MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan: Obama 'Rather Screwed Up' for Writing Memoir Before Age 50

By Alex Fitzsimmons | August 08, 2011 | 17:34

Dylan Ratigan joined Andrea Mitchell Monday on the list of MSNBC anchors who appear to be losing faith in President Barack Obama's leadership.

Discussing the type of president required to lead the country in times of crisis, Ratigan remarked, "Wouldn't anybody who wrote a memoir before the age of 50 be rather screwed up anyway?"

Ratigan made the comment during a segment with Dr. Nassir Ghaemi, a psychiatry professor and author of "A First-Rate Madness," which explores the relationship between mental illness and successful presidential leadership.

"He's been packaged as no drama Obama, well-adjusted and normal. And if that's what he is he may not be up to the task of what we're facing," observed Ghaemi, referring to Obama's capacity to lead the country out of financial trouble.

Last week, Andrea Mitchell lamented during her afternoon program that "everyone is feeling a lack of hope."

Obama's memoir, "Dreams of My Father," was published in 2004 just days after the future president turned 43.

Ratigan, who is 39, has not published a memoir.

Didn't he "write" two? By all means, we must give credit where credit is due. Or does "Barack Obama in His Own Words" not count?
I mean, this guy is practically another William-friggin-Shakespeare! And, who could blame him? He thinks he's pretty spectacular!

One more thing - Rat-face is only 39? Man! I'm 63 and he looks worse than me!

It's funny, this actually reminds me of a conversation I was having with some Obama-supporting friends during the election. I mentioned one of the things that bothered me about him was how unbelievably arrogant he was. One of my friends asked, "Why do you think he's arrogant?"

To which I replied, "How many autobiographies have you written?"

well I'd vote he's nuts!

By the way they sound more a dissertation of past president then someone current. an eulogy

Is "rather screwed up" Ratbrain's wording for "narcissist"?

Submitted by drsamherman on Mon, 08/08/2011 - 10:01pm.

With the way they love to throw around psychobabble, you would think at least the ultralib would bother to come up with a more clinical sounding term. He would have zero idea what it meant and how it would be properly applied, but at least he might sound more like a semi-serious Obamaniac than a 13-year old.

Who's more screwed up: the author or the reader?

Submitted by Galvanic on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 10:12am.

Ratigan remarked, "Wouldn't anybody who wrote a memoir before the age of 50 be rather screwed up anyway?"

It's not really a matter of him writing his memoir.  Afterall, he is a narcissist.

But who really wanted to read it?  Memoirs are all lies anyway.

Why did Nobama "write" those books? Well.....

Submitted by nanabanana on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 12:32pm.

I kinda think maybe he wanted to get HIS version of himself out there first. If it's in writing it "must be true", right? Nah - we're pretty doggoned sure he's a liar. And he sure seems to be a narcissist as well - so I wonder how many times he's read himself to sleep with his own books.
