NY Times's Steinhauer Cites Conservative Allen West's 'Incendiary Remarks,' 'Hard-Right' Stands
New York Times reporter Jennifer Steinhauer piled on the ideological labels in her Friday profile of Florida’s freshman Republican Rep. Allen West, a black conservative and Tea party activist: “Conservative Congressman’s Star Power Extends Beyond Florida District.”
Steinhauer’s profile, while not overtly hostile, contained no less than eight ideological labels to describe the “conservative” West, not including the first word of the headline, while his comments on feminism and support for Israel were labeled “incendiary.” This from a newspaper that constantly refers to the truly incendiary Al Sharpton as a “civil rights activist.” A sampling:
But the most compelling part of Representative Allen B. West of Florida is his own biography, there for all to see: an African-American Tea Party activist Republican congressman and ally of hard-right Israelis who, after his beloved career in the Army ended under a cloud, defeated the sitting Democrat in a largely white, politically polarized district here and quickly became one of the right’s most visible spokesmen.

Mr. West’s popularity among conservatives goes far beyond South Florida. He was chosen to give the keynote speech in February at the Conservative Political Action Conference, and is frequently featured on the Fox News Channel and in other conservative settings where he enjoys explaining, reiterating or unleashing any number of incendiary remarks concerning what he often calls “the other side.”

Mr. West’s political beliefs hew closely to the most conservative members of the House; he was among the 59 House Republicans who voted against a deal worked out with Democrats to finance the government through the rest of the year, arguing that the included spending cuts did not go far enough, and says he will not vote to lift the nation’s debt ceiling without more cuts.
His views on the Middle East tend to tack even more to the right of the strongest supporters of Israel. During his campaign, Mr. West posted on his Web site a statement saying: “I do not support any creation of a Palestinian state, to do so would be to create a terrorist state. There is already a state for the Arabic people residing in the region called Palestine, Jordan.”

Allen West is a wonderful guy. I hope to cast my vote for him in a presidential election soon.
My concern is he is in for the "Sarah Palin treatment" soon cuz he doesn't fit the template of a black guy on Uncle Sam's plantation (thanks Star Parker). He didn't graduate from an Ivy League school and he doesn't worship at the alter of race politics and the shakedown artists.
Mr. West, please hold fast to your ethics, integrity and standards. We out here in flyover country are with you every step of the way.

That is the NY Times at its most "impartial" best. All you need to read to know what she will say is "he defeated a sitting democrat". In fact think of the ink and paper that could be saved by the NY Times. They could just title the article "Allen West who defeated a sitting democrat". Liberals would wet themselves imagining all the evil things such a horrible person could say or do.

The ease with which Allen West deconstructs the positions of the left, using reason and common sense, must be terrifying to them. He possesses a wisdom which they are seemingly unable to comprehend. Steinhauer's failed attempt to build a boogeyman of West is pretty desperate. Tearing West down with false characterizations must be fairly important to her if this all appears in one piece.
Apparently the truth and reason concerning the policies of the left equal incendiary tactics to Steinhauer, while her own parallel statements she must consider acceptable.
If Allen West is "hard right" to her, does she consider herself center? It seems to me that West is pretty close to the opinions of most Americans, which to me would make him a little right of center.

Wow, with reporting like this you couldn't ask for a better outcome. The NYT's stock price slumped another 3+% today to just over $8. Soon, it will be worth less than the cost of its own Sunday paper.
In other "news" an investor has offered to buy the BostonGlobe, another left wing bomb thrower of a newspaper that is owned by the NYT for $200 million. That's worse than the $1 that Newsweak went for! lol
A year ago, the NYT had to sell their headquarter's building then lease it back due to financial difficulties.
At this rate, the whole enterprise could be bought by AOL and have to share quarters with the wankers at the Huff n' Puff . . . .
