ABC's Hasselbeck Suggests GOP Doomed to Lose In 2012, Should 'Consider Saving Their Cash' for 2016
On Thursday's The View on ABC, during a discussion of potential Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's challenge in having to talk about his history of failed marriages during a campaign, right-leaning co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck chimed in with a blatantly pessimstic view of Republican chances for winning the 2012 election. Hasselbeck, who has a history of endorsing GOP presidential candidates, quipped that "it could be over for the entire Republican Party" in the next election, and suggested they "consider saving their cash" for next time instead. Hasselbeck:
I'd also make the argument that it might, it could be over for the entire Republican Party in this election. I think maybe they should consider saving their cash and wait until 2016, if I may so boldly put that out there.

She's a poor spokesperson for the conservative movement. She couldn't explain how to make a grilled cheese sandwich effectively, much less articulate why the GOP is doomed in 2012. That's why they put her on the show - she's a harmless lightweight that can generally be bullied and talked over (with rare exceptions).Hate to correct you

Great, we're just a few months removed from a massive Republican victory in the mid-term election and Hasselbeck is spouting about how there is no way for Republicans to win in 2012. There is so much that can happen between now and November of next year that it is absurd to predict how the election will turn out. If gas prices drive the economy further into the ground, all bets are off for Obama. Other than FDR, no president has been reelected with an unemployment rate > 8%. If Republicans give up on 2012 almost two years early, why even bother with 2016? You may as well give up on that, too. By then, Democrats will be so entrenched with their agenda that the tipping point would have been long passed. The problem with Republicans is that they continue to let the other side define them and set the agenda. Even after Novembers victories, many conservatives act like they lost. It is refreshing to see the stands taken in Wisconsin and elsewhere. I wish there was more of it in Washington, D.C.Uhm, another 4 years of

I hope that President Obama does NOT get re-elected. But look at how many people who voted in '08 did not vote in '10. Also, look at the number of people that voted for him in '08 that had no clue what or for whom they were voting. He has the MSM on his side and a clueless electorate (thats powerful). That is why we need to nominate a strong candidate (I think any Republican would be better then him) and press HARD to keep him from being re-elected. Don't take him lightly nor think that '10 equals a victory in '12. Stay alert and on our toes and we CAN bring this country back to sanity. Thanks for taking the time to read. Given the fact that BO is a known quantity, albeit a poor president, and people like continuity I think she makes a good point. So far there has been no GOP star rising on the sort term horizon that will beat an incumbent president. Let's concentrate on the Senate and House and put our might where it will do the most good, holding the purse strings. 2016 isn't that far away.Once gas goes to $5 a gallon

Don't you think it's just a little early to start the campaign to convince Repubicans/Conservatives that their candidate(s) doesn't stand a chance in 2012? Obviously they are really scared of Odumbo self-imploding and losing the office for them... and they are correct to be scared. Right now, however, our concern is best placed on the Senate and House and holding our representatives feet to the fire, especially on defunding Obamacare. That hidden $105 billion is enough to fund Obamacare for quite some time. Here is Eric Kantor's Washington DC phone number--202-225-2815. Call him and urge him to keep his pledge to Laura Ingraham that he would work immediately to defund Obamacare. He can do this by adding the $105B that Steve King (R, Iowa) and Michelle Bachmann have identified as the initial hidden funding for Obamacare to the $61B in budget cuts. Do not let Boehner and Kantor off the hook! Call him!HASSELBECK IS RIGHT!

I despise everything Barack Obama he stands for. He is absolutely the most radical POTUS ever and is a doctrinaire ultra leftist. That said, the MSM loves him and he will easily be reelected. Can you imagine what the media would be saying if there was a Republican president with no energy policy and gas prices rising towards $4/gallon, 10% unemployment (higher if you consider the total picture), mailaise in foreign policy etc etc. There would be nightly news broadcasts about the misery index, interviews with people who had been seaching for work for a couple of years with no results, constant references to an administration that had no direction or leadership. But guess what....with BO, it isnt happening! Instead, we read that the economy is recovering. Stunning rises in gasoline prices are no big deal. Our lack of any coherent policy in the crumbling Middle East is really brilliance on the part of Obama. The NYT and other liberal news outlets impugne Fox News and conservative talk radio but thats a joke. When you combine all the major media news outlets, major city newspapers, AP, Reuters, and others that reach infinitely larger audiences on a daily basis.....the voices on the right are truly miniscule. The MSM parrots on a daily basis, much of what comes out of the Whitehouse talking points machine as news. That alone is a huge factor in Obama's reelection advantage. Combine that with a lackluster group of Republican candidates and Obama's reelection is a done deal. Gingrich has enough baggage to fill an oversized garbage truck. Huckabee is anything but inspiring. Romney would be a great President but his healthcare ties in Mass. and lack of conservative purity when viewed by the more conservative elements of the party will doom him. Palin has been effectively destroyed by the media. Who else is there? No one of note. Sad to say..tragically....BO will cruise to victory in 2012.Conservative?

Hasselbeck is nothing more than a RINO, therefore irrelevant. But the REAL issue is that we should not even be trying to figure out who the GOP nominee will be at this time. Keep in mind the press are going to do their DAMNEDEST to find and promote the hell out of the biggest non-Tea Party candidate they can find, and then the media will frame the argument as "Republicans need to put out moderate if they have a chance to win" bullpuckey as they did with McCain.
Hasselbeck is doing nothing more than provided the media with a "legitimate right-wing source reading the tea-keaves." Hasselbeck is NOT a conservative nor a libertarian; hence, what she says is irrelevant in the effective cause of our movement.

I still do not think B.O. is going to get the support from Independents that he received in 2008. It was their votes that carried him to victory, and he has done enough to turn many of them off. It is still early, however, and anything can happen; it's just premature to insist someone who has performed so awfully cannot be beaten. B.O. is one of the worst presidents in modern history, period. Many people recognize this now, which is why the mid-term elections were so lopsided. His approval ratings are overstated. Granted, the country still has a host of ignorant fools who believe whatever they are spoon-fed by the media; I do not necessarily buy the idea that there are sufficient numbers of them to guarantee Obama another term. And this is why Hasselbeck is such a valued political analyst...

Seriously though, I have no idea if the Repubs will beat Obama in '12. I hope and pray that they do, because the idea of another 4 years of "The Clueless One" is more than I can bear. That said, most of the currently higher polling Repubs don't fill me with excitement and inspiration. Some of the lesser known people who have either announced or who are seriously thinking of running are far more interesting to me than the so-called "big name" potential candidates are. I'm just afraid that the Repubs will end up nominating someone who will be yet another McCain, and this election will be a choice between Obama and the "anybody but Obama" candidate...
Not exactly a recipe for success...We'll see.

In Elisabeth’s case she has been put on that show as token opposition that can be easily rolled by the other libs on the panel whenever she tries to make a point. If even the most average conservative couldn't win against the most spendthirft leftwing government in our history, in 2012, then this country is lost. I happen to think that a tsunami is going to happen again in 2012 and sweep out another dozen or more democraps in the Senate, to the unemployment line. To me what I see even on ABC News and other liberal sites the all the money being dumped into the re-election of Obama is going for nothing. Even my dad, a dyed in the wool FDR liberal saw through the shinola in WI and supported the take down of the public unions. We are comming to a point that all the ads, money, crying liberal MSM rants are going to nothing. Anybody with the least brain knows this country is in trouble. They also know Obama lied to everybody he talked to during his election and the tea-party is growing every day. The only real question is which republican will be elected. To me the only person that will really help this country is Ron Paul. Herman Cain is just another Federal Reserve puppet. The biggest problem in this country by far is the Federal Reserve. Herman Cain will do nothing to stop it.
