NY Times Reporter Asks If It's 'Dangerous' for GOP to Insult Occupy Wall Street Leftists
The New York Times “Caucus” podcast recorded December 1 featured reporter and podcast host Sam Roberts wondering if it was a potentially dangerous tactic” for GOP candidates to insult the Occupy Wall Street movement. This exchange came a minute and a half from the end, after Roberts asked how the Occupy movement’s “99%” slogan was playing out in the Republican primary.
Trip Gabriel: “From what I’ve seen, you know, it’s a foil for these candidates. They are using it to kind of attack the whole Occupy movement and the whole ‘99%’ slogan as examples of class warfare. These are big broad targets for many Republicans and Republican commentators and they might have more of a role come general election time, when there’s a Democrat who might be making the same arguments that the Occupy movement made. But at this point it’s a crowd-pleasing line, you know, from a Newt Gingrich or a Michele Bachmann to rip these demonstrators. You know, ‘Why don’t they go out and get a job?’ You know, they shouldn’t, ‘What do they want, us to pay their college tuitions and buy them cars?’"
Sam Roberts: “Is that a potentially dangerous tactic, since even most Republican voters are more likely to be among the 99 percent than the one percent?”

Airing their hopes as legitimate questions.
When they aren't disguising them as predictions.....
Unless it is proven to me

Unless it is proven to me otherwise. I consider the occupy wall street people as liberals/democrats, whom are dissatisfied with their own party.
They are all in cities which are predominantly Democrat.
Ummmmm, let me think about it...

No, it's not.
Hardly. The OWSers have energized Republicans to vote.

Three things, Sam Roberts:
1) Everybody holds the filth (defecation on police cars), crime (rape, theft, prostitution, drugs) and insane demands (student loan forgiveness, high-paying and no-work jobs) to be disgusting and selfish;
2) The images of 1968 still burn in a number of older voters eyes--ones that do not wish to see that degeneracy again; and
3) The 0.001% who are protesting are children of the 1%--how does that make it democratic?
Until someone from that OWS movement can make a coherent statement that does not sound like some whiny teenager demanding his/her own car and a complete free ride to an Ivy League university, they will continue to be held in contempt by most Americans. End of story.
The last thing I fear is a hippie. That being said,

I am one of the 53% who pays for the 47% who accept some form of gov't assistance. Am I the fool? Time will tell...
I think they are mistaking

I think they are mistaking the term 'insult' for 'a statement of reality'...............which is often the case when someone is being called out on their hypocrisy, idoicy, and phoniness.
And when they 'insult' us, it's usually to cover up their own hypocrisy and phoniness. And since when was telling somebody to take a bath and look for a job an 'insult' anyway??? I sure as hell wouldn't hire any of these people - especially if they've got the time on their hands to hang around some squalid public park for a couple of months, instead of trying to do something productive. Did ANYTHING productive come out of these bowel movements.............besides the 'production' of hundreds of tons of trash, rubbish, filth, and pestilence???
Hate to break the news...

GOP candidates ARE pleasing the crowd. They're pleasing the 53% who work their asses off so these few thousand protestors can clearly demonstrate how ignorant, misinformed, illiterate, and disgusting they truly are. And though I'm no math genius, a few thousand in a nation of 300 million doesn't, even with liberal math, add up to 99%...

The GOP risks losing all those far-left, progressive, voters that make up the OWS movement. Better not piss them off or they might vote for Brack Insane Oblamer, the "Vacationer-In-Chief"...again.
OWS vs Tea Partiers

Was Sam Roberts concerned when Democrats were maligning Tea Partiers that it was a potentially dangerous tactic?
OWS is a narrow segment of leftist/commie/hippies. Tea Partiers include independents who want smaller government.
Democrats showed their true colors when they hurled all sorts of insults at the Tea Partiers.

On the other hand Tea Partiers are crack shots. GOP should keep speaking if the Tea Party wants them to speak.
