About Me

Profile

Most people know me through one of of two things.

One is my involvement in Minnesota politics. I am the chairman of Minnesota's Pine County Republicans, secretary of the statewide Republican Liberty Caucus of Minnesota (an affiliate of the Republican Party of Minnesota), and the executive director of a political action committee that I founded in 2009.

The second thing is the commentaries I have written for different publications beginning when I was 14.

I am from a non-political family, but I became interested in politics at a young age. I began attending meetings years ago, and I ran for chairman of my local county Republicans when I was 18. I have won election to that position three times.

In addition to being the chairman of Minnesota's Pine County Republicans, I am the Executive Director of Simply Right, a political action committee made to support conservative candidates. We use the slogan "people over government" to describe what we stand for, because more generically, that is what conservatism promotes.

I also ran for the Minnesota House in 2010 in what I will probably look back upon as a youthful indiscretion. I won a majority vote for Republican endorsement, and I won my own county in the primary. The mudslinging that took place was pretty amazing. I found that there are a lot of people out there who don't have much going on in their lives, so they use politics as a way to find meaning. When you threaten the meaning to and for someone's life, they get pretty upset! That really sums up what is wrong with at least three-quarters of our government, candidates and officeholders (in both parties).

I believe that elected officials have an elevated responsibility to be truthful and to uncover the mistruths told by other elected officials. That takes a lot of energy, stamina, credibility, and money to accomplish. Politicians who do those things are statesmen. Those who do not are just politicians (and lazy, unqualified ones at that).  I do not anticipate running for office again until I have full faith in my ability to fulfill that vision.

I am an aspiring law student, and that is my foremost priority in life at this time. But on the side, I enjoy contributing to a better government using the methods which I am able!
