Obama's Administrative Tyranny Marches On

By David Limbaugh | January 01, 2011 | 13:13

A  A
David Limbaugh's picture

This administration is abusive enough when it acts outside its constitutional authority, but it is even more tyrannical when it affirmatively thwarts the express will of the Congress on matters within the legislative domain.

When Congress denied Obama authority to transfer money to the International Monetary Fund, he did so anyway, issuing an executive order promising to give that body $140 billion for redistribution to Third World countries.

Now he's made another mockery of bipartisanship and the Constitution in making six recess appointments, including two people so objectionable that a near supermajority of Democratic senators wouldn't confirm them: James Cole as deputy attorney general, whose lax position in the war on terror is disturbing, and Francis J. Ricciardone Jr. as ambassador to Turkey.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Meanwhile, Obama's Environmental Protection Agency is gearing up to engage in a defiant end run around Congress by attempting to impose cap-and-trade-type regulations by administrative fiat after Obama's failed attempt to shove this nightmarish disaster through Congress.

It obviously doesn't matter to these zealots that an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress couldn't pass cap and trade or that the Clean Air Act gives them no authority to regulate so-called greenhouse gas emissions. It doesn't matter that their proposed regulatory blitzkrieg would further damage an already anemic and precarious economy.

What matters is that the earth goddess Gaia beckons, and she is not to be denied. Just as her global warming cultists view every environmental development and incident as confirmation of their cataclysmic myopia, including the ones that flatly contradict their theories, her disciples in government march to her orders, irrespective of the rule of law and silly capitalistic concerns.

Unlike those annoying evangelical Christians, who employ gentle persuasion techniques in their efforts to proselytize, Gaia's acolytes use the coercive power of government to bring us all into the fold. And all this time, libs have been telling us they abhor state-sponsored religion.

So on Jan. 2, new and modified industrial facilities, such as refineries and power plants, will be required to incorporate processes designed to curb their carbon dioxide emissions. Initially, the regulations will apply only to those concerns that already fall under the EPA's rules governing the emissions of other pollutants, such as soot and smog.

But in July, the scope of the regulations will expand to encompass large plants based solely on their greenhouse gas emissions. As deceitful, er, compassionate liberals, they're phasing in the pain to soften the blow (and the public's outrage) — just as they did with the sundry gimmicks of Obamacare.

These developments also represent another phase of Obama's federal war against the states, which is currently raging in the Obamacare and Immigration Law theaters. That's because many states have conflicting or no administrative regulations in place to facilitate the implementation of the EPA's scheme.

Texas, for example, has adamantly refused to roll over for the administration's climate commands, so the EPA is preparing to subsume greenhouse gas permitting authority indefinitely in that little obstreperous state.

Even some Democrats and hardly conservative Republicans are objecting to this power grabbish assault on the economy. Sen. John Rockefeller warned of dire economic consequences and said, "We must call a timeout on these regulations." Sen. Lisa Murkowski said the EPA's new rules could lead to an "economic train wreck" and could cause businesses to close down, unemployment to rise and the costs of housing and consumer goods to increase.

And let's not forget gas prices. Remember when liberals used to oppose rising gas prices — you know, under Bush, even when they were still less than $2 per gallon? According to Sen. Barbara Boxer, those astronomical prices were the result of George Bush and Dick Cheney's being "too cozy with the oil industry."

The Heritage Foundation notes that gas prices decreased 9 percent during Dubya's eight-year tenure, but they've been on a steady rise under Obama. The EPA emission rules will clearly make it more expensive to convert fossil fuels into energy, putting even more upward pressure on gas prices.

That's not all. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has decreed that the Bureau of Land Management will establish new rules to make it more difficult to develop natural resources on government-owned land, which will also drive up the cost of gas and electricity and increase our dependency on foreign energy sources. All these developments serve as a nice complement to Obama's seven-year ban on drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. King Barack wasn't about to let the insubordinate courts have the last say in ruling that his earlier moratorium on deep- and shallow-water drilling was illegal.

In November, Obama's political theology took a shellacking at the polls, but he marches on, undeterred, in his quest to implement an agenda that is anathema to the great majority of Americans and devastating to our Constitution, our economic prosperity and our individual liberties.

Is Obama really abusing the excutive priviliges.  I mean how do his compare to other Presidents?  If we are to throw bombs then we must have an idea if they are hitting their intended target.

Nice move Dan*

Submitted by cajun2 on Sat, 01/01/2011 - 4:08pm.

Change the target is a typical liberal move. Who cares what other presidents have done? This president is the one abusing his power, taking power away from congress, dissing the Supreme Court, all intended to disrupt our constitutional balance of power. We know the target, it is everything American that he wants changed, He promised a "fundamental transformation of America". He promised and he is doing everything he can to keep his promise.

If a liberal supports the destruction of  basic American institutions and values, they are either stupid, collaborators or useful idiots.  Pick one.

But not enough to win the argument. If you try to argue that this is only about the current President, as much as I abhor his policies, then you totally ignore the possibility that the entire reason the recess appointments option is present is to backdoor the congress. I personally believe the backdoor was left in place to assist when the congress doesn't act in the manner in which they were proscribed, and as such, the President must make the decision in the best way he can. Granted, this President has a warped sense of reality and makes decisions based on flawed theories.... but still....

We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed.

A move?  I am just trying to

Submitted by Dan The Man 2 on Sat, 01/01/2011 - 5:06pm.

A move?  I am just trying to see how Obama's executive orders compare to other Presidents.  Shouldn't we have the facts before we start persecuting?  Remember what the powers of the respective authorities are given in the Constitution?  Congress approves of the budget and the President makes sure it is spent.  The fuzzy part is how those funds are to be spent.

The IMF fund transfer is a blatant abuse of the powers as congress specifically said no and the President did it through executive order.  Where did the funds come from and is it legal for the President to spend them?.

So it is up to congress to challenge teh expenditure of teh funds for a purpose they specifically prohibited.  When the Republicans gain control in the new session perhaps they should stop the funds.

The number of executive orders isn't nearly as important as the subjects they deal with.

DFTT, this is one of those times I just want an excutive summary and a conclusion.  The site you gave me seemed like wading through oil muck.  I might go back but I'm not sure if I want to spend the time.  It is most likely not going to matter if I do or not and I have other fish to fry.  Thanks for the site.

I will get right on that executive summary. I may be delayed by a phone call from the President though. I am looking to get $140 billion to bail out the neighbor's kid's lemonaid stand.

It is this President*

Submitted by cajun2 on Sat, 01/01/2011 - 5:51pm.

All of the prior administrations have had an agenda. For 234 yrs, regardless of who is in power, the Constitution has kept that balance of power in the fore. Bush and Clinton used their executive powers but both failed to make the  massive changes  they wanted because of that constitutional balance.

Call it gridlock  or any other name or changes in party majority, that is the balance of power. This president has for 2 yrs arrogantly and deceptively ignored the Constitutional process and the will of the American people. To me, that makes him a very dangerous man, one we have never seen before.

His decisions and new agency regulations, all done behind the curtain, are not flawed ideology. That dismantleing of our constitutional process IS his agenda. That is what makes him the most dangerous president in our history.

At LOC and the FEDERAL REGISTER, they list all of the "backdoor" moves being made. Those moves are a more clear indication of his agenda than his "teleprompter" ever lets on. He has openly thumbed his nose at the Supreme Court for a reason. That is to destroy any credibilty of the Supreme Court when they do begin to protect the tenets of the constitution. He has appointed Eric Holder AG, probably the most corrupt ideolog ever in our history precisely so that Obama has the cover he needs to continue his corrupt administration.

When he gives his STATE OF THE UNION address, bets are that he will blame Bush, blame Republicans, talk about me,me,me and how great I am. Racism will be a major reason for him to continue his "entitlements" and he will again dis the Supreme Court. All of these seeming inocquous remarks will appear arrogant but actually purposely intended to destroy trust and faith in the very Constitutional process that he has vowed to change. Once that trust is gone, he can then continue his campaign to transform this country but will begin doing so much more openly. And look carefully and study who is worthy of his "entitlements". They are the least productive people in our society and will make great tools to create the chaos that he will ignite.

Within the next 2 yrs, the real Obama will appear and I can assure you, he will be nothing like any past president.

Most people tend to concentrate on this guy and the congress. I have been looking behind the curtain. He has used his executive powers to issue enterprise damaging regulations. Over the past few months I have linked numerous articles not covered by the msm. For instance, while he is giving Billions to other countries to drill for oil he issues a moratorium on drilling here. While doing that, quietly taking over federal lands so far in 37 states. One of the results of that takeover, those lands are filled with energy and natural resources and no new permits are being allowed.

Also, he has ordered more stringent regulations controlling oil and gas refineries. Not many people are aware of the difficulties this has caused those companies. The moratorium and lack of new permits have greatly harmed related industries in the gulf as well as in the energy rich states. All of this is as he promised. "Energy costs will necessarily skyrocket" was his promise even before he was elected.

I also learned that the CBO and the GAO are having great difficulty tracking the money from TARP, Stimulus and the Health Care bill. Billions of our money is unaccountable. And watch this guy Bernacke. A scheming liar with enough arrogance to lie directly to Congress.

Every regulatory agency has put in new rules and more stringent regulations regarding housing, highways, medical programs, education, energy, taxes, even foster care programs in the states have been affected.

If you study these quietly dissimenated regulations and their effects, you see that regardless of what happens in Congress and the White House, the real agenda has already been put into action that will take years to track as well as change. All intended to damage free enterprise, over regulate industry, break the states' budgets. Not counting the laundering of money to Black Panthers, Unions, SEIU, and other radical groups that can only spell trouble and chaos for us in the future. Rose Piven today gves a speech calling for violence and riots to obtain their goals much like in Greece.

Here are some questions? Why does the IRS need 66,000 new agents? Why is he "federalizing state lands in every state? Is his intent to create a "civilian militia"(another of his promises) the reason for funneling money to Black Panthers and the UNIONS? How far will FDA and Agriculture go to extend the new regulations given to them by S 510 recently passed? The new regulations in that bill, if exploited by radicals, can put all of our food resources and related industries totally under govt control.

Am I paranoid or is someone really following me around in the dark? (no real need to answer that one, it was a rhetorical question...;-)

cajun I always thought that

I always thought that the danger of ObamaCare wasn't just in the law, but in the vague way it was written. As horrible as the law is, the real danger lies in the interpretations of it's thousands of rules and regulations by the faceless bureaucrats who will implement it. There is or will be very little or no coverage at all of those decisions, made behind closed doors at little-known offices. The nasty lsurprises, big and small, will trickle out over the years as people learn too late just how much health care and freedom of choice will have been stood on their head.

Let's make the 2012 campaign: "The War on Error"

Totally agree ChrisNorman*

Submitted by cajun2 on Sun, 01/02/2011 - 12:15am.

In my very lengthy posts, that is precisely what I was trying to say. There will be 100 new agencies, 26,000 health care commissions created before the health care provisions go into effect. The DHS is already re-writing and adding to the health care bill. I have tried to review but revisions are not being posted anywhere, just some parts are being leaked.

Think of this, these health care commissions will not be able to be chaired by medical personnel because there wont be enough of them available. So, who do you think will chair these commissions?  Put Donald Berwick in charge and you will have as many far left radicals as he can find.

Infiltrate govt agencies at all levels and make major changes in our society in  incremental steps. Right out of Rules for Radicals page by page.

cajun, And once in, most of

Submitted by Chris Norman on Sun, 01/02/2011 - 12:39am.

cajun,

And once in, most of these bureaucrats will remain in place until they retire or the office closed down - even then they will just move over to a new one. Even if the most conservative administration imaginable gets in, as long as this healthharm law is around, there will be bureaucrats running it - with a vested interest in increasing the power of government. You are right, the presidents and congresses come and go,, but the actual Big Goverment are the bureaucrats who run it and never go - they just keep coming. Even Ronald Reagan was hampered by the bureaucracy. And these bureaucrats are media-savvy. They know who in the press who to leak to. The press won't cover the negative things in the buraucracies, but they will cover the negative things the buraucrats provide them to use against conservative administrations. Until the bureacracy becomes accountable. everything else we do at the congrssional and presidential level is limited.

Let's make the 2012 campaign: "The War on Error"

Yep cajun2, 10 dollars will get you a little over 3 gallons of gas, whereas 3 dollars used to get you over 10 gallons. I don't know what the ratio is between 10 dollars worth of ammo and The Price of Liberty. The price of making the effort to go to town and vote seems to parallel more so the price of gas.~@~
