Ed Schultz Guest Condemns Wisconsin Tax Breaks, Can't Describe Any When Asked
Details, details.
Wisconsin Democrat state senator Lena Taylor really hates those $142 million in tax credits for businesses and the wealthy passed by Gov. Scott Walker and fellow Republicans in the legislature.
So much so that Taylor couldn't elaborate on any when asked during Ed Schultz's radio show yesterday, a rebroadcast of the program from a theater in Madison, Wisc., on Wednesday (audio) --
SCHULTZ: Has there been a tax cut or a tax credit for the wealthiest Wisconsinites?
TAYLOR: Oh for sure. The first eight bills we did when the governor, after he got sworn in, $142 million in tax credits. (audience boos).
SCHULTZ: The first eight bills, give us, give us one, give us an example of what kind of a tax cut went to the wealthiest Wisconsinites.
TAYLOR: You know, it's been so much that's happened since January. Uh, (laughs) I'm tryin', I'm trying to remember a specific one, uh, off the top of my head. Senator Jauch, can you ...
As heard on the embedded audio, it wasn't Taylor's state senate colleague Robert Jauch who answered Schultz's question (nor did two other Democrat state senators also on stage). Instead, it was a member of the audience called on stage by Schultz. After the woman responded, Taylor chimed in -- "What she said!"

That's what Ed gets for

That's what Ed gets for assuming his liberal guests know what they're talking about.
You can bet he'll never ask for specifics again.
Where do the democrats find these geniuses??

Sounds to me like Lena Taylor is a candidate for the Sheila Jackson Lee "Drive to the Flag" award... The scary part is when you realize that Lee and Taylor are among the brightest of the democrat elected officials...

It does not matter what these airgaps say or remember in front of an audience like this one. They are all left wingnuts. That is why they go to events like this one . The people there all believe that Dims ars good and Republicans are evil. It does not matter to them that their Reps do not have a clue as to what is really happening in their state. TAX THEM RICH FOLKS!

I'm self-employed, and I pay
Submitted by big.league.slider on Fri, 04/15/2011 - 10:24pm.
I'm self-employed, and I pay 100% of my health insurance and retirement costs plus over 12% of my income to social security and medicare. I usually work 6 days a week, 52 weeks per year, and have no paid holidays or vacations. I'll likely have to work until I'm almost 70 to retire financially secure.
The Wisconsin public teachers only work 9 months out of the year, have extensive paid holidays and vacations, don't pay a dime in social security taxes, and can retire comfortably at 55.
They expect me to work almost 40% more hours each year, pay way more in taxes, pay for my own health care and pension, and continue working a full decade longer than they do, and that's not selfish on their part. But if I ask them to pay for just a small part of their own health care costs, then I'm vicious and cruel?
Teachers complaints

It's almost comical to me when teachers complain about having to work nights and weekends on lesson plans, grading papers, etc. We are also self-employed. After the "work day" there are still phone calls to be made and paperwork to be done for several hours a night, and on weekends.
I know bankers, people in marketing etc. They also put in a lot of time after hours. Sometimes it's teaching classes, taking classes (self paid, to become more valuable to the company to hopefully keep their jobs), being involved in community organizations, etc, just to hopefully hold onto their jobs if another layoff occurs.
The teachers can cry me a river.

Programmers tend to spend nights and weekends cranking out da code, as well as anyone who has to support people across multiple time-zones, or anyone involved with integration work.
I think they should keep whining, though. Let everyone know just how cush their jobs are and how much the taxpayer pays for them. You can't convince someone struggling to make ends meet that what money they do bring home should go to somebody else. If the teachers were smart, they'd shut up, lie low, and count their blessings. But because they're foolish, they will end up losing a lot of their perks and salaries.
Big government is a bubble built on the post WWII expansion, and to a lesser degree, Reagan and Bush's expansions. Now the libs have become so greedy that they have their throats around the goose, trying to throttle the golden eggs out of her. They WILL lose and government will be slashed back to its usual level of funding.
Cry your crocodile tears, libs. A trillion dollar deficit is not sustainable and you know it.

You can go to school and be a teacher also. Let us not jump into the same class warfare they left does. It seems to me that you are begrudging the deal the teachers have, yet you too can become a teacher.

I am begrudging the teachers the pity party they insist upon while screaming for more more more of my tax dollars. That is my right.
Edit And do not presume to tell me not to engage in class warfare or what I should or shouldn't engage in or sound like. This is why the left is winning the war of public opinion and how BO got elected. I'll fight any way I damn well please.

Radical, I'm with you!!
Being ignored here is the fact that teachers take their pay from us by force!
And they don't have to prove proficiency OR show results in order to demand a raise.
Objecting to one's money being taken by force and given to some else simply because they have leverage is NOT class warfare!!
There are small business owners who can't afford health insurance for their own families because they have to pitch in with ever-increasing local taxes to pay for the health insurance of the teachers!

Its not class warfare when you are talking about the gov't paying someone a salery based on a union shakedown. The teachers saleries are not based on what they are worth. The salery is based on a corrupt bargain between politicians and political contributions by unions.

I think the better phrase is "won't". They know what the tax "breaks" are. They are credits for:
new job creation
business that relocate from out of state to Wisconsin
for employer contribution to employee healthcare.
They were good and many democrats in Wisconsin supported them. There are very small.
The person asked to name them knew what they were but wouldn't because anyone who hears what they are would not think highly of anyone who criticized them. Also they don't fit "tax breaks for the rich".
