Conservative Character Ruins Halloween With One Line on 'American Housewife'

On the ABC comedy American Housewife, Katie Ott (Katy Mixon) bemoans Raisinets by saying they’re like “health food in a perfectly good bag of candy.” In this episode, I consider their depiction of Republicans as the unwelcome Raisinet in my candy bag. The only difference is that I can’t take it out.

When discussing Halloween plans, the episode “Westport Zombies” must of course remind everyone how obnoxious Republican son Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) can be. This week Oliver calls Halloween “a celebration of handouts and encourages a welfare-state mentality in our kids.” Yes, in a liberal Hollywood writer's world, conservatives hate children, candy, and fun.

Greg: Hey, Oliver, you want to do some zombie-ing with me and Anna-Kat this weekend?

Oliver: Halloween is a celebration of handouts and encourages a welfare-state mentality in our kids.

Anna-Kat: And you don't like Halloween because you freak out.

Forget Raisinets, what qualifies to them as jokes is bad enough to spoil my Halloween.
