NBC's Ron Allen, on Monday's "Today" show, highlighted how the residents on Martha's Vineyard are in a tizzy about the First Family vacationing there as he gushed: "On the small island off the coast of Massachusetts, there is Obama everything!" Allen then went on to feature locals celebrating the arrival of the Obamas including a woman excited about eateries naming dishes after the President like the "Barack-O-Taco," the "Obamarita" and as Allen enthused: "Even an ice cream called Barack My World."

While Allen did note the politics of Martha's Vineyard, "lean to the political left," he did it right before leading into video of a kid actually gasping "Gosh!" and breaking out into a song and dance when she realized she had just seen Obama:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

RON ALLEN: However, this week, the Obamas have this laid back island, that tends to lean to the political left, buzzing.

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN#2: It was him coming in? Oh wow! So we did see President Obama, didn't we?

(Clip of child gasping: "Gosh!" and starts dancing and singing, "Yeah! Yeah!")

The following is the full segment as it was aired on the August 24, "Today" show:

ANN CURRY: Now to the First Family's week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard. President Obama may be away from Washington but will he be able to leave behind the debate over his plan for health care reform? NBC's Ron Allen is on Martha's Vineyard with more on this. Hey Ron, good morning.

RON ALLEN: Good morning to you Ann. Yes the White House insists this is a private family vacation. The only scheduled events: the President's arrival yesterday and his departure next Sunday. But Mr. Obama is trying to get away from Washington at a time that's been a very difficult month for him especially the fight for one of his signature issues, health care reform. As the First Family arrived on Martha's Vineyard, the President let the press know he's not trying to make news, but on the small island off the coast of Massachusetts, there is Obama everything.

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: There's a Barack, Barack-O-Taco and there was an Obamarita - a drink.

ALLEN: Even an ice cream called Barack My World.

WOMAN: It was delicious. It was coffee with caramel swirls and Macadamia nuts.

ALLEN: The Obamas are staying at a 25-acre private estate in a secluded part of the island. Cost? $35,000 with the President picking up the tab. Golf, swimming, time with the family, including Bo.

(Footage of protestors)

ALLEN: But at this point in his presidency with his health care proposal facing opposition, even from Democrats, and bleak reports from the war in Afghanistan this week and election results due in days, observers suggest the President not stay away too long.

JOE LOCKHART, FORMER CLINTON PRESS SECRETARY: You can take the vacation but every day you're away, a day of work piles on. So he knows what's gonna be there when he comes back.

ALLEN: The fight over health care reform follows him here with opponents broadcasting TV ads this week, visible on Martha's Vineyard, criticizing Obama's vacation and his reform plan.

(Begin CPRights.org ad clip)

ANNOUNCER: The beach is nice this time of year but while President Obama vacations concerns mount about his health care plan.

(End clip)

ALLEN: A presidential historian thinks a few long walks on the beach might just help Obama.

DORIS KEARNS GOODWIN, PRESIDENTIAL HISTORIAN: If he can use this time away to rethink his position in terms of where he's gonna be on the health care issue, he could well come back in a better frame of mind to really be able to deal with the real troubles that are gonna come down the hill in September and October.

ALLEN: However, this week, the Obamas have this laid back island, that tends to lean to the political left, buzzing.

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN#2: It was him coming in? Oh wow! So we did see President Obama, didn't we?

(Clip of child gasping: "Gosh!" and starts dancing and singing, "Yeah! Yeah!")

ALLEN: There are countless rumors on this island about where the President might just stop by. However the White House says there are no plans for President Obama to visit senator Edward Kennedy over on nearby Cape Cod on Hyannisport. There's been a lot of speculation because the two are very close. Kennedy is very ill and improving the nation's health care system has been one of his biggest priorities. Ann?

CURRY: Alright, Ron Allen, this morning. Ron thanks a lot. I guess a lot of people on the island gonna be kinda doing this (points fingers in the air imitating dancing child) when they see Obama.

MATT LAUER: And eating that Barack My World ice cream. Absolutely.

Recipe for a Barack-O-Taco

Take one taco shell

Lay on a lot of ham and cheese

Insert rectally with left hand.

OPTION:   Liberal doses of wee-wee sauce

Nice recipe. Here's another

Nice recipe. Here's another one, though:

Start with one slab of Government cheese.

Smear on gobs of liberal largess.

Sprinkle some Acorn shells, and a few Hucksters.

Put it in the oven and tax the hell out of it!

Remove everything that has any taste, decency, or American values.

Garnish it with 1,000's of choking regulations. And,

Sprinkle it with talking points, and serve it with a threat.

Obama-Delicious!!! Take someone else's share, and spread your share around.

Hot Curry

Whenever there is a syrupy celebrity story on Today, Ann Curry is smack dab in the middle emoting banal drivel.

Berries for dessert

Get your choice of berries (or Obama-Barrys):

Blue-Barrys: Only available in certain regions of the country, like Massachussetts, Chicago, NY, DC. Yummy for Dims, but cause indigestion for Repubs.

Black-Barrys: Especially made for inner-city folks, and anybody on MSNBC, NPR, and CNN. Tasty, but heed the warning -- DO NOT USE white napkins while consuming black barrys. Will produce permanent race-stains that can't be bleached out.

Boysen-Barrys: This dessert tries to be everything to everyone. It's full of false promises, though, so no matter how much you eat, you will never be full. You might even feel "cheated" out of your true dessert.

Logan-Barrys: This barry might be hard to find because they are not very popular with commercial growers due to several problems which increase labour costs. The plants tend to be thorny and the berries are often hidden by the leaves. You might only find these barrys in large, inefficient Government offices, where they actually thrive.

Ras-Barrys: Really

Ras-Barrys: Really Awesome-Stuffed Barrys. Probably hallucingenic. Causes clear Joker-face visions to occur when consumed by Republicans. However, Dims report that it causes halo-vision and occassional bladder-control problems. Dims also report nostalgic feelings about Volvo-clunkers and vague mis-givings whenever they make doctor appointments. And there's at least one report of telepromter-remorse. Best to consume this Barry in moderation -- or not at all.

Pass the barf bags!! I

Pass the barf bags!!

I had to make it a hat trick!  LOL

Actually, I'm surprised  they didn't arrange a reception with all the  school kids lining the streets, waving flags and singing songs, like in the Soviet Union!

mb...Yep...Remember during the campaign, those schoolkids...

out in California that had been taught (by some Obamaton adults) that adoring song about Obama, and were filmed singing it? It was on YouTube...Yes, kiddies, let's all sing songs about our "Dear Leader"...I guess considering that he's vacationing in Martha's Vineyard, which is in deep blue Massachusetts, this is no surprise...Still makes me gag, though.

Reminds me of...

Spaceballs the T-shirt, Spaceballs the Coloring Book, Spaceballs the Lunchbox, Spaceballs the Breakfast Cereal! Spaceballs the FLAME Thrower!!

And last, but not least, Spaceballs the Doll...me.

So Obama vacations amongst his own kind, leftist elite. What do you expect from liberal elite? Who can live or vacation there but the rich? A bunch of out of touch rich snobs?

Forever... ...as the

Forever...

...as the tax-payers fund this leftist elitism.

Well, bt, I have to

Well, bt, I have to disagree....at least they are paying rent, which is more than the Clintons did.  And we'd have to fund the Secret Service and ancillary staff no matter where they went.

But still, their choice of location is interesting, as I talk about below.

mb... Do we have proof

mb...

Do we have proof the O's are really paying the rent out of their own pockets...not $$$ funneled in to them?

I may have missed it somewhere...I'd sure appreciate seeing the proof...know what I mean?

Obama's a Community Agitator, a walking, talking destroyer. ~ Rush Limbaugh

bt...I heard that...

the Obama's were paying a "share" (as it was worded), of the rent for where they were staying...Now the question is, what defines "share"? That could amount to a dollar, just so they can say they paid rent, and like you, I'm wondering that if they are paying any rent, who may really be providing the rent money?

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

→ Obama's share

Obama's share may be up front, but what about the adjoining room occupied by a ballet dancer.

We will Barry you! - Russian prophecy

Re tutu rentals

That's the real unknown; of course we pay for the Secret Service, but all the staff that he drags along, with their families, simply because they are his staff (and M'chell's huge staff) are essentially getting a free vacation in return for being nominally available for a meeting. That's the hidden cost and it is likely far more than Secret Service costs.

It's no different than the congressional jaunts where senators and reps and families visit Monaco for a weekend ostensibly to study 'trade opportunities' and have a meeting one afternoon for cover.

sw... That's how I looked

sw...

That's how I looked at it.... so far anyway.

And they called the Bushes

And they called the Bushes and Reagan elitists for having their  own  ranches and beach homes to go to, while the famed "Kennedy Compound" got a permanent pass.

I guess famous Democrat Presidents go to where the other "beautiful people" go. Well, at least that explains why Hyannisport got respect, while Kennebunkport got none, and why the media prefer to follow Dem Presidents.

If I were President Bush, I would have spent even more time in Crawford, just to make the reporters miserable.

making the reporters miserable

Ah, those were the good ole days at Crawford... always the ever-present possibility of a rattler bite or a lightning strike on a reporter or crew member.

Unlike today, where the possibility of tripping over a melted kiddie ice cream cone while swooning over MaBelle's latest outfit is the most imminent danger.

Ann Coulter was on Geraldo

Ann Coulter was on Geraldo last night and calling Obama and the Dems elitist for the vacations etc..

Bush went home and actually did work on his ranch, obama goes on vacation and tells the MSM Elite to back off and he is adored for it, I just don't get it...

And the sea levels dropped,

And the sea levels dropped, clearing miles of beautiful beach that had heretofore been flooded due to climate change....and the ocean was healed....<gag>

Manure Too!

Yep, and the local nurseries are doing a booming business selling fertilizer called "Obama B.S."

"Barack My World" ??? Oh

"Barack My World" ???

Oh yea, he's definitely doing that to all of us.  Some of us see it clearly, some are completely blinded and enamored by it, hence the song's creation.

Teddy Bare

"Kennedy is very ill and improving the nation's health care system has been one of his biggest priorities."

Nice unbiased report there. I'm sure he'll 'improve the nation's health care system,' much the same way he improved the health of Mary Jo Kopechne.

Oh, I forgot--he's very ill. That means all criticism of the "liberal lion" is off limits.

marthas vineyard

I wonder if bambam has been across the chappaquiddic bridge yet ;)

Sounds like...

...the population of Martha's Liberal Vineyard is all wee-wee'd up.

Didn't we fight a Revolution so that we didn't have to bow to royalty anymore? These are royal subjects, thankful for even the sight of their king and "savior".

Absolutely disgusting.

Barak my a$$

If Ocare get's passed, this kid won't be doing the "Barak My World" icream any longer as obesity will be a "no-noo" even for the "we-wee". Instead of a dance, she'll be doing calisthenics to work off that chub.
