Olbermann Mocks Bachmann Over U.S. Constitution, Wanting to Dine with Jesus, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin
On Monday’s Countdown show, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann mocked Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, tagging her as "Worst Person in the World," for her recent declaration in an interview with World Net Daily that she would like to dine with Jesus Christ, Ann Coulter and a number of other historical and public figures. In addition to cracking that Coulter would accuse Jesus of being gay and that conservative talk radio host Mark Levin would "run out on the check," the MSNBC host concluded that Jesus would try to stop Bachmann and presumably other conservatives from "mak[ing] the House of Representatives a house of morons."
Olbermann: "Coulter would question Jesus’s sexuality. Levin would run out on the check. And Jesus would shout, "Get these out of here. Do not make the House of Representatives a house of morons," and then turn over the table. You know, like in the Real Housewives of New Jersey."
The Countdown host went on to mock the conservative concept of adhering to the original intent of the Constitution as meaning slavery would be legal and that women would not have the right to vote. Olbermann:
The original size would presumably be after the first Senate convened in 1789. That would mean only 26 Senators, only 69 Congressmen, and there are only 13 states and thus no representatives from Minnesota, and the government only attends to the needs of what the population of the country was back then: four million. Original constitutional limitations would mean there’s no Bill of Rights, slavery is legal, and women can’t vote. Michele "do you ever get the feeling she should be going not to Congress, but to a sixth grade American history class" Bachmann, today's "Worst Person in the World."
Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Monday, October 18, Countdown show on MSNBC:
KEITH OLBERMANN: But our winner, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. A double header from an interview with "paranoia.com," better known as World Net Daily. Question, "If you could sit down to dinner with any eight people who ever lived and they could all for this one occasion speak English, who would be on your guest list?"
Answer: (IMITATING BACHMANN’S VOICE) "Jesus, George Washington, Adam – the first man – the Apostle Paul, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ann Coulter, Ronald Reagan and Mark Levin. It would be a very interesting combination."
(BACK TO NORMAL VOICE) Yes, Reagan would turn back into a Democrat. Washington would read her his farewell address warning against forming political parties. Adam would reconsider celibacy. Paul would announce he’d gone blind again. Bach would play the harpsichord loud enough to drown out her voice. Coulter would question Jesus’s sexuality. Levin would run out on the check. And Jesus would shout, "Get these out of here. Do not make the House of Representatives a house of morons," and then turn over the table. You know, like in the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Part two, World Net Daily also asked, question, "If, with the snap of your fingers, you could you change anything about America, what would it be?"
Answer: (IMITATING BACHMANN’S VOICE) "Reduce the federal government to its original size and constitutional limitations and to restore the Ninth and Tenth Amendments."
(BACK TO NORMAL VOICE): The original size would presumably be after the first Senate convened in 1789. Michele, do you ever get the feeling she should be going not to Congress, but to a sixth grade American history class Bachmann, today's "Worst Person in the World."

I'm picking my lower jaw off the floor to say that I think Chris Matthews (of all people!!!) deserves a big round of applause for an interview I saw parts of just now with that Dem Senate candidate Conway (or whatever) in Kentucky. He really really decimated him, in front of college students all waving Conway signs at that. His Rand Paul religion attack ad apparently is back-firing big and it was pure joy to see Matthews in mad-dog mode on a big liberal. That candidate reminds me so much of John Edwards, BTW.
On Moaning Joe, the panel including Matthews says this guy is over in Kentucky. Wonder if Matthews was actually standing on principle or just joining in kicking the man when he's down (like everyone did with R. Sanchez of CNN)
I'm sure this guy is going to run to Olbermann, Special Ed, and Maddow - where his wounds will be lovingly licked. He's not showing up with Tingles again that's for sure.

Submitted by c5then on Tue, 10/19/2010 - 7:35am.
Olberman is simply executing the Progressive strategy to demonize any conservative and to put up false strawmen in all his rabid criticisms to make it seem as if all conservatives are lunatics (like the progressives really are). They are doing this because they think that the democratic base is stupid and unable to reason things out on their own. The progressives have tried to create this situation by destroying the public schools in order to create a large mass of idiots that they can control.
Anyone who supports strict Constitutional interpretation of course means including all the amendments too. I know no individual who would believe that anyone would even think that re-instituting slavery was a good idea or even an idea at all.
Olberman has gone so far over the line here of defamation and blasphemy that even I am offended. He needs to be fired and probably sued for liable, slander and defamation.

The libtards always use this argument against strict interpretation of the Constitution, remember Whoopie on the View?
They ignore the Amendments because they are threatened by the amendment process. If their dumbtard sheeple find out that there's actually a prescribed way to change the Constitution, they would not go along with every dictate of the liberal court "interpretations."
Of course, amending the Constitution is more difficult than appointing a judge or passing a law. Since they wouldn't be able to change it so easily, they are threatened, and therefore, they have to hide how slavery really ended, how women got the vote, by implying that it was "interpreted" law, so to speek.

Original intent
Submitted by KC Mulville on Tue, 10/19/2010 - 8:47am.
Olbermann's distortion of conservatism is on full display here. His argument is that original intent means that we want to go back to the laws of 1789. That's simply stupid.
Original intent comes from the most basic principle of our law: consent of the governed. That's what bestows authority on law. To discover how to interpret a law, you go back to what the lawmakers actually consented to. Like an ordinary contract, one of the parties is not allowed to re-interpret the terms based on his current needs or perspectives. The contract is what they both agreed to at the time. If they have both changed perspectives, they can make a new contract.
When a judge reinterprets law to fit current circumstances, he's basically imposing a new contract on the parties, taking for granted that the parties would have agreed to his new formulation. Well, no, the law doesn't allow anyone to assume agreement on the part of someone else.
Olbermann confuses the idea of original intent with the idiotic idea that conservatives want the original law. It's either ignorance or outright lying.
Excellent argument, KC

Original constitutional limitations mean there would be no Bill of Rights??? Why doesn't HE go to a 6th grade American History class (as though they teach that anymore) and get a clue?
The constitution was *not* ratified and wasn't going to BE ratified until the Bill of Rights was formulated and put onto it. Then and only then would they formalize and ratify it. You weren't going to have the Constitution without the first ten amendments, period. That *is* original.
