ArchivesBuchanan-Matthews 2008? Chris Pleads With Pat to Take Back GOP From Neo-Cons
On this evening's Hardball, Matthews pleaded with Buchanan to take back the Republican party from neo-conservatives. In closing an earlier segment with guest Joe Biden, Matthews had taken a shot at neo-cons: "Unfortunately we have been carried into Iraq by the dreams of the ideologues." When Buchanan came on, Matthews took that same notion one step further: "Pat, when are the traditional conservatives in this country who believe in less government, less role in the world, like yourself, though you might be more extreme than some, George Will, Bill Buckley, when are you guys going to retake your party from the neo-conservatives and stop these overseas campaigns?" Olbermann Urges NFL to Keep Gumbel on TV, But No Room for 'Rush Limbaugh's Racism'Mouthy liberal former sportscasters of a feather stick together. On Wednesday night's Countdown, former ESPN/Fox Sports anchor Keith Olbermann mocked the NFL for even considering renouncing their deal to let Bryant Gumbel broadcast games on the emerging NFL Network. MRC analyst Scott Whitlock noticed that he tried to pile more laughs on Gumbel's apparently side-splitting comments that Eugene Upshaw was a leashed pet of NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue:
Nancy Pelosi's Many Distortions on Letterman's 'Late Show'I don't really expect David Letterman to challenge his political guests and, apparently, neither does Nancy Pelosi. Appearing on the Late Show on Tuesday, Pelosi got away with rhetorical murder implying that George Bush wants to "phase out" Social Security altogether, Democrats really want to secure our borders, the military barely has any combat ready units, and terrorists don't really care about killing people, they just want to instill fear and thus, George Bush is playing right into their hands. Video available here. Oh, and in case you weren't aware, Nancy Pelosi is the ultimate security mom. U.S. Military Recruitment on Target But War Unpopular? What is it about the MSM that they have to get a shot or two in, even when the news being reported is positive? On August 10th, Yahoo! News offered us an Agence France Presse story reporting the good news that the U.S. Military is meeting their recruitment goals for the most part. The news was rather good and a bit startling since most MSM news stories seem to allude to the feeling that things are universally bad for the Military. Military recruiters either met or exceeded their goals in July, putting the US active duty force in a strong position to finish the year with the needed number of new recruits, Pentagon figures show. So goes the first paragraph. Wow, you might think. Maybe things are doing well? Spike Lee Turns Katrina Film into Political Hackery
Jeff Crouere at Ringside Politics reviewed the movie. Spike Lee focused primarily on the Lower Ninth Ward and the African-American victims of Katrina. So, viewers were left with the clear indication that the New Orleans area is almost solely comprised of African-Americans and the victims of Katrina were almost all African-American. However, the metropolitan area of New Orleans was 63% white prior to Katrina and 47% of the storm fatalities were not African-Americans, and of that group the vast majority was white. Newsweek Editor: Bush Administration ‘Incompetent’ And Needs to be Held Accountable
According to Alter, this is the only scenario under which the Democrats will, at long last, be able to punish the President:
Trolls, Censorship and Leftist InsanitySince today's open thread dealt heavily with the topic of censorship and trolling as several new or dormant liberal commenters began posting complaints, I think it's worth saying a little bit officially about the subject to give a little background to everyone. Any conservative site is going to be the target of juvenile liberals who not being able to abide by the rules of logic and decorum, make it their goal to leave inane remarks that they can't defend. For quite some time, we've had our eye on a particular group run by the banned NB user Hater who has become quite obsessed as you can see reading this thread he posted at a Howard Stern fan site after he was banned for the second time. It's a must-read look into the mind of the deranged left. The insanity and sheer hatred expressed by Hater and his little friends is both hilarious and disturbing. Sun-Sentinel Skips the 'D'The Sun-Sentinel put up an article about how the first nuclear reactor in Tehran "was provided to the Iranians by the United States."
The Sentinel is hiding a little something themselves. The part they are leaving out is the party in control at the time - Democrats. It was during the reign of Johnson that this happen, kind of like how it was under the reign of Clinton North Korea jumped into the nuclear game. Since we're on the subject of nuclear warfare, also worth a mention is the procurement of all of our most secret nuclear missile secrets while Al Gore sipped lemonade and lined his pocket with John Huang's money. Hannah Storm Promotes Left Wing Global Warming Talking Points On 'Early Show'
Storm’s feelings on the matter can best be summed up by her statement, "…this dependence on fossil fuels needs to be addressed. So what’s your recommendation?" OK, not pretty. But in historical context, it simply is not as ugly as indicated: Open ThreadYou were saying? UPDATE 16:49. RedState vs. WashPost: Allen's Democratic Opponent Blurbs On The Plight of WhitesErick at RedState.org offered a little "Macaca" rebuttal to The Washington Post. What about George Allen's Democratic opponent Jim Webb writing dust-cover blurbs sticking up for the white man in a book that came out...just in January?
Bill Maher Makes Ethnic Deportation Crack
"But if this decision stands, and this program is unlawful and unconstitutional, federal law expressly makes the ordering of surveillance under the program a federal felony. That would mean that the president could be guilty of no fewer than 30 felonies while in office. Moreover, it is not only illegal for a president to order such surveillance, it is illegal for other government officials to carry out such an order. And that means Alberto Gonzalez could be tried, convicted, and deported."
Deported where, Bill? Alberto Gonzalez was born in San Antonio, TX. Al Qaeda Higher-up Nicknamed 'Abu Reuters'"Al Reuters" is a derrogatory term used in the conservative blogosphere for the Reuters news service. But it turns out that Osama bin Laden valued the western media so much that one of his media advisers had the pseudonym "Abu Reuters." Al Qaeda videos are specifically designed for play in the Western media, with its own production company providing English subtitles. Said one CNN producer, "The media meant and still means a lot to them.” Reports the Online Press Gazzete.
NBC Nightly News: Allen Comments Now Labeled ‘Off-The-Cuff Racial Slur’
More than Just Cosmetic
Here We Go Again: Post Offers 'Macaca' Front Page #4 For Allen ApologyBy now, the piling on should not be a surprise. But the Washington Post put "Macaca" on the front page for the fourth time today (the last time? wouldn't bet on it), this time for Allen's personal apology to S.R. "I Love Noam Chomsky" Sidarth, fresh from his appearance on kooky-left Pacifica's "Democracy Now" radio show. After all that, it's funny to see the Post reporters Michael Shear and Tim Craig put "leftist" in quotes when Allen campaign manager Dick Wadhams talks about Jim Webb's "leftist" allies. As if Webb's feisty pals on lefty blogs don't fit the word. (Not to mention the quotes around "feeding frenzy" to describe the Post reporting.) Shear and Craig began: LA Times: 'Senator's Kenya Visit Inspires Obama-Mania'Two days ago, in the article headlined "Senator's Kenya Visit Inspires Obama-Mania," the Los Angeles Times wrote about Illinois Democrat Senator Barack Obama visiting his father's homeland. "He's a role model for all of Africa," a Kenyan playwright effuses. The story is typically glowing as is much of the coverage Obama has gotten about his trip from the American media. Yet Charles Thomas, a reporter for Chicago's ABC affiliate WLS-TV who is accompanying the senator, sees less enthusiasm in Kenya than here: "Producer Janet Hundley and I spent all of Wednesday in Nairobi and were somewhat surprised by the lack of 'buzz' surrounding the only African-American U.S. Senator's visit to his ancestral homeland. As the newspapers make little mention of it the television news programs make even less." Ironic: Hip Hop Site Juxtaposes Cosby's Call to Responsibility With Gangsta Crime News
States the article: "'They put the word 'nigga' in a song, and we get up and dance to it,' Cosby said. "The two-hour Coppin State University-hosted event dubbed 'Fatherhood Works,' was the last stop on the entertainer's day-long visit to the city. "In addition to hip-hop, Cosby expressed his views on teenage pregnancy, re-emphasized the importance of a good education and urged fathers to take a more active role in raising their kids, as he visited three West Baltimore elementary schools and the church." So here was AllHipHop respectfully passing along Cosby's message. Meanwhile . . . to the right of the Cosby article is a column with links to the latest news from the hip hop world. But while reports of new record deals and other doings were mixed in, much of it read like a 'rap' sheet of an altogether different sort. Examples:
