No Politics Here? 'Obama Call Was a Lesson For His Girls,' NYTimes Assures Readers on Fluke Controversy

By Clay Waters | March 07, 2012 | 14:21

No political motivations here! Devoting a full story to President Obama calling birth-control activist Sandra Fluke for the sake of his daughters, New York Times reporter Jackie Calmes (and her headline writer) on Wednesday gave the president the benefit of the doubt by not questioning the propriety of dragging his young daughters into the debate over Fluke, who was called a "slut" by Rush Limbaugh on his radio show: "Obama Call Was a Lesson For His Girls."

President Obama, speaking publicly for the first time about Rush Limbaugh’s slur of a law student on his radio show last week, said on Tuesday that he had called the woman, Sandra Fluke, in part to set an example for his daughters.

“I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on,” Mr. Obama said at a televised news conference at the White House. “I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way, and I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re being good citizens.”

Mr. Obama confirmed what had been known about the call only from Ms. Fluke’s account, which she has repeated since the Friday conversation to multiple reporters and television shows. He declined a reporter’s invitation to pass judgment on the sincerity of Mr. Limbaugh’s subsequent apology or on his loss of advertisers in the controversy.

Media Matters, the DNC and Obysmal all in lockstep and Rush helped them out.

Willow Palin

Submitted by Brad Brzezinski on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 2:36pm.

It would have been a better lesson for his girls if he'd called Willow Palin after Letterman's "jocular" assault. That would have given the same lesson plus one of separating politics from personal life. In addition the victim is much closer to his daughters in age.

But that wouldn't have been as helpful TO HIM.

Letterworm

Submitted by Chulio on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 3:59pm.

Didn't Obama go on the Letterman show since then--and then read Dave the riot act?

The real lesson for Obama's 2 little girls will be when he insists that the Obama Super Pac return the million dollar donation from Bill Maher. Nothing says commitment quite like a million dollars.

Sadly, I'm sure those little girls are already brainwashed Marxists who will make excellent community agitators someday. It will be a miracle if they're not the female equivalent of Al Sharpton and just get regular jobs.

They WON'T be community

Submitted by killa37 on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 11:53pm.

They WON'T be community organizers, that's for sure!!! You think Mooooooooooochelle is going to let those girls go hang around a bunch of 'common black folk'??? The Obamas are SEVERE elitists, and Moooooooooooochelle is probably worse than Barry, if that's possible.

Plus, those girls are going to be RICH, and they won't have to do anything that they don't feel like doing..........and if they're anything like their parents, their time will be spent doing nothing productive - except for themselves.

I hate to sound like that towards young people, because I love young people..........but at some point, ya just gotta see it for what it is!!!

Oh - and I think it was cheap-ass high-school bullsh*t the way Boy Barry somehow managed to integrate his daughters into this Limbaugh crap.................I can't remember him ever doing anything like that when the shoe was on the other foot. And who was the wind-up-doll reporter who dutifully asked the question, anyway. NONE of this is 'coincidental'!!!

Lesson for his daughters?

Submitted by Willis_Leon_Johnson on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 3:50pm.

"Gee Honey, if you DEMAND the TAXPAYERS pay for things you should be paying for on your own, EXPECT to be called unflattering names!"

"If you, like ms fluke insist on demanding others pay for her recreational activities, then expect to be called a 'slut', 'whore', 'prostitute' as well as a very long list of other derogatory names.  And deservedly so."

I don't think that's what he told them though.  Felony child abuse is what he should be charged with.

Lesson for Little Liberal Girls

Submitted by therese on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 4:20pm.

Here is the lesson.

Daddy is an opportunistic weasel. See girls, daddy doesn't like Mr. Limbaugh so when Mr. Limbaugh says "slut" I make a big f'n deal about it. But when guys I like say "slut" and send me a $1million dollar check, I say, thank you.

The irony

Submitted by Model850 on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 5:20pm.

“I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way, and I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re being good citizens.”

Maybe he can get Maxine Waters to tutor his girls on how to respond to "good citizens" who "speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way."

I thought he was against home schooling?

Submitted by drsamherman on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 5:31pm.

If this were a lesson intended to teach his girls something about respect, he should have completed the lesson by calling out all of the misogynists in his own party.

Liberal hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.

Advertisers Who Dumped Rush

Submitted by berlet98 on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 7:02pm.

Advertisers Who Dumped Rush

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

Politico.com gleefully and triumphantly posted a report that sponsors are bailing out in droves on conservative icon Rush Limbaugh’s nationally syndicated radio show in a kneejerk reaction to the predictable, leftist reaction to the Great Slut Controversy regarding liberal activist, Sandra Fluke.

Yesterday, Politico gleefully listed the following bailers: AccuQuote Life Insurance, Allstate Insurance, AOL, Bare Escentuals, Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Bonobos, Carbonite, Cascades Dental, Citrix, Girl Scouts, Goodwill Industries, Hadeed Carpet, JCPenney, Legal Zoom, Matrix Direct, Philadelphia Orchestra, PolyCom, ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, Reputation Rhino, Sears, Sensa, Service Magic, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Tax Resolution, Thompson Creek Windows and Vitacost.

I can’t vouch for Politico’s accuracy since that website has been in President Barack Hussein Obama’s vest pocket for years. The whole slut controversy has been concocted to destroy Limbaugh and to absurdly paint conservatives as anti-woman to lock up their votes for Obama in November.

As with every conservative I know, I love the fair sex.

A more reliable listing of companies and organizations which have succumbed to misguided political correctness out of pusillanimous fear of Obama’s wrath: Sleep Number, The Sleep Train, Quicken Loans, Legal Zoom, Citrix, Carbonite, ProFlowers, Tax Resolution, AOL, Bonobos, Sears, and Allstate Insurance.
