Another Day, Another Softball MSNBC Interview with Perez Hilton

MSNBC's Contessa Brewer stated yesterday after pageant owner Donald Trump proclaimed Carrie Prejean would continue her reign as Miss California, that the controversy over her defense of marriage as one man and one woman "is a good jumping off point for a conversation about same-sex marriage, about hypocrisy."

Based on Brewer's softball interview with "celebrity gossip columnist" Perez Hilton, it's clear she does not want a conversation. She wants Prejean to apologize for her beliefs and to Hilton.

Brewer failed to mention that the "sparring" began after Hilton directed a verbal beating at Prejean and posted it on his blog shortly after the April 19 Miss USA pageant ended. Hilton called Prejean a "dumb b----" in his rant, and in a separate MSNBC interview, stated, "hey, I was thinking the c- word and I didn't say it."

Hilton insisted to Brewer, in response to the question of how he scored Prejean's answer in the competition, that he "marked her low because it was a competition and she did not answer that question as well as she could have. She could have still been Biblically correct and spoken from her heart while giving an answer that would not have been instantly divisive and alienated millions of people."

Brewer didn't ask the obvious follow-up question: "How can she be Biblically correct and not alienate people when the Bible is clear on the definition of marriage?"

She simply let Hilton continue, "I think what people forget is we're asking these women questions, not as whom they are, but as the potential next Miss USA." Neither Brewer nor Hilton noted that as Miss California, Prejean was representing not only her personal views but the majority view of her state, as evidenced by last November's passage of Proposition 8.

Hilton later insisted, unchallenged from Brewer, that the controversy "has nothing to do with gay marriage. Nothing whatsoever...and everything to do with homophobia. And with the fact that majority of this country still think that being gay is abnormal, and being gay is sinful and bad."

Another question Brewer failed to ask was, "If the majority of Americans are against gay marriage, wouldn't Prejean's answer represent she is in touch with this country's belief?" Instead, Brewer stated, "Well, I wanted to give you chance to talk about that but I would be um, remiss, if I didn't ask you, what did you think about Donald Trump's decision to allow her to keep her crown?"

Unfortunately, despite her best efforts Brewer was remiss, by not asking about the foul names Hilton hurled at Prejean, by simply giving him another soapbox and telling viewers Prejean should apologize to the person who bullied her for her beliefs.

Colleen, Colleen, Colleen

My dear Colleen.... give this a rest would you please! This young woman actually has an opinion of her "own" unlike the broken record of the liberal agenda that demand everyone bow to the demands of the radical homosexual movement. Shouldn't we be tolerant of those who disagree with us! Not if you are liberal!

Hey mikaeltoo, what is your point here? That they do not blog

things like this in the news?

Do you know the purpose for NB's existence?  It is to publish things like this to illustrate the bias of the MSM.

Maybe I have missed something, but your post is rather confusing.

 I think he was being

I think he was being sarcastic.

At least that's the way I took it.

Hopefully we'll know soon

The suspense is killing me.

He is saying that Miss Cali is not being pc

and that she was right not to pander to perez hilton and other gay marriage advocates.

Then he touts how liberals always claim to be tolerant, when in fact they aren't when it comes to an opposing view point.

Thanks for the posts all!

I'm slow today and thanks for the help : )

She also forgot to ask him

She also forgot to ask him how he can support Obama if the president's viewpoint is the same as Prejean's...

 Hilton later insisted,

Hilton later insisted, unchallenged from Brewer, that the controversy
"has nothing to do with gay marriage. Nothing whatsoever...and
everything to do with homophobia.

Hilton can't even be truthful! He did not ask her what she thought of homosexuality; he asked her what she thought of gay marriage!  And that's the question she answered. And that's where the controversy came from.

Now that he has lost the war, he's trying to redefine the battle.

motherbelt

I think its kind of difficult to say that Hilton lost the war at all. Becasue of his question Ms. Carrie saw her chances of winning vanish and since that night I think 4 other states have passed gay marriage bills that allow it, and what is is, 6 total now?

The gay agenda is getting their way very quickly and without any real opposition.

I think its unfair that he is putting words in her mouth and basically asserting that she is homophobic, but like it or not the tally mark's are etching thmeselves on his side rapidly since this whole controversy started. Obviously he isnt the reason for this, but it sure makes him out to be the hero as state after state is now giving the go ahead for this non traditional marriage.

Its rather shocking to see the country changing this fast. I really don't know what to make of it.

"Democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man." - Ronald Reagan

You're right; I had it

You're right; I had it backwards.

He lost the battle (trying to get her crown taken away) so he is redefining the war.  Now it's not about same-sex marriage, it's about homophobia...defined as not supporting same-sex marriage.

I share your dismay at the direction the country is taking.

It used to be that when someone (or some group) had an idea for something new that would really shake up the status quo, the onus was on them to show why it would be a good thing...in other words, to answer the question "why should we???"

Now,  the shoe is on the other foot.  When a new, radical idea rears its head, the traditionalists are supposed to prove why it would not be a good thing... in short, instead of "why should we do it differently?" the question now is "why shouldn't we???"

Moving the Goal Posts

What Perez Hilton (fake name and all) did was move the goal posts. Same sex marriage wins when unelected courts and spineless legislators approve it. When the people vote it loses. Prejean responded to the boor's question respectfully. Hilton attacked her personally. That is what passes for public discourse. When liberals hear something they do not like they use personal insults instead of rational arguments, which indicates they have no rational arguments. Or they move the goal posts. I said three out of five not two out of three, B*****.

And who's that other fab celebrity* who has also weighed in on the WRONG side of Fatassium Chloride?

The one who keeps drawing "get-out-of-jail-free cards" on this issue?

Perez = DAMAGE

Perez Hilton has damaged the gay marriage movement and proponents know it.  I read today that the universal opinion on gay message boards is this jerk should just shut-up.  If he wasn't such a publicity seeking Queen the world wouldn't know who Prejean was.  It has blown up in their faces.

Re Trump

I was pleasantly surprised at how supportive Trump was of Prejean, but I didn't understand why he said he would be happy to have Perez back next year as a judge. After all the garbage he has dumped on one of Trump's candidates, why would he bother? Or is he just taking a pass on the question?

And why would a gay guy be a judge of a female beauty contest? Isn't that like a vegetarian judging a rib-tasting contest?

And also intimidation

He is afraid that he will be the next to be attacked as a homophobe.

Mentioned this in another thread...Memo to Perez...

The voters of the very state you and Miss California call home voted against gay marriage last year.

She isn't being a hypocrite, she is echoing the sentiments of the 7 million voters out of 13 million who voted to ban gay marriage.

Paris Hilton isn't gay

He's a faggot

There's a big difference

"We sit together, the mountain and I, until only the mountain remains." -Li Po

Paris?  We've been talking

Paris?  We've been talking about Paris Hilton all this time?  She's gay?  How does Nicole feel?

It's possible to be against

It's possible to be against gay marraige but not be homophobic.  However, it doesn't appear to be possible to be FOR gay marraige and not be hateful and spiteful.

I guess Hilton expects Miss California to be like a politician, forget morals and values to attain a goal.  Thankfully, Carrie Preajean is NOT politicial material.

Idiocy at its most pure

Wow. Hilton's defense is that she should have answered the question as a "representative of the pageant." But then, that means that she should have known that the pageant was in favor of gay marriage.

Wow. A beauty pageant is officially in favor of gay marriage. Which means ... a beauty pageant takes stands on social issues?

  • Were the contestants briefed on pageant social policy?
  • What's the pageant's view of teen sex?
  • Do they have a foreign policy?
  • Were the contestants briefed on the UN Resolution 1441?
  • When were the contestants briefed on the pageant's official Mideast policy? Do they understand what we mean by the Gaza Strip?

What an idiot ...

He meant that she should

He meant that she should have answered in the politically correct, approved manner.

In other words....."World Peace!"

 "And with the fact that

"And with the fact that majority of this country still think that being gay is abnormal, and being gay is sinful and bad."

Well, that's because it is you dumb s***.  Get over it.

Instead of attacking someone that answered a question you asked in a manner you didn't like, do yourself a favor and *try* to explain how homosexuality is in any way "normal" or "not sinful" or "good".  Back it up with something other than your opinion.

It's not normal (scientifically or psychologically).  It is deeply sinful.  It is in no way good.  You have basic rights and protections as a citizen of this country under the constitution.  That in no way means you deserve special treatment because of your perversion.  That really doesn't mean you can destroy a religious institution like marriage that has stood since Adam just to feed your sick addiction.
