Margaret Carlson: Romney 'Wanted the Boos' from NAACP, 'So Proud of Them'

By Brad Wilmouth | July 14, 2012 | 00:40

A  A

Appearing as a panel member on Friday's Inside Washington on PBS, Bloomberg View's Margaret Carlson - formerly of Time magazine - asserted that Mitt Rommey "wanted the boos" he received as he delivered his speech to the NAACP.

She went on to say the GOP presidential candidate is "taking those boos to his fund-raiser with Dick Cheney," and that "he's so proud of them."

(Video can be found here.)

Host Gordon Peteron brought up the subject and posed to her: "When Obama is talking to the NAACP and he says he's going to get rid of Obamacare, he's not really talking to the NAACP, is he, Margaret?"

Carlson responded:

No, Romney aides would have you believe this is his "sister Souljah moment," so he's, you know, he's, he's he's saying this and, however, he's, he's not speaking to the group in the room.

He wanted the boos. He's taking those boos to his fund-raiser with Dick Cheney in Wyoming. He put the boos in the overhead bin, carrying them out there. He's so proud of them.

No one would even know about the 10 seconds of boos if the left-wing media hadn't put it on a continuos loop!!! I had a lot of the speech on while I was getting ready for work and all I heard was applause after applause.

Exactly, and a standing ovation at the end, as well. She must have fallen asleep at the end of the speech, or her liberal filter would not let her hear the applause.

Jeez - who left the barn door open today??? You've got Ms. Ed flapping her gums about some made-up booing episode here, and Ms. Greenhouse Gas whinnying about the 'radical' members of the Supreme Court!!!

I thought these sway-backed ol' gray mares were put into the back-40 a long time ago.....................and they were pretty useless when they were 'functional' anyway.

If they honestly think Mitt was trolling for boo's

Submitted by Boudin on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 1:49am.

Then why dont they show the Standing O at the end? I mean they are out to ruin him, been obvious for some time now.

Fact is, the media jumped the Shark, again. Romney has proven courage, gave the same rhetoric to them, that he gives everyone. And they liked him. These leftist drones dont care, wont care, no matter what.

Our media is way more pathetic then Obama, Pelousy or Reid put together. The media enabled them. We need to take it back from this lazy, corrupt entity.

Actually the 'art' of insulting another person is not as creative as it used to be.
Check out some of the political debates in the 1800's.
Now those people could rip someone to tiny pieces without being vulgar.
A true art form.

More political commentary by

Submitted by Tom Paine on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 7:09am.

More political commentary by Marcie from Peanuts. So Romney addresses the members NAACP like adults instead of pandering to them. He did not change his style of speaking like Algore adopting the faux black preacher cadence or Hillary using a black dialect. Romney addressed them as Americans instead of black Americans and gave a truthful assessment. The audience reacted childishly and booed him on the Obamacare comment and the media ate it up. Notice they did not cover the applause he got for saying he supported traditional marriage or the standing ovation he received at the end. In fact I think it was the Media who wanted the boos so they could harp on it endlessly. Since Obama will get 95% of the balck vote, Romney could have decided to skip the event (Like Obama did) but he came. The more the media dwell on this the better it makes Romney look and the smaller his detractors appear.

Could it be

Submitted by StarAZ on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 3:04pm.

To me, Romney talked to that group one adult to another...not one faux-god to potential nanny state recipients. I could be wrong. I also could be wrong that Ben Jealous on MTP today suggested that Romney could have been more specific on including minority small business in the Dream and creating jobs--but these to me were perfectly legitimate observations from someone who sounded like he would have listened to those comments.

Submitted by ant on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 8:30am.

Oh, and I suppose 'Marci' came to this conclusion by virtue of her own personal insight. Forget the fact that this talking point has already been repeated by Soledad, Pelosi, Sharpton, and dozens of others. 'Journolist' much? Listen to Rush on Monday.  I fully expect him to have  montage of all the comments from Democrats containing the words "wanted the boos" or "intended to be booed."

The template was set the minute Nancy Pelosi said it at 8 AM.

Carlson is just the latest addition to the Greek chorus.

Let's Review...

Submitted by bigdaddy on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 11:37am.

...Or as Baracko is so fond of saying...."Let me be clear on this"....

If Mittens had politely refused the invitation to speak before the "unbiased" NAABP, they would have slammed him as a "racist" and "out of touch" GOP politician.

So...

Mittens accepts the invitation to speak before the "unbiased" NAABP and he gives the same consistant speech that he gives everywhere because he realizes he will be the President of ALL Americans, not just the membership of the NAABP, and he gets slammed as a "racist" and "out of touch" GOP politician.

Damned if you do...etc.

Meanwhile...

Baracko knows that the NAABP is in the hip pocket of his mommy jeans, so he sends his boy "Joey Plugs" to pander to the gang and they are good with that.

NAACP must have a clause in their charter stating "All communication from white people, directed toward the NAACP or its representatives, shall be delivered with a strong emphasis on the Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations.

Romney changed nothing of his [lift all boats] message, thereby insulting the NAACP which depends heavily upon the largesse of its liberal white sponsors in the Democrat Party.
