About Me
- Profile
A young 54 years old, I have been a Reagan conservative Republican since the first election I voted in - the Fall election of 1972. Married, with six children, my oldest boy is a US Marine (Corporal), now on his second deployment to the Middle East. On top of that, he married a beautiful young Marine who is the mother of our first grandchild. I am proud of both of them beyond words. I consider myself a patriot. But because my color vision was so bad, my options to serve in the military were very limited.
My current positon is Chief of Process Engineering at a mid-sized engineering company here in Louisville, KY where I supervise 26 other chemical engineers doing process design on refineries and chemical plants. My BS degree was from Newark College of Engineering, and I have done MS work at the University of Cincinnati, but did not complete the requirements for the advanced degree.
I have become much more passionate about events happening at the national as well as local levels. The increasing bias, demonstrated by the alien media nation, has gone too long unchecked. The media help the Democrats take power, thanks to all the "stay-at-home" RINO's.
To stay informed, I listen to Bill Bennett's "Morning In America", Sean Hannitty/Michael Medved in the afternoon, and Hugh Hewitt in the evenings to keep up with what is really happening - not the spin-portrayed garbage shown on the nightly news.
I consider myself well read - mainly history/historical novels - "The Biggest Brother" by Larry Alexander, "Roosevelt" by Conrad Black). I recently read one of Mark Steyn's books - American Alone, as well as Hugh Hewitts If Its Not Close. After a trip to Alabama, I bought an autographed copy of Dr. Space about Werner Von Braun that I enjoyed reading. My Dad (a Korean War Vet), worked at the Huntsville Arsenal in the late 50's for RCA, and had met Von Braun while there. I have read both of Bill Bennetts books on the history of this great country - American - The Last Best Hope. My latest two reads were The Rickover Effect" by Theodore Rockwell and Michael Yon's great book on Iraq - "Moment of Truth In Iraq".
I spend a great deal of time here at Newsbusters reading the stories posted, as well as many of the conservative blogs. I spend time at Power Line, Hugh Hewitt's and Matt Datillo (http://mattstodayinhistory.blogspot.com/) blogs as well.
My hobbies are salt water fish/coral reefs ( I have one reef tank left - the others suffered under repeated power outages and I was forced to take them down) which is the origin of the name stickfarm - I grew both soft and hard coal cuttings to propagate them for sale at the local pet stores.
I also like doing website publishing (I am the webmaster for our church www.weareic.org) and photography (www.stickfarm.smugmug.com). We still have three children at home - so that takes up any remaining free time !
- My Other Sites
I have several posts on a US Marine familes board, but the political section is password protected because that section, while immensely popular, brought in many trolls who stirred the pot, so to speak.
www.weareic.org - I am webmaster and built this site in Frontpage.
www.stickfarm.smugmug.com - I wrote the narratives in the Museun of the US Air Force section, as well as the Huntsville Rocket and Space Center that we visited last summer.
