NBC's Guthrie Hits Obama Admin from Right on Withdrawing from Afghanistan

By Brad Wilmouth | May 28, 2012 | 15:02

A  A

When Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, appeared as a guest on Monday's Today show on NBC for the Memorial Day occasion, substitute co-anchor Savannah Guthrie raised concerns from the right about whether announcing the timeline of a troop withdrawal from Afghanistan might benefit Taliban insurgents tactically. Guthrie:

Let's start in Afghanistan. I'm sure you're well aware of the political debate that goes on in this issue. The NATO allies just met in Chicago talking about wrapping up the combat mission by 2013. Let me put it to you plainly: Is it or is it not a tactical advantage for the enemy in Afghanistan to know when the U.S. will wrap up its combat mission.

I feel sorry for the Joint Chiefs...

Submitted by c5then on Mon, 05/28/2012 - 3:12pm.

They get to look like imbeciles because we have a clueless idiot for a Commander-in-Chief.

This is way way too late to be bringing this issue up for the MSM. This should have been the discussion that was covered a year or more ago when it was actually up for debate and the date had not yet been set. Once again, the MSM show they are incapable of actually doing their jobs.

They ARE imbeciles - and worse

Submitted by NC Boy on Mon, 05/28/2012 - 7:07pm.

They are in those positions because they care more about career advancement than the armed forces of the United States of America. They deserve only contempt from the troops, and the American people. They have mine.

The left showed what they really think

Submitted by cocodrie on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 9:42am.

The left showed what they really think about true soldiers when they shafted Gen. Douglas McArthur.
Thankyou Hairyassed Truman for North Korea, Vietman and most of the trouble in the far east.

Wouldn't go THAT far

Submitted by NC Boy on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 9:58am.

McArthur may have been a true "pure" soldier, but wasn't a good "American" soldier. When our military starts making our foreign policy, we will be in BIG trouble.

PS - I'm not saying that the current Joint Chiefs should resist the Commander-in-Chief. They should simply resign, and nobody should be willing to replace them.

Truman did the same thing

Submitted by cocodrie on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 10:08am.

Truman did the same thing in Korea that LBJ did in Vietnam. He traded victory for politics and compromise at the cost of American lives.

My guess is

Submitted by NC Boy on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 11:48am.

My guess is that you and I aren't going to be able to agree on what "victory" constituted during the Cold War. I'm happy to discuss if you like.

Moron in Chief

I'm sure that idiot Obama would have also told the Germans exactly where we planned to land in Europe...and when.
