MRC's Seton Motley Discusses Tea Party Media Bias on 'Fox & Friends'

  • Bookmark and Share

Media Research Center's Seton Motley appeared on FNC's Fox & Friends on April 16th to talk about the egregious media bias in covering the tax day TEA Party protests. And there was no shortage of bias to talk about.

Of CNN's Susan Roesgen's openly hostile reporting from one event, Motley said, "She was totally in attack mode. She was almost angry to be there."

He also addressed the juvenile pornographic references by CNN's Anderson Cooper and MSNBC,  which he referred to as "Nestea-Plunging" "so as to not sink to their level."

Motley added "They can't get any more biased, so they decided to go vulgar too."

Angry that it wasn't what Anderson Cooper portrayed it to be.

That's because liberals

That's because liberals perfer Kool-aid more than tea.

an education

First I learned what foot touching in airports really means, now I'm fully briefed on "teabagging".  The name calling and finger pointing doesn't seem to be a productive use of time.

My question is what now?  People are upset, we control neither the House, Senate or Presidency.  Conservative views are considered potentially harmful to society or a least so says Homeland Security.  What is the next step?  (If anyone says wait two years and vote, I'll scream)  I'm feeling pretty much marginalized.  Just wondering.

Divided nation

America is a deeply divided nation. The divison is fed by the media. If these Tea Parties had been to free a convicted murderer the coverage would have been entirely different, and every honest person knows it.

That being said, if the creeps at CNN won't stop, so be it. The cultural war is coming to a head. Texas governor Perry has it right. And ironically, disgraced former presidential candidate Edwards also had it right-- there are indeed TWO AMERICAS.

Where will it all end?

Sad.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Divided nation indeed! I

Divided nation indeed! I think it is a result of the tough times in all liberal media. The more they are under pressure the more we see the veil come off. This is going to get much more ugly as the cultural war proceeds. The media is already in a civil war...

To his credit, Joe

To his credit, Joe Scarborough blasted the idiotic infantile vulgar comments by Shuster and Cooper on his show this morning.

Family viewing?

Roesgen says the tea party isn't fit for family viewing while the CNN and MSNBC commentators are carrying on a running oral sex gag?

Nail/head. You said

Nail/head.

You said something that should have been obvious to me, but I got the connection just now.  Thanks!

It's getting worse

I know LOTS of people who are buying into this media propaganda about the "evils" of "these idiots and racist Obama haters" who are attending these "Fox News-sponsored Tea-bagging parties". And not one will watch a Fox program or read anything that speaks about the reality of all this. NOT ONE! They'd rather parrot what Obby and his ilk say. But these are the very same who screamed how THEY were true Americans because they stood against Bush! The hypocrisy and stupidity is running wild, people!

I caught this early this morning here in my home...

Job well done sir...

You spoke for millions of us out here in the real world.

Thank YOU!

Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart

What can you do?

As Glenn Beck has mentioned, "we surround them." We outnumber them, but portrayal of McCain as too centrist kept part of us away from the polls, while the media branding of Palin as being overly religious kept others on our side away from the polls. Add to that the lack of leadership and organization in the GOP, and we end up where we are today. The GOP isn't the best answer, and its '08 ticket was far from perfect, but it sure as hell beats the alternative we ended up with.

Somehow we understand that talking to deranged dictators won't make the world a safer place, yet we don't understand that playing fair, nice and polite with our internal enemies won't make America a safer place.

Remember Reagan's mantra, "Peace through superior firepower." We surround them, we outnumber them, we have the power, we just need to gain the will to use that power.

The left knows that controlling the media means controlling the message. Right now, Fox is the only network providing balanced coverage of our side.

We have the power to improve that equation.

ABC is owned by Disney, and I'm betting ABC revenues don't amount to a fraction of the money Disney makes off of selling Disney junk to those of us outside the far left. Stop buying Disney crap for even a few months, let it be known that it's because of the leftward slant at ABC, and heads will roll at ABC.

CNN and NBC are a bit less exposed, but they answer to Time-Warner and GE respectively, so they are susceptible to pressure against their other subsidiaries:AOL, New Line Cinema, Time Inc., HBO, Turner Broadcasting System, The CW Television Network, TheWB.com, UBU Productions, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Kids' WB, The CW4Kids, Cartoon Network, CNN, DC Comics, and Mohawk Productions, in the case of Time-Warner, along with GE Appliances, GE Lighting, Universal Studios, Universal Parks & Resorts in the case of GE.

We are funding the enemy. Stop it. Loudly and with great fanfare. Now.

If you are employing any lefty drones, make sure they are the first ones cut from your payroll. Don't support any left leaning companies with your purchases.

We can win in 2010 and 2012, but not if we continue to sit idly by while funding the opposition.

If McCain WAS Allowed To Be Centrist, I Would Have Voted For Him

The only reason I voted for Obama was because of that RNC attack ad that claimed that there was an effort by liberals to wage war on Christmas. That's when I thought to myself, you've lost my vote. The fact of the matter was that McCain wasn't allowed to be a centrist. A centrist does not choose to have a pernicious jerk like Gov. Palin as a running mate (and I'd also say that about plug-haired Joe Biden, but he was a little more tolerable for my tastes.) A centrist tries to reach out to all his constituents. Obama has been doing that by ordering the Navy to kill the Somali pirates and rescue the captain, while he has also been reaching out to secularists like me (not that secularism is purely a liberal thing, I hope.)

If you look at the data from the election results, McCain won in states where candidates more conservative than him lost. And McCain lost in states where the Republican candidates in their respective senate seats were more liberal (including that so-called "gang of three".)

Yes, the country is divided, but not in half, but by thirds: one/third conservative, one/third liberal, and one/third sane--er, I mean, independent people. It can't be anymore simpler. These TEA parties are not representative of us independents, at least not independents like me who like to make dirty jokes, but also feel their is a more effective way to communicating the frustration with tax-and-spending. Sure, I didn't particularly like the way the liberal media covered it, but that fault is to be shared by all three of those cable channels, including Fox News because it incessantly promoted these TEA parties. MSNBC and CNN were clearly biased against the parties, but Fox News was clearly biased in favor of these TEA parties. In the end, only results mattered. And as far as I can tell, no results came from it.

P.S.: Reagan said "Peace through strength", not superior fire power. Oh, and the CW4Kids is only liscened to the CW by 4Kids Entertainment (the former anime dubbers for Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!) so nice try.

I think it is funny

Your apologizing for your vote. My conscious is good.

McCain IS 'Centrist'

Or, more accurately, a 'moderate'. That's why he lost. Having Palin on the ticket saved him from a greater humiliation.

A centrist tries to reach out to all his constituents. Obama has been
doing that by ordering the Navy to kill the Somali pirates and rescue
the captain
Huh? Is that the best example you can cite for 'reaching out'?

By your estimation then, Obama is a 'centrist'? Well, good luck with that. Unfortunately, we all have to suffer the consequences of your uninformed vote.

Get A Clue Or Go Home

Hey Sticky, you don't really think anybody here believes you changed your vote over one TV commercial, do you? Nice try.

As for the commercial, I'm an agnostic bordering on atheist, and even I can see (and disagree with) the widespread effort by the libs to try and sanitize any non-secular Christmas representation from public venues. Wake up and smell the mistletoe, Sticky.

P.S. When I was 10 feet away from him, I heard Reagan phrase it as "superior firepower." Not that there's an exclusive difference between strength and superior firepower. Also, the CW is still 50% owned by Time-Warner, regardless of who they license content from. Again, nice try Sticky.

Hello Michael Steele!

Here is the perfect example of why we need to NOT WORRY about the so-called independent voter.

Talk about a parodox of confusion, self loathing, and government edmuctuction (or whatever it is the public schools do these days).

I'm not going to rip this poor fella any more than that....but seriously, have you ever read anything more pathetic in your life?  Loping leaps of liberal illogic....excessive koolaid drinking...it is truly sad.

And I hope my fellow posters won't hop on poor 7sticks...I believe he was trying to be totally sincere with that post...hence there is hope.  Let us be kind, and gentle, and lead this poor lost soul, away from the kool-aid, and to thoughtful analysis of facts and reality.

I hope he fails, too.

Is Fox News in any way

Is Fox News in any way biased in their coverage of the tea parties?

what an ODD question

what an ODD question Bal

I think it's interesting,

I think it's interesting, because I swear it looks like Fox News is actually putting these protests on, like a FN show or something.

Bal, are you playing the cute ignorant ignoramus again?

huh? Beav'?

so Fox shows the actual event

and they are the biased ones?

but as usual a topic is broached here and you automatically galvanize to the opposing viewpoint.  I just find your behavior ODD to continually come here to oppose any given topic.

Fair and Balanced to a liberal means..

... sending a reporter (like CNN did) out to attack those that would dare disagree with their Messiah.

Where's Hillary? Doesn't she support the idea of disagreeing with an administration no matter who's in the Whitehouse?

No, I think all the news

No, I think all the news outlets should cover it, but it seems (and I admit I could be wrong) that FN is making it into a personal Woodstock or something. People who were so opposed to liberal protests of the Bush administration are suddenly completely enamored with "dissent" and protest.

And absolutely that woman from CNN was behaving like an idiot. I completely agree. She was deranged. And I have NOTHING against the tea parties. People should protest if they're unhappy.

Do you dissagree with the protest?

Why wouldnt Fox do something they thought might help their ratings? Isnt that what it is all about? BTW dont you think the other networks just feel out of place in the company of honest middle of the road folks? I do.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

I disagree with the protest.

I disagree with the protest. I think it's a bit much this soon into Obama's administration. I have no problem that they're doing it.

Sure, FN should cover it. But they seem to be trying to make it into something bigger than it is, at least to me, like it's the marches on Selma or something.

As for networks feeling "out of place in the company of honest middle of the road folks"...no.

It isnt to soon.

considering what this Admin has floated so far. The DHS claiming millions of us are dangerous, the congress targeting individual citizens, the fact that his budget is 13% of GDP and will increase yearly. No it's not to soon

My Gov. thinks I am dangerous, so be careful

How is congress targeting

How is congress targeting individual citizens?
