ArchivesMcCain Says 'MoveOn.org Ought to be Thrown Out of This Country’
Thursday night, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) voiced one of the sharpes rebukes of the far-left organization since the ad was first published. Speaking in front of a group in Hudson, New Hampshire, while holding a blown-up copy of the ad, McCain said (video available here, h/t Gateway Pundit): NYT Mag: Global Warming Is All Jane Fonda’s Fault
Here's something you don't see every day: a liberal publication blaming actress Jane Fonda for anything bad. Yet, although not written by New York Times staffers, the idea that its Sunday magazine would even consider publishing an article blaming Fonda's 1979 movie "The China Syndrome" for global warming is quite shocking. Authored by "Freakonomics" writers Stephen J. Dubiner and Steven D. Levitt, "The Jane Fonda Effect" stated quite adroitly what many climate change skeptics have been saying for years (emphasis added throughout, h/t Glenn Reynolds): Global Warming Obsessed Media Unfazed by Soaring Wheat Prices
As NewsBusters reported Wednesday, wheat prices soared last week to their highest levels in history. As many consumer products are made from this grain, and media love to carp and whine about inflation, one would have expected great focus to be given to this issue. However, as some of the upward pressure on wheat prices is directly attributable to biofuels, a global warming obsessed media seemed concerned to address this inflationary issue for fear that it would bring negative attention on soon-to-be-to-Dr. Al Gore's beloved ethanol. Bucking the wheat boycott trend was the Washington Post which published a very balanced article on this subject Saturday (emphasis added throughout): Preferred NB TopicsGeneral Bush/GOP bashing 19% (304 votes) Environmentalist nonsense 19% (297 votes) Anti-religious bias 8% (132 votes) Apologizing for radical Islam 14% (220 votes) Immigration 11% (170 votes) Military reporting 5% (83 votes) Fake news 19% (300 votes) Blogosphere/technology/campaigning 1% (14 votes) Other (leave comment) 4% (68 votes) Total votes: 1588 Are the Dems, or the Major Media, Arianna's Army?In March, the nation’s leading Democratic presidential contenders backed out of a debate sponsored by Fox News Channel, even though Democrats consented to two FNC presidential debates in the last electoral cycle. This time, leftist Web sites like MoveOn.org sent around petitions demanding that the nation’s liberal party provide no bow of respect or prestige to Fox News, since it was a “mouthpiece for the Republican party, not a legitimate news channel.” Leftist bloggers like Matt Stoller of MyDD.com were explicit in their censorious desire that Fox News should not exist: “The lies of FOX News and Roger Ailes have no place in public discourse, journalism, or the Democratic Party presidential debates.” Instead, this week, as MoveOn showed their outrageousness by attacking Gen. David Petraeus as "Betray Us," the Democratic presidential candidates who spurned Fox for being too coarsely conservative consented to a debate – or “candidate mashup,” as the sponsors called it – with the search site Yahoo and the liberal Web sites Slate and The Huffington Post. So why would the Democrats award their respect or prestige to The Huffington Post? Their “place in public discourse” is very coarse, indeed. Keith Olbermann Admits MSNBC Is Liberally Biased
The idea that cable network MSNBC is liberally biased is certainly no stunning revelation. However, when one of its foremost liberal hosts, Keith Olbermann, admits it on the air, that is truly something to behold. Such actually occurred Thursday evening, and was captured for posterity by Real Clear Politics' Blake Dvorak (h/t NBer SMGalbraith, video available here courtesy Olbermann Watch with thanks to NB reader Damien G.). To set this up, Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards bought some advertising time on MSNBC Thursday evening to respond to President Bush's address to the nation concerning Iraq. After the ad finished, Olbermann disgracefully said the following: Liberal = Anti-gun = Corrupt?A recent spate of contemptible allegations has shaken up some prominent players within the ranks of the anti-gun community. Earlier this week, anti-gun Broward County, Florida Sheriff Ken Jenne resigned after agreeing to plead guilty to federal tax evasion and mail fraud charges stemming from a federal corruption investigation. You may recall Sheriff Jenne’s involvement in the controversial 2003 CNN report where he and reporter John Zarella blatantly and deliberately misled viewers in a staged “demonstration” of semi-automatic “firepower,” and were called to task for their misrepresentation by NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, forcing CNN to apologize. The plea deal came as Jenne faced a possible grand jury indictment on more serious money-laundering charges. The plea will likely mean at least a year in prison for the longtime force in Florida politics. Bill Maher Calls 9/11 Truthers Lunatics (updated w/video)
Something truly shocking happened on Friday's "Real Time" on HBO. Host Bill Maher called 9/11 truthers "lunatics," and demanded they stop requesting him "raise this ridiculous topic on this show and start asking [their] doctor if Paxil is right for [them]." I kid you not. During Maher's "New Rules" segment, he actually stated (video available here, relevant section begins at 1:46): The NewsBusters Weekly Recap: September 8 to 14In an interview with Playboy magazine, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann actually fulminated that "Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda." He then went on to compare his cable rival to the Ku Klux Klan and rail against Rudy Giuliani. And this is the guy who is hosting football coverage on NBC? Live? Speaking of Fox News, the network proved this week that it’s not always "fair and balanced." FNC reporter Laurie Dhue anchored a segment entitled "Lavatory Lust" that re-enacted the infamous Larry Craig bathroom incident. Before ending the "Geraldo at Large" piece, Dhue editorialized that it was sad Craig "had to go to a public place, and that’s the shame of homosexuality in this country right, today — at least the shame that the Republican Party puts on it." Rivera Apologizes for Saying He'd Spit on MalkinMore than a week after Geraldo Rivera said he'd spit on Michelle Malkin if he ever saw her, the controversial Fox News anchor issued an apology on last night's "O'Reilly Factor." "I just, you're so filled with emotion," Rivera said referring to the incident. "Someone calls you a liar and a fool, you want to strike back at them. It was an unguarded moment." "I totally apologize, that's not me, I don't spit. I'm not a spitter," he said. Transcript and video below the fold. Hat tip: Allahpundit. Free Market System Outrages NBC's Robach
The NBC show ran a segment this morning about the fact that BoA has raised its ATM fees for non-customers to $3. When things were kicked back to co-anchor Robach in the studio, she unloaded. View video here. Laura Ingraham against pornified culture of Today showOn the Today show Laura tries to ask them to stop showing so much porn while they side screen her with it. David Gregory gets angry that someone is making a request. The video can be seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7iv05nTnCM I'm with her because trying to watch John Stossel's report. I get bombarded with a Desperate Housewives lingerie ad. My freedom is being taken away to discern what I will watch. Newsweek Proclaims Woman Is 'Approved' Catholic Priest
Looking like an aging cheerleader instead of a "priest," Newsweek featured the story of 25-year-old Jessica Rowley in Higher Calling, published on the 13th. In it they absurdly accept as fact her supposed ordination as a "Catholic priest." |
