ArchivesABC: Limbaugh Anti-McCain Because Senator Won't 'Answer To' HimAn ABC story Wednesday night attributed conservative opposition to John McCain not to McCain's more liberal positions on many issues, but to how McCain “basically is not going to answer to anybody, especially the conservative pundits or the conservagentsia. And they don't like that.” That claim that resistance to embracing McCain is a petty personal matter came from former Bush-Cheney campaign strategist Matthew Dowd, now an ABC News political contributor. ABC reporter Ron Claiborne buttressed Dowd's explanation, asserting: “And that has drawn attacks from the likes of radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.” Viewers then heard an audio clip of Limbaugh: “He is not the choice of conservatives, as opposed to the choice of the Republican establishment.” (MP3 audio clip, 23 secs.) Medved: 'Rush Acting Like a Liberal'
McCain supporter Medved appeared on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show this evening. View video here. Full Rights & Protection by the US Gov't for the Unborn. The Debate over Abortion will not be resolved anytime soon by the Pro-life or Pro-choice movements. It's a topic that generates a radioactive discussion with a disintegration into rage for some of us. I would like to start this discussion without the usual hot buttons being pushed. As you can see, I am submitting this in 'The Woodshed'. I'm sure the issue and discussion will probably turn ugly but I leave it in your hands. Most will dislike my questions, answers and wit. At least for a moment in time we can try to keep it civil. The discussion needs to be reasonable with points being raised and debated. I'm not here to judge you nor are you to judge anyone. So, let's get started... Quoting Socrates, "Can I ask you a question?". When should we grant full rights and protection of the US Government to the unborn? CNN.com Highlights Negatives of GOP CandidatesIt's quite interesting how CNN.com words the bios of the various presidential candidates. Interesting in that the Republican candidates have negative comments included, whereas the Democrats do not. Case in point: Here are the GOP candidate bios (my emphasis):
California GOP Debate 8pm ETThe Republican presidential candidates, minus Rudy Giuliani, are having their last face-off tonight at the Reagan library at 8pm ET. The event will be broadcast on CNN and is hosted in cooperation with the Politico and the Los Angeles Times. You can also watch online here. Post your comments on this thread or join the live NB chat. CBS's Couric Lauds John Edwards Liberal-Themed Campaign
View video here. Here’s the transcript of Couric’s Wednesday afternoon tribute to Edwards’ defunct campaign: NPR's Daniel Schorr Torn Between Clinton, Obama
As taken from the January 30 e-mail newsletter (emphasis mine; h/t Carter Wood): CNN Gives Unemployed Woman 'a Pass' for Buying a Flat-Screen TelevisionIt’s apparently okay to buy unnecessary and expensive electronics at a discount – even if you’ve lost your job and money is “tight.” After all, the Super Bowl is Sunday. CNN’s January 30 “American Morning” mentioned retailers were cutting prices to get customers to purchase more, but no one during the broadcast had a problem with one unemployed woman buying one of those fancy televisions. “Veronica McNeil has two kids,” said "American Morning" anchor Alina Cho. “She recently lost her job. Her husband’s an ironworker and the family is feeling the pinch.” ABC's Moran: Obama Makes 'Connections' and Overcomes Divisions
It should be pointed out that fellow "Nightline" anchor Martin Bashir promised viewers at the top of the show that Moran, who interviewed Obama in a restaurant in Kansas, would obtain "tough chili and tough questions." One might think that would include asking about the senator's connection with indicted political operative and former supporter Tony Rezko. It didn't. Instead, Moran repeated campaign bio about how Obama's grandfather was born in Kansas and offered queries such as "So, you're home?" He told Obama, in what can't really be described as an actual question, "It always seems that the biggest applause lines are those where you tell people, let's come together."
Joy Behar: 'Sexism and Misogyny' Behind Hillary Opposition
Discussing NOW’s attack on Senator Kennedy for supporting Obama over Clinton on today's show, Behar implied anti-Clinton forces are after her because she’s a woman.
CBS Notes John Edwards Influenced by Soviet-linked Marxist I.F. StoneTalk about a jaw-dropper. The favorite book of an American presidential candidate was written by a radical journalist described in a Soviet document as an “agent of influence.” CBS Evening News last night ran its weekly special, “Primary Questions: Character, Leadership and the Candidates.” Katie Couric’s question to the presidential candidates was, “If you were elected president, what is the one book-- other than the Bible-- you would think is essential to have along?” John Edwards chose I.F. Stone’s “The Trial of Socrates,” because “he talks in a very thoughtful way about the challenges that are faced by men about character, about integrity, and about belief systems. And, uh, and the book – I’ve read it several times. It’s had an impact on me.” NYT's Tale of Two Withdrawals: Respecting Edwards, But Giuliani 'Living an Illusion'The presidential field has winnowed down further, with Democrat John Edwards and Republican Rudy Giuliani announcing their withdrawal from the presidential race on the same day. But while the left-wing Democrat was serenaded as a trailblazer, the moderate Republican was mocked for "living an illusion." While few were surprised by Giuliani's announcement (and subsequent endorsement of fellow moderate John McCain) after his distant third-place finish in Florida, Edwards' decision must have shocked at least one person -- New York Times reporter Julie Bosman, who must be feeling snake-bit after her Tuesday story portraying Edwards as the Energizer Bunny, motoring on and becoming a possible kingmaker at the Democratic convention. AP's Vastly Different Obits for Edwards, Giuliani Failed CandidaciesThe presidential campaigns of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) were both derailed yesterday in Florida. But in covering the story, the AP was considerably more morose about Edwards's train wreck than Giuliani's (h/t NB reader Joe Loiacono). Let's look at the AP coverage. First the Edwards write-up by Nedra Pickler (emphasis mine): Gore's Money-losing Current TV to Go Public with $100M IPOFrom yesterday's Financial Times:
Of course, it’s never made a profit and the vast majority of its revenue comes from cable companies paying it for the privilege of carrying Current (emphasis mine).: WaPo Columnist Hates Florida? Another Attack of BDS
Ostensibly, Copeland is using the fact that Florida is seemingly the end of Rudy Giuliani's road to the White House as the excuse for her evisceration of the state. According to Copeland, dreams are dashed in Florida just like Rudy's were. She warns us to "Beware of the Sunshine State, Where It's Easy To Get Burned," and thinks that Florida's good days are behind her, stranded in the 1970's, "since those were the good days for Florida." AFP Revises History of 2006 Israel-Lebanon WarIn an article previewing the possible damage to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as a result of the Winograd Report into Israel's 34-day war with Hezbollah in the summer of 2006, AFP's Ron Bousso echoes a questionable claim about the 2006 Israeli War against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon:
The Lebanese killed were "mostly civilians?" The Daily Telegraph noted during the conflict: Liberal Tolerance on Parade III mentioned earlier how whenever one of our "NewsBusted" episodes gets especially popular on YouTube, it inevitably attracts left-wing haters who simply can't take the joke being on them. It's pretty much axiomatic. Popular "NewsBusted" creates angry liberals. Read past the jump for some of the vile stuff the hate-filled left is saying about the current "NewsBusted" episode now that it's the #1 comedy video on all of YouTube and #4 in all categories: Huckabee Hating Hannity: Blames Host for Spreading False Rumors
