Profile

I was born and raised in rural Maine. After graduating from high school in 1967 I enlisted in the US Navy and was trained as a Navy Corpsman at the Great Lakes Naval Trainig Center outside of Chicago. I spent nearly two years at the Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and was then assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where I received training as a Field Corpsman with the US Marine Corp and served out the remainder of my enlistment with the 2nd Tank Battalion at Camp Lejeune. I used my GI Bill benefits to attend San Diego State University where I received a BA in History with a minor in English. I taught middle school and high school history/geography/ literature for 27 years in both California and Maine before I retired in 2006. I now divide my time between Southern California and Maine.
