CBS Notes Terrorists Charged in Plot to Bomb NYC Synagogue

Thursday’s CBS Evening News gave attention to the arrest of two Muslim radicals who were arrested and charged in New York City with planning to bomb a synagogue. CBS anchor Katie Couric informed viewers that one of the defendants was arrested the day before for trying to purchase weapons from an undercover officer, and had complained about the treatment of Muslims.

Couric read:

Here in New York, police say they broke up a home-grown terror plot. Two men were charged today with planning to blow up a synagogue. Police say the accused were heard on tape complaining that the world treats Muslims, quote, "like dogs." One was arrested yesterday just after he allegedly bought guns and a fake hand grenade from an undercover officer. Neither suspect was believed to have any ties to al-Qaeda.
