ObamaCare's Baby Death Panels (Part 2)

By Chuck Norris | January 18, 2011 | 13:37

A  A
Chuck Norris's picture

I finished Part 1 last week informing you that in just a single year, from 2008-09, Planned Parenthood received $363.2 million in government grants and contracts, a $13.6 million increase from the previous year, which resulted in 324,800 abortions.

I then left you to ponder this question, which Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, asked more than a year ago: "Why should people of conscience be forced to participate in any aspect of abortion?"

That is exactly where Washington is leading us unless this 112th Congress detours from forcing pro-life citizens to pay for abortions via Obamacare or the passing of some legislation like the Freedom of Choice Act.

Thank God the pro-life cavalry has come to Washington. But it needs our help to rally our representatives.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Given that the 112th Congress is the most pro-life Congress in recent history, now is the time to act and stop government subsidies killing innocent unborn life. I'd even challenge tea parties across our country to fight for the unborn as hard as we do for fiscal frugalness and the Constitution.

In our passionate pursuit to cure our economy, are we abandoning those who one day will run it? We must fight equally for freedom fighters within the womb and those outside of it. Abortion isn't health care!

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation establishing National Sanctity of Human Life Day, which also was issued by Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. It is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day (Jan. 22) on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the Supreme Court in 1973.

This year, tens of millions will commemorate another Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (Jan. 23) in tens of thousands of churches across America. If you want to make a difference this year, here are eight excellent action items:

—Encourage your church's leaders to join the throng of others in commemorating Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Send them this article, along with your thoughts and the contact information for the official Sanctity of Human Life Sunday website (http://www.sohls.org, 205-979-7909), so they can find out different ways they can highlight the fight for life on Jan. 23.

—Sign the Family Research Council's latest petition to Congress. Go to http://www.frc.org, and click on "action." Then click on "Help American taxpayers get out of the abortion business."

—Personally contact your representative and senators at 202-224-3121 or http://www.house.gov and http://www.senate.gov, and then contact the White House (202-456-2111, fax: 202-456-2461). Tell them that as an American citizen, you demand them to fight for the rights of the unborn. Ask them to join Rep. Joseph Pitts, R-Pa., and Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-Ill., in their legislation, the Protect Life Act, Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., in his reintroduction of the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, as well as Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and Lipinski in their reintroduction of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.

—Oppose the work and government financing of Planned Parenthood, which has just filed a restraining order trying to keep you from discovering information from a former Planned Parenthood director (Bryan, Texas) and "Employee of the Year," Abby Johnson. There's no doubt why; Abby already has helped to expose the multibillion-dollar marketing of abortion, in the fifth episode of the Emmy-winning series "Facing Life Head-On," available to watch online. She also is blowing the whistle on her former employer and telling the shocking truth about everything that she saw inside the abortion industry — and why she resigned her job to join the pro-life movement — in her brand-new book, "Unplanned." (You can get a free chapter of it at http://UnplannedWebcast.com.)

—Join the 40 Days for Life campaign at http://40DaysForLife.com. It runs from March 9 to April 17.

—Read the article "50 Ways To Help Unborn Babies and Their Mothers," by my friend and prolific author Randy Alcorn. It's one of a host of great resources at his website, http://www.epm.org.

—Get involved supporting and fighting for the future generations in your local community — for example, in your schools, in your churches or through nonprofit children's foundations, such as mine, KickStart Kids.

—And to give you hope, my wife, Gena, and I would also encourage you to visit the website http://www.IAmSecond.com, started by our dear friends Norm and Anne Miller. In particular, please listen there to the powerful testimony of Lisa Luby Ryan. It is well worth the short time it takes to view.

Washington and America don't need to "turn the page" on culture wars such as abortion. Rather, we need to reopen the pages of our history to our Founders' elevated views of and rights for all human beings (including those in the womb), as documented in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. We need to revive and re-instill their value of humanity back into society, our children and our children's children.

Fifty-six Founders signed the Declaration of Independence to testify that all human life is "created equal, that (all humans) are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness — That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed."

That is exactly why Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1809 at the end of his presidency, "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

Washington, could wording be any clearer?

Your tax dollars can go to the BS wars you support, and my tax dollars will be spent on women's health.

Or, what about the tax subsidies Norris Brothers Entertainment received for shooting in Texas?  Would you like to give that money back to the taxpayers who might've wanted their tax dollars spent elsewhere?

In fact, that's where most of their profit comes from. /s

And for a non-profit, their profits are higher than many Fortune 500 companies. Plus they are sitting on almost a billion dollars in assets.

And they need our tax money why?

Let's take a look at the numbers.  The most recent I could find were for the year 2007.

www.plannedparenthood.org/files/AR08_vFinal.pdf

A breakdown of Planned Parenthood services:

31% STD/Infections Testing and Treatment

17% Cancer Screening and Prevention

11% Other Women's Health Services

3% Abortion Services

2% Other Services

36% Contraception

Clearly the focus of Planned Parenthood is not centered around abortion services, but contraception and treatment for cancer and STDs.

Cancer: $173 million

Other Women's health: $112 million

Abortion: $30.5 million

Other: $20.4 million

Contraception: $366.4 million

It should be noted that Planned Parenthood spent 10X more on contraception than they did on abortion services.

For the abortion-loving beancounter troll:

Submitted by SickofLibs on Tue, 01/18/2011 - 7:09pm.

In the 2007 PP AR, they claim 3,000,000 unique clients. Yet they performed 305,000 abortions.

So that means 10.13% of all clients came to them for an abortion, or approx. 350% higher than the meager 3%-of-revenue they claim... why they even point it out in their financials - the abortion $ amount is the only number on the entire spreadsheet bolded as if to point out it's insignificance.

So the numbers are even higher because obviously abortion clients would be having other services, too, such as pregnancy testing, prenatal care etc.

Now here's another tidbit from their annual report: they claim to have spent $228,964 on adoption referrals. And how many adoption referrals did they do nationwide? Why a staggering 4,912. So they SPEND $46 per referral. Yet they get to bill $500-1,000 for an abortion.

So you have the big picture now? 4,912 money-losing adoption referrals vs. 305,000 highly profitable abortions.

Now tell me again with a straight face baby-killing is not big business.

Excluding repeat clients, you

Submitted by One on Tue, 01/18/2011 - 7:25pm.

Excluding repeat clients, you may have a point.  But you have no point other than to skew more numbers in favor of an apparent propaganda statement.  Look at it this way, if a guy walks into PP once a week, every week for a year, just to get free condoms...and this happens quite often...the number of unique clients stays the same.  If a girl gets 2 abortions a year, again, one unique client.

The facts are right there.  Chuck pulled his numbers from the same source.  I suggest you do the same.

You, Mr. One, cannot have your cake and eat it too. You cannot promote a society with no moral fiber and then wonder why pro-lifers think we have no moral fiber.

Lest we bring about an abrupt change of subject, the positions I hold on societal morals is irrelevant.  We share many of the same morals, while still contrasting on the fundamental belief of abortion.

Are 2 parent families important?  Of course.  And it would be ideal in a perfect world.  But there is no perfect world, so we must pay attention to the imperfections and do our best to fix the problems.

Now which society with no moral fiber am I promoting?  And when did I accuse pro-lifers of having none?

I should ask why I have to pay for your another's children to go to public school?

Because some expenditures help our society as a whole.  If you're going to rail about abortion, take measures to help stop unwanted pregnancies.  So where would you rather your tax dollars go?  Abortions or birth control?

public school?

Submitted by Hoosier Conservative on Wed, 01/19/2011 - 4:25pm.

If it were up to me there'd be a lot more homeschooling and a lot less public education.

Where would I rather see my tax dollars go, to abortion or birth control - is that like asking do I still beat my wife? Read very carefully:

NEITHER

I know it doesn't fit into your nicely packaged question, but that is my answer.

Pro-lifers take steps all the time to stop unwanted pregnancies. It's called abstinence education, required notification to parents, and lack of a safety net that the state will give you a free abortion so you don't get caught.

We are constantly told that more birth control spending will bring down the number of abortions. It hasn't happened yet. All it's done is cause more girls to turn promiscuous and more "OMG this inconvenient baby will make my parents take me off the cheerleading squad" abortions.

YOU teach teenage girls how to have sex. YOU shove condoms into their hands and promise the nurse will help them hide it. YOU turn a blind eye when Planned Parenthood teaches them how to hide statutory rape. YOU tell them morals are arbitrary and an unwanted baby doesn't even deserve the basic respect of telling its grandparents it lived before being slaughtered.

I want my tax dollars going to tell young girls three basic things:

A) Having sex with a teenage boy making minimum wage is a stupid idea.

B) If you do it anyway, the resulting baby did not volunteer for that situation and is a lot more important than you getting into a better college.

B) If you need food or diapers for that baby, there are churches and charity groups all over your city who would help.

What is your quantitative reasoning behind such ridiculous statements?

First off, all abortions do not kill babies.  I could take you through the steps from conception to an embryo and on to the fetus, but I'd guess you have issues even with the morning after pill.  So I'll save us both some time.

Would I rather save a child than a terrorist?  Let's look at this realistically.  You seem to be more concerned with the termination of an unwanted pregnancy at any stage, so the analogy doesn't work.  Real, live breathing human beings have died over our democratization of Iraq, and not a tear is shed, but those first few weeks, before even a heartbeat is detected...THAT's the life you care about?

One knows that

Submitted by Hoosier Conservative on Wed, 01/19/2011 - 8:56pm.

But he would rather play dumb. Walking into the nurses' office (or the guidance counselor's office) of a typical public school is rather like walking into a Planned Parenthood seminar.

And then there's this...

"She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center," the mother told KOMO. "Nowhere in the paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion."

The form also allowed her daughter to receive birth control from the school's health clinic, the mother said.

But even so, the mother is furious that her daughter, who is on the school's honor roll, was given an abortion without the school notifying her parents.

"We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus," said the mother. "They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility."

A spokeswoman for the Seattle School District, which includes Ballard High School, declined to comment and referred all questions to the King County Health Department, the administrator of school-based health programs.

I've worked inside pharmacies before. I've heard the voices of parents calling to say they found birth control or the Plan B pill in their daughter's purse, and saying our pharmacy's label was on it. I've been in the heartbreaking position of having to tell irate mothers we cannot disclose the name of the doctor who prescribed it.

The left is really good at playing stupid with this. Stab parents in the back, talk down to them like they don't know what their children need, and then act shocked, SHOCKED, that parents aren't able to control their "wild teenagers."

These issues...

There are issues here that go beyond the public school.  For example, state law.  You forgot to quote that line from the story.  I'm guessing you forgot because, well, why would you falsify information that can be readily confirmed by clicking the link you provided?

In this case the school was following protocol, per state law.  Now one could argue that the school has no right prescribing birth control to students, but again that's up to the state.  And we don't know the circumstances behind the abortion.  Was the girl abused?  What would happen if the parents had found out?  Perhaps even the parents are pro-life while the daughter is pro-choice.  The truth is without all of the facts we're up to our imagination to fill in the blanks.

My high school, by the way, had no such curriculum.  Not even the condom on the banana.

Which schools teach students how to acquire abortions?

That was your question less than 24 hours ago. Now that I show you an example, you start babbling about state laws. In other words, you agree with me: there are public schools in America that act per state law in teaching teenagers how to get abortions.

Perhaps even the parents are pro-life while the daughter is pro-choice.

And yet here is what you said last night:

Blame the government, blame the media, blame liberals, but don't blame the parent for raising a child with poor morals.

Do you want parents making medical decisions for their children or not? Do you think a 15 year old girl is mature enough to decide that she's firmly pro-choice and ready for the emotional weight of getting an abortion all alone? Do you think public school administrators should teach children to how to lie to their parents and get an abortion without so much as a phone call home?

Either the parents are raising their own children, or they are fighting a losing battle against a system that teaches their own children how to lie to them. YOU cannot have it both ways.

What if the girl was abused? Typical liberal reaction, blame the victim and invent hypothetical questions to smear them. What if she was not being abused?

What if she picked up an infection during the procedure, or she was given medication that caused a reaction. Can you imagine your daughter, at 15 years old, bleeding from her privates, and then you find out she's been taking medicine you were not aware of? Stuff like that happens. And I'm pretty sure if you were in a situation like that, the last thing you would want to hear is "maybe that girl was abused."
