ABC Ignores Obama’s Hypocritical Stance on Gay Marriage
On ABCnews.com’s blog Political Punch, Yunji de Nies reported on the first celebration of gay pride month held in the White House by President Obama.
“President Obama told the group he is committed to equality for their community,” she reported, continuing on to quote Obama himself: “‘This struggle continues today, for even as we face extraordinary challenges as a nation, we cannot and will not put aside issues of basic equality,’ he said, ‘We seek an America in which no one feels the pain of discrimination based on who you are or who you love.’” De Nies noted the gay community’s disappointment in a president they had hoped would actively promote their agenda: “Many gay and lesbians believe the President has been slow to act on major issues like the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, and the Defense of Marriage Act,” she wrote, neglecting to report on Obama’s personal belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman, or his administration’s recent defense of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). An article on advocate.com also neglected to admit Obama’s personal belief, but did quote Richard Socarides, a former LGBT advisor to President Bill Clinton, as saying, “No one ever questioned whether President Obama's heart was in the right place, but now we have the beginning of some action …” Obama has clearly forwarded the cause of the gay community with “his recently signed memorandum, guaranteeing benefits to same sex partners of federal workers,” and his support of a domestic partners law, de Nies wrote. And no doubt, he will continue to undermine traditional marriage. However, the media and the gay community often forget that the president’s own beliefs coincide with 57 percent of Americans who do not think gay marriage should be legal. So why is Obama straying from his own values and convictions, and those of the majority of Americans, to embrace this cause?

June 30, 2009 - 16:43 ET by 24enakAs for why Obama is straying from his own values and convictions, he is president of the United States. He, as president, should do what is right for the citizens of the United States.
If there is someday a Jewish president would you have a problem if he, because of his own religious values and convictions, banned the consumption of pork and made everything kosher.
As for the second part about those of the majority of Americans to embrace this cause. Did a majority of Americans support civil rights in the 1950s? Did a majority of Americans embrace slavery and segregation at one point?
What if Abe Lincoln decided not to go to war keep intact a more perfect union, to free slaves and grant them their pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness because the majority of Americans did not embrace the cause.
Straying?
July 1, 2009 - 09:22 ET by GalvanicThe fact is that President Obama isn't straying from his personal convictions and religious values. Candidate Obama was the one who strayed, or to put it more accurately, sailed under a false flag; like most politicians, he uttered what his poll-driven advisers scripted for him in order to secure the votes.
Now in office, the real Obama -- the one the MSM willingly ignored or excused -- is emerging. The real Obama is farther to the Left than the majority of Americans, as we are now understanding as his Administration pushes through radical policies that it doesn't want the public to fully comprehend. But polls indicate that the public is awakening to the reality.
As was earlier noted, he says one thing, does the opposite, and then maintains that he hasn't strayed from his promises.
And the MSM -- still waiting with anxious anticipation for their marriage to Obama to be consummated -- let's it all pass without scrutiny while we the public are getting f***ed.

What a silly ass and what a silly question. You are incapable of logical thinking..
Your previous statement------
"As for why Obama is straying from his own values and convictions, he is
president of the United States. He, as president, should do what is
right for the citizens of the United States"
--equally confusing and childish and, further, defeats the statement above it.
Finally--
"What if Abe Lincoln decided not to go to war keep intact a more perfect
union, to free slaves and grant them their pursuit of life, liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness because the majority of Americans did not
embrace the cause."
This further challenges your own argument above that Obama strays (lovely description) from his own views for the good of the country.
You tell us. Obviously, you have some insight that the rest of theUSA lacks.
Are you suggesting that Lincoln challenged the majority of Americans. Are you ignoring the conflicts that led up to the war ? Are you ignoring the Missouri Compromise and other issues that led up to the war??? Were you there and ran a poll to find the majority view??
And , finally, in your benighted view, what condition would America be in if there had been no Civil War???
In summary, you are hoist by your own petard....
No wonder Noel tires of you!!!
Who decides what is right for America.
July 1, 2009 - 09:29 ET by CobraMan"He, as president, should do what is right for the citizens of the United States."
Who decides what is "right" for the citizens of the United States? This my surprise you, but it's not the President who makes those determinations. Only the citizens themselves can make those determinations. That's what a Constitutional Republic involves, letting the citizens make their own decisions as to what is "right" and what is '"wrong." The President is the Administrator of our federal government, he is NOT the absolute authority. Those types of governments are called Dictatorships.
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
