CBS Highlights Increase in Female Gun Enthusiasts
On Tuesday's The Early Show, CBS's Katrina Zish filed a full report on the trend toward more women becoming gun enthusiasts.
Last October, The Early Show notably ran a report documenting public opposition to gun control.
Co-anchor Chris Wragge and substitute co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis set up Tuesday's report: (Video below)
CHRIS WRAGGE: Well, the face of the American gun owner is changing. More women than ever are picking up rifles, shotguns and handguns, and target shooting is one of the fastest growing female sports.
REBECCA JARVIS: But looks can be deceiving. We're not talking "Dirty Harriet" here as Early Show contributor Katrina Zish found out.

It's because of the payroll

It's because of the payroll tax cut. Joe Biden told us tax cuts cause more rapes.
Buying guns for the same reasons
Submitted by ohio granny on Wed, 12/28/2011 - 10:50am.
Women buy guns for the same reasons men do. For self-protection and because they enjoy shooting, not so much hunting. Also because liberals and democrats want to ban all private ownership of guns. The more people who own guns the harder it will be for the government to confiscate them.
Liberals and democrats hate the second amendment and will continue to do everything in their power to destroy it. One of the first things totalitarian regimes do when they take power is to confiscate all guns owned by the citizens. As long as we still honor the right to own guns, that can never happen here. If private ownership of guns is ever overturned, we will then be in big trouble. That means that the more people who own guns the better and the harder it will be for the government to take them.

one of them. Picked up a .38 revolver and a .12 gauge Mossberg this year, and one of the reason's was spelled out in a picture behind the counter of the gun shop. It was a portrait of a smiling Odumbo, on a plaque with the inscription "Salesman of the Year". Said it all.

The Brady Campaign will not

The Brady Campaign will not admit to this. They are saying that all the FBI background request during the Christmas shopping season were gun collectors adding to their collections. Boy are they wrong like always.
I don't know if you watch Sons of Guns but Stefenie (?), Will Hayden's daughter, has been working on guns modified just for women. She designed a garter holster. Will was kind of against it but she has been doing very good with it. And the ladies at Gunsmoke, American Guns, are doing the same thing. They see a largely untapped market. Me I won't buy a gun with pink hand grips but that seems to be what they want.

about the whole "pink" thing. When I got mine I saw pink and purple and said "Really? I'm hoping not to have to ever shoot anyone, but if I have to use it, I want the attacker to at least see it, fear it, and recognize it, not laugh at it."
Look at it this way

You shouldn't have to worry about what the attacker thinks. He's coming to attack you, you have the right to shoot to kill. Doesn't matter if he dies laughing, he's gonna die.
Kinda like "don't go away mad, just go away" except in the reverse.
Just make sure you get the practice in to be able to hit the target right on target in the right place. Either a head shot or center of mass and double tap it. A pistol or any kind of gun is only as good as the person who wields it.

he who dies laughing, dies outta breath!
Best type of self defense shooting is Point Shooting. Granted there is a combination of the two as listed below.

and remember.... a gun in hand is worth more than 2 cops on the phone.

belong to a range and go once a week on "ladies day". My husband is out of town a lot, and I have some wonderful "white clutter" living next door, if you know what I mean. Made sure to play show and tell with my Mossberg outside the day I got it. They don't give me much trouble. That baby is one sinister looking and sounding instrument, and fun to shoot as well.

If you don't watch Sons of Guns and American Guns you need to start. The ladies on there can shoot. They can shoot about anything from a palm gun to a Browning machine gun. I wouldn't want them to draw down on me.
Sons of Guns comes on tonight at 10 on Discovery. American Guns comes on at Mondays at 10 on Discovery. They may have shown all the news shows for the season
Appleseed Project
Submitted by FALalleujah on Wed, 12/28/2011 - 12:36pm.
If you haven't checked out the the Appleseed project I highly recommend it. Appleseed is a family friendly, weekend long rifle marksmanship/ American heritage course for all levels of shooters and it is essentially free for women, anyone under 21 and active military and LEO. The history aspect is equally awesome and revolves around April the 19th, 1775. Not many firearms training classes include history but it is vitally important. Appleseed is a 501.c3 non profit and all volunteer so they won't preach modern politics or tell anyone whom to vote for but they will challenge your "inner American" to not take for granted our hard earned rights. All of the weekend can be done with a .22 rifle unless you're lucky enough to attend one that has a longer range available ! As an instructor for the program I have seen many women attend and have a great time....and guys..they usually make better shooters right off the bat ...sorry for the ego blow !

Protect yourselves, ladies. Bravo to the shooters. Self empowerment is the name of the game. When concealed carry goes up, crime goes down. Great to see the lady instructor schooling the latest media airhead. Defend yourselves, ladies! From the looks of the video, you sure couldn't depend on the giggling Mr. Wragge for help.
Hopefully, this video will get more ladies (And men) involved in shooting sports and self protection.
We live in dangerous times.

Every time I get some sheeple idiot trying to tell me that my gun will do me no good as the bad guys will have the drop on me, I agree! Then I tell them that I am not counting on MY gun saving me. It's that little old lady quietly sitting in the corner pulling out her Colt Python that's going to do it.

I got to show a liberal gun hating seattlite a MKII 22LR & shoot it.
Her snobbed up nose turned to estasy as she hit a plastic jug at 20 yds on about the 15th shot. Fortunately I grabbed the pistol before she could shoot anyone on the line as she jumped for joy.
women and guns are a natural

I am a firearms instructor. I teach mostly tactical pistol / smg / rifle to LE. As a side venture i do concealed carry course and womens defensive shooting courses.
I have found that by far the best students are the women and those that have never touched a weapon. I don't have to work through the attitudes and I don't have to unteach bad habits.
when i taught for the military I was involved in the training during the transition from the 1911 45 cal to the Berretta 9mm. Same thing applied - the slowest times on the pro-timers when you pushed them was those with a lot of time with the 45.
I wish every woman would get into shooting, whether for sport or defense - just something about a lady with a handgun that is crazy cool

Thank you Governor George Allen for making this a reality in Virginia.
