Is Occupy Wall St. Getting Big Name Lefty Media Help?

By Dan Gainor | October 07, 2011 | 10:17

Occupy Wall Street might not just be for smelly hippies any more. Major unions and some high-priced Hollywood stars and starlets are throwing their support to the protest. But that’s not enough.

During the live video feed of the protest Thursday afternoon, a woman who identified herself as “Beth Bogart,” stopped by the media table and expressed concern they would get “overwhelmed.” She offered her aid as a former “journalist” and experienced media expert to deal with the media inquiries. Could it be the same Beth Bogart who worked for decades handling lefty PR at Fenton Communications?

“You don’t want to piss off a reporter for NBC,” this Beth Bogart warned a dreadlocked host of the live Occupy Wall Street video feed.

While the camera never panned to show her face, a Beth Bogart is quite well-known in the liberal media community. According to the website for Bogart & Bogart, she is very experienced. “Journalist, ghostwriter and producer of social-change media strategies since the mid-1970’s (first job: The Washington Post’s editorial pages).  Accredited Capitol Hill reporter, published in The Washington Post, Ad Age, Legal Times, In These Times, Washingtonian Magazine.”

The bio goes on to describe her as a former owner of the lefty public relations shop Fenton Communications. “Fenton Communications co-owner for 20 years, waging media campaigns to expose the dangers of nuclear war, curtail U.S. military intervention in Central America, end apartheid in South Africa, reveal environmental hazards from pesticides to over-fishing, and energize MoveOn.org campaigns.”

The Washington Post describes David Fenton as “the ‘Where's Waldo?’ character of the political left.” And no wonder. Fenton is the communications company for every major loony left operation from climate change to Moveon.org.

If Beth Bogart is also aiding the so-called grassroots movement of Occupy Wall Street, then it’s just the latest example that the professional, hardcore left is taking over where the amateurs began.

But I’d bet Bogart didn’t expect the whole exchange to be broadcast on the Internet. The whole world isn’t watching, despite the Occupiers claims, but a few of us are.

Do wild bears $hit in the woods? Not if they are in an open field. I couldn't resist saying that. My wife uses that comment on me all the time.

ain't the woods so technically she is right! I've only come across bear excrement once ... while hunting in Idaho ... and it was in the woods.

However, a recent conversation with a bartender who hails from West Yellowstone, Montana revealed that a bear once broke into her parents cabin, and when he was discovered ... pooped all over the house!

If it wasn't for the media, it never would have happened. They would have went home, by now. So, when someone gets hurt or killed, the media will be responsible.

Pissing off an NBC reporter?

Submitted by Ashrak on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 10:43am.

Well, maybe in decades past that might have been a threat that carried weight.

Carry has gotten nothing but love from NBC, right down to refusing to report huge stories altogether, alongside trying to smooth over others.

But hey, if some want to think the NBC is still the "industry" benchmark, witness them live that lie. It shows just how out of touch with reality the progressives actually are.

That an individual right exists requires that some policy positions be removed from the table of debate.

Is Occupy Wall Street Getting Lefty Media Help?

Submitted by Gothampc on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 10:45am.

I believe that this whole protest has direct ties to the White House. So of course they're getting lefty media help. I'm just surprised that it's this blatant.

I saw Naomi Klein speaking to the protestors using the "human mic" method (which is utterly creepy, btw). I guess they ♥ Keith Olbermann and CurrentTV because he gives them so much press. Last time I looked their live feed had about 3K watchers (I'd wager a large portion are gawkers and trolls).

Submitted by ricklail on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 11:00am.

That must be one more stinky mess in NYC. I know they are not taking baths and just where are they using the facilities? I bet it smells like a 100 Jiffy Jons that has sat in the hot sun.

The Great One said last night that the unions were a bunch of hypocrites in that their pension funds were heavily invested in Wall Street.

And, you're right, Rick, I'd bet that area smells more like 1000 Jiffy Jons.

I remember what I smelled like after 3-4 days in the boonies. The OD fatigues would stand up by themselves. I can multipy that smell by several thousands and it ain't very pleasant. You can probably smell them a 1/4 mile off.

as well what my Cammies smelled like after a few weeks in the field as well...ughhh. Even after doing "field laundry" while in the booies...getting back and taking a shower...would always go ..my god what is that stench?? ohh...guess i need to do the laundry....never could wait till the following morning..

these knuckleheads really dont have a clue! when asked why are you here protesting, most give the ...."umm I'm here for the people!"
The protesters most likely drove to the protest in a car made by a corporation whose union workers pension is invested on Wall Street carrying signs crated from products that were created by corporations. They use their cell phones made by corporations to call and brag to their friends about being at the protest while drinking water bottled by a corporation. They open up their laptop computers made by a corporation to sign on to their Internet Service Provider which is also a corporation. They long on to the local news website to see how they are being reported upon by yet another corporation. For dinner tonight they are ordering pizza from yet another corporation. Corporations who for the most part are public entities whose stock is traded on Wall Street.

Will the NY's Department of Agriculture send in some sheep-dip?

Submitted by drsamherman on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 11:07am.

Just put the sheep deep into a giant pool and tell the moron protesters that they have to wade through it to get a free meal and a free iPhone on the other side. Just a little ruse to get them at least deodorized.

Sheep dip only removes parasites. They need something a lot stronger than that to get rid of the smell and it does not remove the klingnons from around the anus. Lord forgive me for that and bless the pygmies in Africa.

Just a quick public service message: mixing bleach and detergent can produce chlorine gas if the detergent has ammonia or any acid in it. Please don't do that, you can damage your lungs!

Lefty Media Help plus

Submitted by jon_torlin on Fri, 10/07/2011 - 11:33am.

I say Lefty Media Help plus because the plus is the WH, after all, we heard it from Soetoro, he's given his approval and even marching orders(mobilizing was the word he used if I remember) to the stinky dumb-ones.  I have a feeling he's going to do more than just mobilize, he'll somehow foment violence which is just one more violation of the office of President of which he is not deserving(hell, he needs to be tossed out!).

At some point, this will become a hostage situation, but the protestors are NOT the hostages, it'll be the country as this nonsense builds up around the country.

Climate Change is Corporations and Carbon Trading Markets

Submitted by mememine69 on Sat, 10/08/2011 - 5:29pm.

Occupy Has Left Climate Change Behind:
Climate Change is off the table as TAXING THE AIR and corporate run Carbon Trading Stock Markets are more of the same BULL$IT and not part of our struggle. Climate Change is not listed in OccupyWallStreets list of demands and assumed to be the tragic exaggeration that 25 years of crisis warnings shows it to have been. Pollution is real, death by CO2 was not.
