White House Aide Compares Illegal Immigration to Jaywalking
Cecilia Munoz, the White House director of intergovernmental affairs, compared the federal crime of being in the country illegally to jaywalking.
"If you were running the police department of any urban area in this country, you would spend more resources going after serious criminals than after jaywalkers. DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) is doing the immigration equivalent of the same thing," Munoz told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) conference on Monday.
Munoz was referring to the administration's new policy of "prosecutorial discretion," outlined in a June memo from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, which falls under DHS. Under the new policy, immigration officials will prioritize deportation orders, acting only on those involving people convicted of serious crimes or those who pose a national security or public safety threat.
Munoz said the administration is acting within its authority - "but we also all understand that even as we use our administrative authority, make the right enforcement judgments, it is not the permanent solution for anybody, it doesn't solve our immigration problems. In order to do that, we need the Congress of the United States."
Munoz also indicated that the administration's new "discretion" policy is part of a "progression" of "work that's been going on for several years."
"We have 10 million, 11 million undocumented people in this country and it's abundantly clear to anybody who's paying attention that we're not going to deport that entire population," said Munoz.

According to this link, the cost of incarcerating a prisoner in California is $47,102 per year.
Doing the math (real math, not liberal math), that is $4.8 BILLION a year.
Or to be exact, $4,841,850,090. (After all, what's a mere $41 million in change?).
I bet Obama really, really, really hates pesky facts. :D

Very good leg work on the cost (course, I knew that - pesky dude that I yam).
How many is 102,795 criminal illegal aliens incarcerated in CA look like? Well, a few more than this.
Here's how it fits into our media's want to inform the voters - taxpayers.
Doesn't.
California's been under a Supreme Court order to reduce the population in it's prisons by some 36-40,000 inmates.
There's been a huge political battle raging over a late Bush era program called the Secure Communities program, which has been very successful in catchin them illegals and lockin em up.
The State's newspapers have been on the usual agenda driven mission to push for reducing the prison population and in tearing the Secure Communities program apart. The LAT's has led the way, with front page story after story, op-ed upon op-eds and the papers editorials.
Trust me, everyone at the LA Times from the national editor to the editorial board to the opinion pages editor to the several staff opinion writers and the numerous staff reporters who have been pouring out their hearts on the plight of the illegal aliens to the need for the DREAM Act, is well aware of the number 102,795 by now -- and the cost.
They don't want the voters to know. Why? Well, that would hurt their effort to get em all released, and their efforts to get the DREAM Act passed.
One front page headlined story - with that number in the headline would change everything. Phones would ring off the hook.

PS - Funny -well. A few months back, the LATimes editorial board offered this striking confession to CA's prison population, in presenting their agenda in supporting the SC's order:
Is Texas going to be able to save CA? (Well, listening to Perry - apparently not)
Imagine - It costs 3 (perhaps 4) times as much to house a criminal in the correctional facilities in CA, as it does in TX, but a Texas Prison authority finds the conditions at the CA facilities to be "appalling" and "inhumane."
That's the editorial !! In response to my query as to why they can't tie in the incarcerated illegal alien numbers with this discussion, one of the editorial writers simply said to me, 'that's a different issue.' In response to, "then fine, why don't you address that issue," the answer was silence.
Of course it's a different issue

And that, my pesky fact friend, is why they won't talk about it.
I did some reading several years back about the costs of incarceration, and the privitization of the "industry". Interesting. Of course, all of the liberals are violently (!) opposed, due to their do-gooder intentions. Alas.

We need to deport them as
Submitted by Dan The Man 2 on Thu, 09/15/2011 - 12:32am.
We need to deport them as soon as we find out they are here illegally. We need to deport them with their families as we don't want to break up families.
This is stupid "We have 10 million, 11 million undocumented people in this country and it's abundantly clear to anybody who's paying attention that we're not going to deport that entire population," said Munoz" Because we can and should do exactly that. If greyhound can ferry around
million last year then we can deport at least that many.

No need to deport

Just take the magnet away (jobs and welfare). It's simple: would you stay here if everyplace you applied for a job would turn you down because they would face a serious fine? Most illegals would leave on their own (and their own dime) if we just enforced the laws we have.
Deportation is "not an option" Nor cutting off the gravy train

to illegal aliens.
Deportation is on the front burner on a lot of GOP party rank and file members but not on GOP candidates running for president.
Romney: says nothing about deporting back to their country of origin the millions that are here illegally even though most GOP party member want them deported.
http://www.ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1452284
Perry: we heard his position on giving in state tution to the children of illegal aliens so he's not about to get tough and begin deportation.
Here is a bit on that issue of immigration:http://www.rickperry.org/issues/national-security/
Huntsman: "Jon's first priority, before any immigration reforms are even considered, is to secure the southwest border, once and for all." http://www.jon2012.com/blog/Tags/Immigration
Sounds like amnesty is not out of the question and forget him coming out in favor of deportation.
Newt: He pushed through NAFTA which is essentially an open border compact with Canada and Mexico so forget about Newt deporting a single illegal back to their country of origin. His website's menue has no link to border security not immigration.
http://www.newt.org/solutions
Ron Paul: Remove the magnets that attract them here!
http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/immigration/
"A nation without borders is no nation at all. It just doesn’t make sense to fight terrorists abroad while leaving our front door unlocked."
"...the federal government neglects its constitutional responsibility to protect our borders, it continues to push mandates on the states to provide free education and medical care to illegal immigrants at a time when the states are drowning in debt. This must not be tolerated any longer."
End Birthright Citizenship – As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be granted U.S. citizenship, we’ll never be able to control our immigration problem.
As President, Ron Paul will address immigration by fighting for effective solutions that protect our nation, uphold the rule of law, and respect every American citizen’s civil liberties.
Deportation is not stated but it is not ruled out as one of the "effective solutions."
Michelle Bachmann: http://www.michelebachmann.com/issues/healthcare/
She has a menu for issues but little is discussed on ilegal and legal immigration. In the debate she was for a fence.
Rick Santorum:http://www.ricksantorum.com/index.php
The menu on issues is pretty vacant on illegal immigration.Nothing about his views on Instant birthright citnzenship, nothing on deportation and amnesty, although during the debate he came down hard on Perry on the fence. Tends to stick with the light side of border security and is vague on how he would deal with amnesty after the fence is built if ever one is built. says nothing about hiring enough Border guards to do the job right. Shutting of magnets of foodstamps and free schooling, etc.
Herman Cain: http://www.hermancain.com/the-issues
He sounds a bit tougher than John McCain on this issue but barely.
"We must secure our borders, enforce our laws and promote the existing path to citizenship.
That sounds like amnesty to me!
More Cain on the border >>>
"Protecting our nation’s sovereignty should be a paramount concern of those elected to lead us, not an afterthought or a reaction once the problem becomes even worse. Further, taking a stand on the issue does not mean one lacks compassion, but instead, that one respects the rule of law and the importance of not becoming a lawless nation."
Speaks in generalities and is not specific. How many Border Patrolmen he would hire and place on the border; nothing on deportation and amnesty is not ruled out.
What If I Was Jaywalking Illegally in Mexico??

Would I get yet another lecture from Felipe Calderone?
Does he think it would be the equivalent of jaywalking if there were 11 or 12 million illegal gringos in HIS 4th world dump?
