- I am located in Colorado and work as a Sales Engineer/Marketing guy in the utilities sector.
Former Navy- enlisted (sonar tech) then 10 years in law enforcement from local to Federal level before getting discouraged and becoming a chemical engineer. Liberal Democrat turned Republican turned Libertarian through my experiences, especially working at the federal level.
My careers include dispatcher, booking officer, warrants/civil officer, reserve patrol deputy, halfway house counselor, finally summing up my law enforcement career when I went on to work for the Bureau of Prisons. There I had the dishonor of meeting the first World Trade Center Bomber- Yousef, the corrupt Penny Stock King - Meyer Blinder, working with the Cuban population, and many infamous criminals who were held there to face trial at the federal court in Denver.
I feel that many on the left are idealistic about the criminals and enemies of our society not understanding that they represent an unrelenting, always present bi-product of the human condition, that appeasement or negotiation will only make them more of a threat to those of us who value freedom and justice.
I left the public sector to work full time on night shift at a hospital as a mental health counselor on a psych ward, then as a PC technician, finally as an operator in a semiconductor plant (full time) while I went to college during the day (full time) to get my engineering degree-yep, 2 to 3 hours of sleep a day for 4 years.
My travels to other countries have further cemented my feelings that I live in the greatest country in the world. My experiences growing up as a liberal raised by a flower child who was at times homeless, living in govt housing(projects), trailer parks, etc. has shown me that government has little interest in helping people succeed. I have gradually turned over to conservative thinking as I got to know the system which has drawn me to these sites where the liberal hypocrisy is exposed. I feel a great honor to live in this country that allows people like me to rise as high as hard work, honesty, pride in a good job, personal responsibility, and always looking for opportunity can take you.
Recently left a career as a technical supervisor in the semiconductor field.
