Margaret Carlson: Gingrich Plays ‘Skinhead Politics,’ Paul Ryan Would ‘Destroy Medicare as We Know It’
On Friday’s Political Capital show on Bloomberg News, as host Al Hunt turned the discussion to Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign, Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson attacked Republican Congressman Paul Ryan’s plan for Medicare reform as she voiced supposed agreement with Gingrich that "it is right-wing social engineering to destroy Medicare as we know it."
She then went on to suggest that Gingrich plays "skinhead politics."
Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Friday, May 20, Political Capital on Bloomberg News:
AL HUNT: Newt’s yesterday, Margaret.
MARGARET CARLSON: Well, yeah, I think he is, thanks to Republicans. They can’t usher him off the stage quick enough. He spoke the truth actually on Meet the Press. It is right-wing social engineering to destroy Medicare as we know it.
Newt is the colorful, pugilistic, somebody called him playing skinhead politics, he just exaggerates - everyone’s Neville Chamberlain, we are secular French society thanks to Obama. But he is not a disciplined candidate, and so now, Trump is gone, Gingrich is gone, I don’t know what we’re going to do for the next couple of weeks.

Medicare "as we know it" needs destroying

I agree that Ryan's plan will destroy Medicare "as we know it". The Medicare as we know it is insolvent and will disappear because the country cannot afford the 30 to 50 of trillion of debt that the current program will cost us if left in place through 2050. We need to understand some simple words in this world: WE CAN'T AFFORD IT. You have seen what our jobs and general economy look like with the horribly high Federal budget we have. We have NOT responded as an economy like we did in 1920 or in 1980; we have a 1930's economy because that model of our country and its recovery is the one that Barack Obama chose to emulate.
As a country, we need to halt the attitude that companies can best be regulated to make our economy productive. We have seen that it doesn't work; look at how well Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and others regulated the subprime loans. We need a free economy, a smaller Federal government, and a private industry response to issues ranging from energy to medical care.
The response to Ryan is another example of the Democrats and their handmaidens the media trying to scare Granny so she will vote against Republicans. Well, Granny, Ryan has said you are safe, but we cannot propagate ths model perpetually. Do you want your grandkids to have nothing, or are you going to vote smart this time?

Historian, we can only WISH that any plan the Republicans put forward destroys Medicare "as we know it." I am inclined to believe that even the Ryan plan won't so much as make a dent in our out of control spending.
When is comes to the overall budget debate, I am sick of the Republican response of, "No, no, we're not cutting anything!" My question is always, "Well why aren't you?" Pussies.

Margaret Carlson is one of the dimwitted, hysterical, militant leftist/feminist dingbats (E.J. Dionne, Maureen Dowd and three leftists writing on the front page of the New York Times-Democrat were the others) who recently made the ludicrous, bogus, thoroughly unsubstantiated allegation that a career community organizer in the White House, who palled around with a terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, actually determined the number of personnel and aircraft necessary to complete the bin Laden mission and also devised the contingency plan involving the number of aircraft!
Who knew that Obama, Margaret Carlson, E.J. Dionne, Maureen Dowd and the leftist political activists who write for the front page of the New York Times-Democrat were all such military geniuses?

The new health care law has 29 percent cut in doctor’s payments and will cut $500 billion from Medicare.
Doctors across the country are turning away new Medicare patients.
The commercial showing grandma being pushed over a cliff doesn't show she lands in a mass grave called Obamacare with many of her peers already down there.
These fools are concentrating on a "plan" when seniors react to what is their reality such as no cost of living increase, high food & fuel prices, their family's out of work and losing their homes, their medical care options being limited by Obamacare.
where's Rubio when you need him.

The answer, for Ms. Carlson is that Medicare, as we know it, is not going to around much longer. Our choice is when to fix it, not if we're going to fix it. If we fix it now, it will be much cheaper and easier than if we fix it later. People like Carlson need to be put on the spot about this stuff.

So what are Maggie's solutions for the financial/economic problems we face caused by the corruption and ineptitude of the Democratic Party and the willing "let's go along to get along" spineless Repubs? Like the rest of the political/media talking heads, she has none. Just demagogery, talking points, and condescension from on high as if these problems will not eventually have them also joining the misery index graph.
BTW, Newt, thanks for giving the libtards a counter-productive talking point with which to attack real, necessary 'change'. You jackass!

Ms. Carlson (aka Thelma from Scooby Doo) is in denial that bankruptcy will destroy Medicare. Ryan's plan allows for the program to continue. Yes Medicare does need to be reformed and restructured, but only because its current structure is nothing more than a non-sustaining PONZI SCHEME!
