Television Critics Love Rachel Maddow, Cite Her ‘Outstanding Achievement in News and Information’

Last week, for the third year in a row, the Television Critics Association – which “represents more than 200 journalists writing about television for print and online outlets in the United States and Canada” – nominated MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for their annual award for “Outstanding Achievement in News and Information.”

The left-wing host is the only consistent nominee in the category over the past three years -- though she has yet to win. CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS hosts and programs have earned nominations over the years, but no one at the Fox News Channel has ever been nominated per the association’s press releases posted back to 2002.

Another favorite of liberals, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, which won in 2004, has been nominated in two of the past three years. PBS’s Frontline and CBS’s 60 Minutes are perennial nominees.

The 2012 “Outstanding Achievement in News and Information” nominees:

Anderson Cooper 360 (CNN)
The Daily Show (Comedy Central)
Frontline (PBS)
60 Minutes (CBS)
The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC)

For 2011:

If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise (HBO)
Restrepo (National Geographic Channel)
60 Minutes (CBS)
The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC)
30 for 30 (ESPN)

For 2010:

30 for 30 (ESPN)
America: The Story of Us (History Channel)
Life (Discovery Channel)
The Daily Show (Comedy Central)
The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC)

The winners, dominated by PBS’s Frontline, over the past ten years:

2001-02 Frontline (PBS)
2002-03 Frontline (PBS)
2003-04 The Daily Show (Comedy Central)
2004-05 Frontline (PBS)
2005-06 Frontline (PBS)
2006-07 Planet Earth (Discovery)
2007-08 The War: A Film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick (PBS)
2008-09 The Alzheimer’s Project (HBO)
2009-10 Life (Discovery)
2010-11 Restrepo (National Geographic Channel)

sad!! Are the judges from the white house? Noticed that puke letterman is up for an award as is anderson cooper. No mention of American Idol which is weird when they get millions calling in to vote. Oh forgot, that show is on Fox. OReilly has 10 times the audience of madcow so who is fixing this awards fiasco? What a joke

It is funny because whenever a comrade is having some PR trouble the establishment will initially circle the wagons in an attempt to boost their status, but like the children that they are the wagons will wander off once the collective gets bored with them. I thought it was funny when the media gave Cindi Sheehan the boot.

If the Daily Show is in the News and Information category, shouldn't Maddow be in the Comedy category?

Agreed

Submitted by Galvanic on Mon, 06/11/2012 - 9:08am.

How serious can a "news and information" award be if one of the nominees is a show on Comedy Central? Why not the Ellen Show and Good Morning America, too?

My guess is that Maddow's show is the LGBT pick to show how open-minded the awards are.

A word about these 'Awards.'

Submitted by ChrisNH on Mon, 06/11/2012 - 6:59am.

Leftist media people are among the lowest forms of life walking the planet today. They know it; we know it. To help maintain a modicum of esteem among the corps, they 'create' awards that are essentially Leftists backslapping other Leftists. In other words, the mantra is: "No one appreciates us, so we'll appreciate ourselves."

This is a joke

Submitted by cristo on Mon, 06/11/2012 - 8:27am.

It's as bad as Hollywood stroking their own every year with the Academy Awards - you know, actors and directors telling viewers who the best actors and directors are. Can't even count the number of times I've seen an old 2-star movie that didn't get a very good review and it turns out to be a pretty good job. TV critics - "journalists" who are "reporting" on TV news are no doubt pretty damn biased. What also seems to be consistent is that their reporting - and thus the awards - is biased. Each winner over the years listed is a liberal outlet, and FOX is not on the list once, despite the fact that FOX viewership blows away the top five alternative shows EACH NIGHT! FOX can be pretty bad at times (the daily morning clowns are a joke) but FOX reporting and CNN reporting are pretty close to the same thing. The Prison Channel, on the other hand, does not report, it simply delivers a left biased opinion that's so consistent that one need not longer watch it to know what opinion they will give.

This group is so heavy with socialists and "lugbut" activists that it should have to apply for a 501(c) designation.

Rachel Maddow Falls For, Then Retracts, A Gary Johnson-Related Hoax

So, is Rachel Maddow just a jerk, is she a liar, or is she ignorant? Hard to say, but let me share a little perspective.

http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2011/04/14/toys-in-the-attic-strikes-again/
-----------

Maddow is so bright, why she has the privilege of making up her pwn facts, and does so often. She's the smartest lying left wing hack journalist out there, You go fanboy and rifle through her underwear drawer....

She's still a hyper partisan liar and an open hater of all things right of Olberdork... her former mentor and fellow left wing whackjob. Her audience is nothing compared to FOX, but you go on touching yourself when you pine over her,.. but you do know,.. she ain't into guys... right?

Like the est at MSNBC, she's a joke.

Chuck, Rage bats 0% despite her fine PC academic credentials.

Submitted by drsamherman on Mon, 06/11/2012 - 5:59pm.

She has a doctorate in political science but she doesn't know the hierarchy of US law? Example - her whining about Michigan taking over municipalities that are in financial distress. Every state has a law like this on the books so it can step in and clean up messes created by local politicians. She didn't know that cities are political subdivisions of states and exist primarily at their largesse? That's Civics 101, boxboy.

She has all of this supposed knowledge about social science research techniques but constantly falls prey to hoaxes? Either she doesn't bother reviewing the copy before she goes to air or she is just plain overreliant on a rather inept research staff. She is at fault either way.

Sorry, but I can say professionally as a neurologist/psychiatrist that I do not find Rachel's intelligence to be much greater than a four year old. At least the four year old can legitimately claim ignorance by virtue of no life experience or formal education. Rachel, on the other hand, had a liberally stellar and politically correct education that seems to have done zero to help her understand the basic facts of American government, nor the maturity to recognize an obvious con because she keeps falling for them.
