Grew up in Southern California, married to a New Yorker.  Attended Catholic School most of my life and have always considered myself a Conservative.  My Conservatism has developed and changed over the years.  I used to be a social Conservative with little interest in or understanding of fiscal issues.  Things changed significantly when I became self-employed and came to realize how important financial discipline really is.  I'm now a lapsed Catholic and a fiscal Conservative first with Libertarian leanings on some social issues.  My philosophy is that you don't appreciate what you don't pay for.  So the way to reduce or rid society of objectionable practices is to quit subsidizing them.  I believe in private, accountible charity, not bloated, inefficient government bureaucracies that collect taxes and bury medicocrity, waste and fraud in endless red tape.  Cut taxes, fix the budget and the rest will follow. Pet peeves: wasteful government programs and spending, socialist agitators who use "environmentalism" to mask their craven lust for power over others, nanny staters, people who insist that "2nd Hand Smoke" is a health crisis because they're to embarrassed to admit that they just don't like the smell of cigarette smoke (it makes them look soft), anyone who uses the expression "for the children", sleazy trial lawyers who cannibalize businesses and ruin peoples' lives (thanks a lot Roy "$67 million pants" Pearson, you degenerate scumbag), Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Madeline Albright, Chuckie Schumer, James Dobson, Joe Wilson, Ted Kennedy, Chris Matthews, David Shuster, Ben Affleck, Jane Fonda, the LA Times, CNN, Clinton apologists, Morgan Spurlock, George Clooney, everything having to do with the Oscars (self-congratulatory crap), ESPN and most sports writers, Barbra Streisand and her gaggle of carpies, Bill Maher, Larry Flynt, Antonio Villaraigosa, the LA City Council, entertainment reporters (especially Sam Rubin in LA), John Edwards and Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Unfortunately, this list isn't exhaustive.  Love football, hockey (used to play, hoping to again some day), soccer (not that MLS crap...have family in Ireland and England.  I support Tottenham Hotspur and the Republic of Ireland), South Park, Simpsons, King of the Hill, Seinfeld, Homicide (except for the annoying L&O Crossovers), Guinness (on tap...try it at St. James Gate in Dublin...it's delicious, Noel ;-) ), Alley Cat Ale, going out to the pub, mostly '60s, '70s and '80s music, animals (My wife and I have a short haired black cat).  I enjoy listening to Rush Limbaugh, Mark "The Great One" Levin and even Howard Stern.  Oh, and I'm considering sitting for the CPA license exam.  Favorite Movies: Goodfellas, This Is Spinal Tap (even Meathead can get it right sometimes).  That about covers it.
