Bozell Column: Pathetic Dan Savage

June is “Gay Pride Month,” which immediately begs two questions: Says who? and, How is it that we have become a nation of such compliant sheep that we accept this rubbish?

The Viacom corporation, on the other hand, thinks it’s the perfect opportunity for its MTV and gay Logo channels to announce they’re creating a second "It Gets Better" anti-bullying special starring their favorite gay bully, Dan Savage. On the cusp of this news, Savage denounced the gay group GOProud for endorsing Mitt Romney for president: "The GOP’s house faggots grab their ankles on this one."

This F-bomb has destroyed careers in Hollywood – see Isaiah Washington, the former star of "Grey’s Anatomy." But Savage just signed with Creative Artists Agency to line up his business offers. One wonders if the reporters who cover television will ever dare to ask the Viacom brass how they square Savage’s routine bullying bursts – whether into a microphone or into a keyboard – with the transparently false anti-bullying persona they’re promoting to make themselves look community-minded.

Hypocrisy doesn’t get more blatant than this. It’s coming not just from Viacom, but from all those diversity-loving, tolerance-dreaming press critics who ultimately really don’t mean a word of it.

Savage is "more mainstream than ever before," oozed a recent profile in the Chicago Tribune. In their article, we discover it is now "more mainstream" for Savage to proclaim that the nation’s most devout religious leaders are cheerleaders for teen suicides. "Every dead gay kid is a moral, rhetorical victory for them. They stand on a pile of dead gay kids."

The Tribune didn’t find this inaccurate or offensive. Referring to Savage’s fear that “It Gets Better” makes him look like a “milquetoast,” the Tribune declared, "If Dan Savage is milquetoast, then he is a particularly piquant version."

At a student journalism conference in early May, Savage caused a student walkout as he trashed the Bible as a "radical pro-slavery document." If it was wrong on slavery, "on the easiest moral question that humanity has ever faced...What are the odds that the Bible got something as complicated as human sexuality wrong? 100 percent," Savage said. He mocked the students who walked out in protest “It’s funny, as someone who is the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible, how pansy-assed some people react when you push back," Savage said.

In a new interview with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Savage repeated that "religious people need to learn to ignore what the Bible says about gay people, or seems to say, the same way they ignore what the Bible says about shellfish and slavery. We're not asking religious people to do anything they haven't already done, which is to let go of the parts of the Bible that discriminate. They've done it before with slavery and they can do it again with homosexuality."

Savage isn’t hiding his agenda: Hey hey, ho ho, the Holy Bible has got to go. Hollywood has made this view "more mainstream than ever,” and he knows it. This secular sex columnist doesn’t have any need to express civility toward his opponents. There is only the flamethrower and the grenades for this commando.

This line was also in his "more mainstream than ever" basket, equating marriage to rape: " We should start calling male-on-female rape ‘traditional’ rape. Because if all ‘traditional’ means is that it's between a man and woman, that's setting the bar pretty low."

This man not only hates Christians, he despises Christianity itself.

MTV just wrapped up its season of "Savage U," the show where Savage travels to college campuses doling out profane sex "education."For twelve episodes on twelve college campuses,  MTV posed Savage as the compassionate wise man as he says the most outrageous things. In the season finale at Texas Tech, Savage preached that contraceptives must be used to prevent "the world’s oldest and most disruptive sexually transmitted infection: pregnancy." He confessed his MTV sidekick Lauren Hutchinson doesn’t like that lingo because "she’s so sentimental that way about babies."

Savage is so unsentimental that he’s insulted his own adopted son D. J. as thuggish. In an adoring NPR interview last year with Terry Gross, he cracked, "If he didn’t have us for parents — he’s a little thuggy snowboarder-skateboarder dude — and I like to think that he’s blessed to have us as parents because you can see in him the capacity to be a bully." Thanks, “Dad.”

Earth to Viacom: You are ridiculous when you announce anti-bullying specials hosted by pathetic bullies like Dan Savage. It makes about as much sense as a special promoting vegetarianism hosted by Ronald McDonald.

Pride is a state of mind when you think that your life is worth something.  You get there by living a reasonably proud life.  Doesn't mean you have to be right all the time, but you have to learn from bad choices and do better.

It's people who have so little self esteem that they need for "Big Brother" to designate a special time for them to feel good about themselves and their choices.  Then all the rest of the world is supposed to keep telling them how "special" they are during that week.

I'll swear, it's like raising kids.  Only difference is, they're supposed to be adults who should have made choices a long time ago that they could take pride in every day, not just when the gummint says to.

Submitted by Andante on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 11:33am.

Why do politicians keep sucking up to less than 5% of the population? 95% of us could not care less about gays and their life-style as long as they keep 'it' behind closed doors.

Proof? See link below:

From The Atlantic (a liberal mag):
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/05/americans-have-no-id...

“Overall, "U.S. adults, on average, estimate that 25 percent of Americans are gay or lesbian," Gallup found. Only 4 percent of all those surveyed in 2011 and about 8 percent of those surveyed in 2002 correctly guessed that fewer than 5 percent of Americans identify as gay or lesbian.”

Obama has "evolved" (lol) to embrace a political loser. I hope he doesn't fire his campaign manager.

A whole month....?

Submitted by NeoKong on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 9:10am.

That's seems a little greedy.
All the Veterans have to share just one day as do all the former Presidents.
Even the the son of the Lord only gets one day.
Who gets a whole month?
How exactly does somebody go about getting their own month anyways...?
Is there a waiting list?
Do you have to fill out any paper work?
Is there a fee?

What about us?
Can we have our own month?
For some reason I like November.

How is it gay to be queer?

It's an "age" thing, malcum.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 11:09am.

I find that if homosexuals are under about 45-50 years old, they think of themselves as "gay."  If they are over that age, they say that they are "queer."

Hey, this is what they say, not me.  I was actually having a conversation with one of my neighbors who was telling me about going to a party the night before, and I asked who else was there. He said, "just a bunch of old queers. We didn't invite any of these gay younguns."

I guess the "younguns" have some "activities" that are too radical for the "old queers."

Besides, I don't know for sure if it's gay to be queer, or queer to be gay.  I guess that depends on your age, too?

Is this about Dan Savage or Gay Pride?

Submitted by vaboxrboy on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 10:57am.

The reason June is Gay Pride Month is because the Stonewall riots happened in June. Patrons of the Stonewall Bar in NYC were tired of being targeted and humiliated while just wanting to be patrons of a bar of like-minded individuals. Since then the events have been organized around that date.

Love the way you say veterans, presidents, etc, get one day. Well, here's a newsflash. Many of those people have been gay as well.

Pride was initially a way for us to be seen as real people that you know, love and work with.Of course as with any population there are some more flamboyant folks among the general population. Ever seen Mardi Gras or a biker rally? Yeah, same sorta thing. Most of us in real life are very under the radar. My husband and I live in the suburbs. He's an engineer and I'm a medical assistant. WHOA! So scandalous!

Dan Savage is no more a spokesman for his community that a grand wizard is for white Americans. Don't get it twisted. We have far more respect for Ellen or Neil Patrick Harris for just being funny and more like real people that you would be neighbors with.

We're moving forward which is a good thing for our country. People like Dan Savage are not good for any of us and we don't embrace him. It's easy to point at the loud mouth. Come spend a week with us and watch us debate what to have for supper, pay our bills and figure out what home projects we can afford and when and you'll see we're not so different. We don't even own anything leather other than belts and shoes. Oh yes, there is the sectional in the media room as well.

Cheers, Chuck

vaboxboy, I have read this

Submitted by Liberallies on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 11:23am.

vaboxboy,

I have read this same exact post in almost every single forum which deals with homosexuality and Dan Savage. You are a troll and more likely than not, a liar.

Whether you live in the suburbs, the city, work as an engineer, work as a medical assistant, cook or not cook, etc, etc...it doesn't make your homosexual sex acts normal, moral or good.

What you seem to miss, Vaboxboy, is that the media would not push Dan Savage, put him on television, etc. if he didn't bring in ratings!

Dan Savage IS representative of a very large part of the homosexual community. Hateful, digusting individuals who hate Christianity with a whole lot of passion. Individuals who want to do whatever they can to excuse their poor behavior, who are desperate to believe and have others believe that their abnormal homosexual life style is normal.

Dan Savage and his militant pro-homosexual supporters are doing everything they can to reach the mind of young children and indoctrinate them early in life forcing them to believe that homosexual sex is moral and normal.

In fact, this is what YOU are attempting to do by telling us your so called life in your post.

Dan Savage represents the homosexual community whether you like it or not. If he doesn't it, why is it that we do not hear the vast majority of homosexuals condemening him and his tactics? why? I know why and so do you.

Please stop reposting your silly, more likely than not lie of a post.

Whether you like it, don't like it, believe or do not believe it, acts of homosexual sex are immoral, period, end of story.

His post was well worded, and his goal commendable - he wants to be accepted for who he is, not what he is.

That is not only a fair request, it is one that each and every one of us should be able to understand.

Unfortunately, there are far too many instances where outbursts by militant, obnoxious, homosexual squeaky wheels like Dan Savage are not only not countered by the application of decent commentary by others in the Gay and lesbian community;  it would appear that rarely - if ever - are statements in opposition to the diatribes by Savage and his ilk even made, let alone publicized.

Shawn, I am very much

Submitted by Liberallies on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 9:16pm.

Shawn,

I am very much looking forward to The Dark Knight. However, I am not sure about The Amazing Spiderman. I think it was way, WAY too soon to reboot the Spiderman series. More than Spiderman, I can't wait until next summer when Superman is finally rebooted.

Have you seen the latest Ghostrider movie? What a pathetic, worthless piece of terrible movie by Marvel and Hollywood! The first one was ok, but the second one is terrible. Worst than any B movie I have ever, ever seen!

As for vaxorboy, he tends to post, almost verbatum, the same thing on homosexual forums dealing with Dan Savage. To me, that is a troll.

As for his whole thing that he is normal and so is his partner. That he goes about his business in suburbia America never bothering anyone, I would believe it if it wasn't for his attack on NBers in another post dealing with Marvel Comics pushing homosexuality.

As much as vaxorboy and other homosexuals want to paint their homosexual lifestyle as normal and equal to that of heterosexuals...it is not. They lead abnormal sexual lifes. If he truly doesn't bother anyone, great. However, i would love to see vaxorboy and other homosexuals who claim that Dan Savage does not represent them to publicly state so. To go on television, on newspapers, in Left wing blogs and say so.

The fact is that Dan Savage IS representative of a very large group in the homosexual community. If anyone would are go after Dan Savage I can guarantee you he would be labeled either a traitor or a homophobe.

anyway, nice to see you around. I also haven't spent a lot of time on NB as in the past. My summer has been quite busy this year which is a great thing.

Submitted by ohio granny on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 11:44am.

If it is really true that someone is born either gay or lesbian, does it also not also follow that you do not have to practice the gay lifestyle. There are a lot of hetrosexuals that practice celibacy.

Humans crave all kinds of things they do not engage in. Contrary to what the gay lobby try to tell us living the gay lifestyle is NOT normal. Call me what you wnat, I don't really care. The practice of living the gay lifestyle is ABNORMAL.

The Bible calls it an abomination. Now why do you think that is?

Let him speak. The more he does the greater clarity we get on just how morally depraved our society is becoming. Instead of live and let live the homosexual community now seeks to force it's agenda, normalization of their lifestyle choice, on the majority. Which, no matter how you spin it, goes against natural law. Unfortunately our children, the future, are the intended targets (see normalization). But the
majority is waking up to
this hypocritical intolerance

Let them have their month of "pride" because...

Submitted by m4ster chief on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 7:15pm.

Because the price they are going to pay for it and their lifestyle is eternity in hell, according to God's Word in the Holy Bible.   They can revise it, condense it, paraphrase it, delete words or entire sections, add words or entire sections; they can change definitions of words or phrases to suit their own agendas ...but God's Word stands firm.  This God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth...the Father God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel.  His Word does not change, and it will never pass away.

But consider the word eternity.  Think about it...time without end.  Actually, the word "time" loses its meaning, its relevance, because the very word "time" suggests a beginning, perhaps an end.  Think about eternity this way:  A wee bird, standing on a miles-long, white-sand beach in Florida, grasps a single grain of sand in its beak, and flies out to the Grand Canyon.  When he's over the deepest part of the canyon, he drops the sand grain in, and then flies back to the beach.  He does this once a month.   When the Grand Canyon becomes completely full of white sand, and the ground is now perfectly level...eternity has not even begun for those in hell.

Yes, they are going to pay a steep price for their month of riotous fun.

The bigger question is, while they are paying the price of their folly, .where will YOU be?
