Top Three Worst Media Attacks on Komen (So Far)
Radical anti-life groups have decided to destroy the Susan G. Komen foundation for daring to challenge the abortionists of Planned Parenthood. The so-called “pro-choice” community targeted the group’s fund-raising and even hacked the Komen website, adding a slogan for the “Race for the Cure,” urging readers to “help us run over poor women on the way to the bank.”
Both left-wing organizations and traditional news outlets are helping them do it. Soros-funded radical groups like Moveon.org urged its supporters to “stand with groups that don’t screw over Planned Parenthood,” it too funded by Soros millions. They called on Susan G. Komen to restore its relationship with the abortionists.
Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor released this statement: “This shows what a lie choice really is on the left. They support any choice as long as it means no one opposes the merchants of death at Planned Parenthood, which kills nearly 1,000 babies each and every day. For the media to aid this attack by emphasizing the Planned Parenthood claim they are being bullied is simply disgusting. But journalists are never neutral on abortion and few stories covered the videos that helped lead to the congressional investigation of Planned Parenthood, as well.”
Some of the lowlights of the media coverage:
-
CNN blamed the defunding on conservatives, of course. Correspondent Mary Snow said “Planned Parenthood blames bullying by the right,” Snow reported. The group's president Cecile Richards later told CNN of an “ugly and aggressive campaign by right-wing organizations to bully the Komen Foundation and keep them from working with Planned Parenthood.” She aired a single statement from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and quoted a pro-life group that supported the foundation's separation from Planned Parenthood.
-
On CBS “Evening News” last night, correspondent Nancy Cordes showed Ceclile Richards of Planned Parenthood saying, “Unfortunately, I think this was a political decision, and there are groups that have an extreme agenda who have been bullying the Komen Foundation and trying to get them to end their relationship with Planned Parenthood.” Cordes' report misidentified moderate congressman Chris Smith, R-NJ, as one of the “social conservatives” who have made Planned Parenthood a “long-time target.” There was no corresponding ideological label for liberal Rep. Jackie Speier in the same report.
-
On MSNBC last night, host Lawrence O'Donnell teased a segment of his “The Last Word” show saying, “the politics of stopping Planned Parenthood has now put more women at risk of dying from breast cancer.” The segment was a one-sided “exclusive interview” with Richards, who was allowed to direct viewers where to send their Planned Parenthood contributions. Nowhere in the segment was the word abortion used, and neither O'Donnell nor Richards mentioned the congressional investigation into the abortion provider -- the Komen foundation's explicit reason for severing ties.

I caught a glimpse of Andrea Mitchell interviewing (grilling)
Submitted by Galvanic on Thu, 02/02/2012 - 3:44pm.
. . . the CEO of Komen, who pointed out that her organization hadn't killed all of their grants to PP, and that the decision had to do with metrics on how the money had been spent vice an impulsive move directed by Komen's conservative VP.
Mitchell was nothing short of a full-blown advocate for PP.
Once SGK foundation cuts all ties to PP

I will happily support them. Until then, they get none of my money because I refuse to even take the chance of supporting PP.

I will support SGK again now

I have not participated in the Race for the Cure since SGK started funding PP. I will now happily support them again. I have always been curious about how SGK could support PP, when SGK's whole purpose was to save lives and PP's is to destroy lives. It was a conundrum. I know that PP says they do other things besides abortion, but their own numbers tell a different story. The bulk of their business?? is abortion.
Welcome back SGK to your original purpose for being. Happy to have you back.

They accuse conservatives of bullying Planned Parenthood, but the second Komen breaks off the relationship we get insults, browbeating interviews, and outright cyberterrorism. And they still continue to paint PP as the poor, innocent victim in all this. I really hope someone on the right has the stones to point this out to their faces; my money would be on George Will or Newt.

I am OUTRAGED that SGK allowed politics to determine their actions. I now DEMAND that SGK allow politics to determine their actions by restoring funds to PP.
Again with the "bullying"
Submitted by ljacone on Thu, 02/02/2012 - 4:52pm.
If you needed any convincing that the anti-bullying lobby in this country was a tool of the left, look no further than any news story where a Leftist group suffers. The "B-word" is broken out almost immediately, as we see here.
The real bullies have always been the left; "Be like us OR ELSE!"
Well Boo freakin' hoo!

Abortion actually reduces breast cancer (sarc)

Half of all aborted babies are girls who will now never have to worry about getting breast cancer. (More than half in some "enlightened" cultures)!
Editing crossover.

I wondered by SGK supported PP what with the possible connection between abortion and breast cancer, meant to add the current line but deleted the first. Went back to fix it but got "access denied"
you are not crazy.
Well, maybe you are, but that's not evidence of it ;-)
Here we go again

First conservatives get exactly what they wanted by pressuring the Komen Foundation to break their relationship with Planned Parenthood, and then you complain about how you've been portrayed. Such narcissism!
Yes--here you go again.

You didn't bother reading more because it would have challenged your preconceived notions of what Planned Parenthood and the Komen Foundation are about, did you? Very expected of you, Frankie.
SGKF only voided ONE grant of about $700K because Planned Parenthood is the subject of a congressional investigation. It is a standard clause in grant contracts that any form of investigation will void any further obligation of the grantor (that means the foundation providing the grant, Frankie) to fund additional parts of the grant, particularly if the grantee (that means the recipient, Frankie) is suspected of misusing even a dime in funds. Komen is not required by law to fund Planned Parenthood, but did end one grant potentially for legal reasons. Komen's tax exempt status is on the line legally, and it has to abide by IRS regulations which place these types of terms in grant contracts as standard operating procedure or Komen could be accused of misusing publicly donated funds. Komen continues to fund other grants to Planned Parenthood as it described.
As for narcissism, you don't even know what the term means clinically, unless you are going to give some kind of BS line that you are a licensed mental health professional. If that is so, please do let us know. Nothing more I like than engaging in a cogent discussion with a qualified mental health practitioner colleague. Until then, spare us the formulaic condescension.
So conservatives used their first amendment rights and Komen decided to void the grant for legal reasons. This is no different than you progressives using your first amendment rights, albeit conservatives don't defecate on police cars, deface and burn public property, vandalize parks and steal items from churches that harbor you or live in such squalor that the local health authorities have to go to court because your Obamavilles attracted hordes of rats. I also don't hear of any Tea Party activists contracting drug-resistant tuberculosis or women being raped and molested at their rallies. Facts are not on your side, Frankie.
Hay, John...

Hay, John, just how did those supposed conservatives "pressure" The Race for the Cure in withdrawing donations to PP? That's something you liberals never bother to tell anyone. You make accusations but offer nothing to substantiate those accusations.

there is not one shred of evidence that anybody pressured them, but because Planned Parenthood, which absolutely should be investigated, loses funding, it's automatically the Repuclican's fault.
The lies and propaganda are only going to get worse as it gets closer to the election.

Keeping Abreast of the Subject

Someone should point out to these foaming-at-the-mouth baby killers that hey, guess what, the less money they give to killing babies the more they will have to fight breast cancer. You know, like maybe your mother might get? I know, too much logic for the ideologues who tell everyone else how to live.
The stupidest

argument is that about "poor women". I am no Mitt-bott, but to some extent, I understand what he meant about not being concerned for the poor due to the safety nets. Now, before you all dog pile on me, in the world of healthcare, the "poor" not only have as much access to these services as anyone else, while the rest of us pay for the service (ourselves or via insurance) the "poor" typically do not. These nimrods could give a rat's rectum about the "poor", they're simply beside themselves because someone finally poked them in the eye.
