Thomas D. Segel is a Texan, now of Harlingen in the Deep South Rio Grande Valley. A twice-wounded former combat correspondent, he retired after 26 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. Segel holds eight personal decorations for valor and meritorious service. He also holds the Thomas Jefferson Award for Journalistic Excellence and was named Military Writer of the Year.
Segel received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas Pan American and earned his Masters degree from Vanderbilt University. He is nationally published in both print and online media and the Paragon News Service distributes his conservative writings. The author of several books, his Men in Space, published by Paladin Press, was selected for both the national high school and junior high school library lists.
Segel recently retired from a second career as Director, Division of Information, Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, Rio Grande State Center. He continues to serve as a media consultant for the South Texas Health Care System and Rio Grande State Center. He is also past national president of the United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association.
