Catching up with Newsweek's Howard Fineman on Wednesday's Countdown, he came across as a parody of an in-the-tank for Barack Obama journalist as he gauzily proclaimed: “Obama's changing everything as he moves. His victory speech last night in Grant Park...was so memorable on so many levels.” Asked by host Keith Olbermann to predict “an overarching theme” for Obama's appointments, such as “competency, bipartisanship, diversity, newness,” Fineman went beyond Olbermann and trumpeted:

Well, it's going to be all of those. But I think, if you had to pick one, it would be excellence. Barack Obama is a guy who appreciates excellence and focus. He's a guy who appreciates results.

Fineman, the magazine's senior Washington correspondent and columnist, as well as senior editor and deputy Washington Bureau Chief, soon hailed Obama's expected team: “It will be naturally diverse and naturally bipartisan.”

From the Wednesday, November 5 Countdown on MSNBC:

KEITH OLBERMANN: First transition in wartime in four years, plus a recession already in progress, might this transition like this campaign itself recast how this whole thing is done by necessity?

HOWARD FINEMAN: Yes, and it has already. Obama's changing everything as he moves. His victory speech last night in Grant Park which was so memorable on so many levels was also the first speech of his administration three months before it begins. He said, we're at the base of the mountain, not at the mountain top, and exuded a core of sort of sense of sober "let's roll up our sleeves" determination you're seeing reflective in the fact that he got this transition system running two or three months ago, another example of this guy's ability to plan and look ahead, look over the horizon. They've been working for months on this, Keith, just as they worked for months on the campaign itself before anybody noticed.

OLBERMANN: The names that we mentioned here, they are just some of many possibilities that have surfaced for the new administration. It's all over the place. But what will be, is there going to be an overarching theme in the appointments? We discussed this last night, competency, bipartisanship, diversity, newness, where are they going?

FINEMAN: Well, it's going to be all of those. But I think, if you had to pick one, it would be excellence. Barack Obama is a guy who appreciates excellence and focus. He's a guy who appreciates results. As we reported reportedly, doesn't like drama queens, doesn't like egomaniacs, doesn't like leakers -- which eliminates about three–quarters of the people in Washington for sure.

And that's what he's going to focus on. It will be naturally diverse and naturally bipartisan. He's not going to pick people to fit slots because they're Republican, because they're an African-American, because they're Hispanic. He believes that the country has changed enough and developed enough and is diverse enough, as his own election has now shown, that he can pick the best people all across the spectrum and will reflect the whole country. But it's going to be excellence first and experience.

"He's a guy who appreciates results"

By voting "PRESENT" ???? Give me a efn break!

"He believes that the country has changed enough and developed enough
and is diverse enough, as his own election has now shown, that he can
pick the best people all across the spectrum and will reflect the whole
country."

In other words.... "I am not required to adhere to no stinkin quotas"

"I need more cowbell!" SNL

He hasn't done anything

He hasn't done anything yet! All he has done is spend a large fortune and hired a butt-load of people to tell him what he should say to the citizens.

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Obamunists by their very pressence

Part the waves, recede the oceans, cool the planet and have the media pissing their pants.

Obamunsim does not fail, it just runs out of other people's money to give away. When the pies are all gone the troubles begin.

Where is the line for free gas, my tank is nearly empty.

Here is a preview of how it goes down. Pay attention to the last lines ...

Free pies, everybody shows up, long lines

Then the pies run short

The One shouts -- "get the baker"

-- baker drug to The One's feet

The One yells -- "baker, you are going to bake more pies" ... expressive shouts and cheers from the unwashed crowds at The One's feet --- yeah, right on yippee

Oh, oh -- work slowdown, pie shortage, why work when the pies are free says the baker

The One shouts -- "baker you are going to bake more pies or else" ... yeah, right on yippee

Oh oh -- 'or else' -- baker goes to the gulag, makes a few pies

Oh oh -- work slowdown, pie shortage

The one shouts -- "baker, you are going to bake more pies or else" ... yeah, right on yippee

Oh oh -- no pies, 'or else, bang!!!' dead baker

The One shouts -- "who wants to be the baker?" — silence.

Obamunism — It always ends the same, substitute pies for whatever you need. Obamunism doesn't fail, it just runs out of free pies to give away.

President-elect Mediocre "appreciates excellence"? Yeah, right.

Fineman:   Well, it's going to be all of those [qualities]. But I think, if you had to pick one, it would be excellence. Barack Obama is a guy who appreciates excellence and focus. He's a guy who appreciates results.

I wonder how he'll get that from his staff when he's never attained it in his own life.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Insert profanity-laced tirade here.Barf.

Same here.

Matthew's butt-boy never changes.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

Can't tell by the friends he's had over the years...

The media is still on an Obama high...it'll wear off when his Excellent tax/spend/spread the wealth program brings us double digit inflation, unemployment, and an overall Carter-like economy.  I hope I'm wrong, I hope he truly is excellent, just don't see it coming from a leftist ideology.  Excellence is hard to find in any Socialist-type economy, ever.

Blank tablet

The Obama Method is simple: "Do nothing, and allow everyone to project their own hopes on you." He's a blank tablet on which all of these commentators are projecting themselves. And if some of his Dreaming Followers each project different things onto his blank slate, Obama will simply ignore it, and wait for the followers to concoct an excuse for themselves.

"It will be naturally diverse and naturally bipartisan." To which we reply: "Rahm Emanuel? Bi-partisan?"

Obama didn't get two days into his president-elect period and he's already doing things that are directly contradicting his dreaming followers ... but they will take years to realize how they've been swindled. Wait for a couple days, and Fineman will have completely forgotten the bi-partisan angle.

 "It will be naturally

"It will be naturally diverse and naturally bipartisan." To which we reply: "Rahm Emanuel? Bi-partisan?"

I would have added

<insert hysterical laughter> LOL

Obama is changing things as he moves????

Oh look!!  The waters are parting in front of him, the flowers blooming behind him!!

Oh, please, Howard!  I had thought better of you.  Get a grip.

I can't take any more of this.  I need a break.

wonder if

fineman will think he brings excellence the first time a reporter questions him like joe the plumber and is investgated and banished from press conferences.

Oh, yeah, MB

" “Obama's changing everything as he moves. "

Even the molecules of the air around him adore him.

Sheesh.

Obama appreciates focus? Excellence? Then he'd better start.

Obama appreciates focus? Excellence? Then he'd better start..

Barack Obama is a guy who appreciates excellence and focus

..because his work experience sure is lacking focus. He's got a problem with deciding on an issue - votes "present" instead of making a decision. That suggests lack a of excellence and focus. Is he a decider, or not?

Obama never called a meeting of his senate committee. Looks like he earned the "slacker" label.

According to his wife, Michelle, as of 2004, "he hasn't done anything yet:"

YouTube - Obama Hasn't Done Anything Yet

And he doesn't seem to be able to focus enough on the excellence which is required of our public servants by simply showing up on time:

i am as god made me

it's quite simple what will happen. it's in the dna of these people. believe me i talked my mother into voting for nixon in 1972...obama can't be touched right now, simply he hasn't done anything yet..slowly, but surely just like the afterglow after great sex. the love affair with this man will fade.if you think that when things go south after about two years and he can't blame bush anymore. when all the fools that voted for him still haven't got there checks because there's nothing left to give..the msm aren't going to go down with the s.s. obama .there are two kinds of people in the democratic party..those that are too young to remember jimmy carter and those who chose to forget.
