Move over Al Gore, NBC's Meredith Vieira and Natalie Morales have discovered the new face of global warming and it's a glacier. In the latest bit of goofy global warming nonsense Morales reported, on Thursday's "Today", that a photographer in Norway caught a picture of "what appears to be a face crying a river of tears as a glacier melts into the sea." To which "Today" co-host Vieira exclaimed, "That's gonna be the new image of global warming, right there." [audio available here]
The following exchange was aired on the September 3, "Today" show:
NATALIE MORALES: And in Norway take a look at this image a photographer caught of what appears to be a face crying a river of tears as a glacier melts into the sea. That particular glacier has been shrin
king as much as 160 feet a year for decades. That is truly a remarkable shot there. 7:10am right now. Back to Meredith, Lester and Stephanie Abrams.
MEREDITH VIEIRA: That's gonna be the new image of global warming, right there.
MORALES: Absolutely. Environmentalists are gonna be using that picture everywhere. Yeah.

September 3, 2009 - 10:02 ET by jon_torlinYou know, that comment about cat taking a crap, and then this glacier thing, I got a better picture in mind based on a saying my dad likes to use every now and then to describe how busy he gets at his snowcone place he runs:
"We were busier than a cat trying to take a $h!t in a snowstorm."
Just picture that, I'd say that's better for climate change, but it sure makes me laugh to visualize!

September 3, 2009 - 10:54 ET by DingoI don't know when these morons are going to realize that the icecaps melt significantly every year and then reform in the winter. Do we see flooding every year on the coasts when they melt? No we don't. I saw a piece on The Communist News Network (CNN) today saying that the melting is going to flood the coasts and we have to act now. It is widely understood that the melting of ice floating in the sea does not raise the sea level. Such floating ice displaces an amount of water equal to its own weight. Thus the water from the melting ice fits into the space occupied by the ice under the water level. Any idiot only needs to put ice in a glass of water to see that when it melts, the glass does not overflow. When is the world going to wake up and realize that these "environmentalists are merely the snake-oil dealers of the 21st Century

I agree!
September 3, 2009 - 12:02 ET by Meredith1966That was my immediate impression, too, that it looks like someone has superimposed Michael Jackson's face onto the glacier. If so, then obviously someone (let's just assume on the political left, shall we?) is trying to use MJ's image to make a point about so-called global warming. 'Oh, look, Michael is gone but he cries for our planet.' Blechhh...
OH, and here in the Dallas area we just went through what for us is a very mild August. I don't think we went over 100 degrees in the month, or if we did it was only a day or two. In fact, June was hotter than August, and that is very unusual.

Nearby Bjornoya has records that go back to 1949. Over the last 3 years the mean temp has gone from a toasty +1 degC to under 0. Which puts the temperture where it was in the 50's.

Kerry speaks dolphin
September 3, 2009 - 13:16 ET by jon_torlinHey, does anyone remember one campaign stop that John Kerry did in Florida and I think it was supposed to be about global warming, near some marina or something when a dolphin caught everyone's attention and was making happy noises or something? And Kerry turns around and acts like he's talking to the dolphin saying "we hear you, we're trying to save you" or something like that.
I can't find that anywhere, I remember Rush brought that up on one of his shows poking fun at him(no great effort).
Anyone know about this? This was about as bizarre as matrixing a crying face out of this glacier or seeing Jesus on the side of a fridge.

I always laugh when a lib
September 3, 2009 - 21:35 ET by CooltomI always laugh when a lib says that a video of a glacier calfing into the ocean is a sign of global warming making glaciers recede. If so, how did the glacier get to the coast in the first place. Perhaps because there's a BIG HONKING GLACIER behind it pushing it into the sea?
As to sea levels rising how come we've had the Medeival Warm Period and the Little Ice Age and the maps from 1000 AD to the present show little change in the coastlines aside from more accuracy?
Global Warming Debate
September 5, 2009 - 03:02 ET by tarunkjuyalSOME species of Australian birds are shrinking and the trend will likely continue because of global warming, a scientist said.
Janet Gardner, an Australian National University biologist, led a team of scientists who measured museum specimens to plot the decline in size of eight species of Australian birds over the past century.
The research, published last week in the British journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, found the birds in Australia’s southeast had become between 2 per cent to 4 per cent smaller.
Over the same century, Australia’s average daily temperature rose 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit (0.7 deg C), with the sharpest increase since the 1950s.
Source:- http://lifeofearth.o...
What does this have to do with the price of gas in Australia?
September 5, 2009 - 05:25 ET by JWFIt does not take a biologist to know that there could be 7000 factors in why a species of birds get smaller.
Why is it a search of the Gardner scientist turns up nothing but this one study she did that concluded, oh dear god there can be nothing else, that the culprit lies squarely with teh warmings globals.
You know what, I don't like you. I don't like your new friend Janet jump to conclusions Gardner.
Oh by the way pinhead -
Over the same century, Australia’s average daily temperature rose 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit (0.7 deg C), with the sharpest increase since the 1950s.
The average temperature of the earth has fallen by 1 deg in the last year, negating the rise of the last 100. You global warming pinheads never remember that little factoid of a nugget of truth, now do you?
One final thing before you are dismissed pinhead - Who wrote that gawdawful lifeofearth.org website you linked to. That is the most horrendous website ever -

Janet Gardner: Bird Brain
September 5, 2009 - 06:10 ET by Jack BauerThis is so easy to debunk, it's hardly worth the effort.
I'd like Janet Gardner to PROVE that the century old stuffed birds are the same size as when they lived. Please go ahead.
Gardner is indulging in NON-SCIENCE passing itself off as science.
Oh --- and even IF we accept her bird size claim on face value, (which I don't) the lady is also indulging in the logical fallacy cum hoc ergo propter hoc:
That is: asserting that occurence implies causation. As in:
1. Birds were larger 100 years ago.
2. The planet is hotter than 100 years ago, therefore:
3. Birds are smaller because the planet is hotter.
