ArchivesI Need a Conservative Television News Network Every morning I log onto the worldwide web, not because I'm
a computer geek, but because I want to understand what's going on in
the world. I've
long since turned my back on the print media for accurate and timely
news
reporting, and it's getting to the point where I can't even bring
myself to watch a televised news broadcasts anymore, simply because tv
networks can't seem to report on much of anything these days without
insulting my
intelligence with some sort of politically correct blather.
I also tune into various talk radio programs throughout the day, because the conservative hosts which dominate the AM dial usually manage to unearth interesting news articles that I just can't find anywhere else, and they are the best in the business at researching the facts behind the stories they cover, affording me a better perspective on the news than I would otherwise have. Sudafed Deemed A Threat To Homeland SecurityYou better not have a runny nose or watery eyes or you might run afoul of the Patriot Act. According to USA Today, provisions are being added to this legislation, infamous for troubling libertarians from both ends of the political spectrum, that will limit the amount of pseudoephedrine an individual can purchase and require the purchaser to produce a photo ID in order to complete the transaction. Always good to condition the free citizen to bow before authorities in order to remind the humble supplicant of his place before the slave master. Where will this nonsense end? Maybe we should herd everyone into designated relocation camps for their own safety. After all, investigations indicate terrorists are more likely to plot such acts when concealed behind closed doors and private residences; it was said in Nam that the village had to be burned to the ground to save it. Franken.........steinFranken is not even worth commenting about. He's a loser and not a funny one at that! My observation is simply, why does Letterman even have him on the show, and it's more than once. This tells me where his heads is and why Leno has a bigger audience. By the way, what's with those white socks he wears every night to compliment his $2500 suits? Great styling! On "The Early Show" Mike Wallace Laments Over Never Interviewing George W. Bush
Cafferty: People Who Think Republicans Are Committed To Lobbying Reform Are “Retards”On the 4pm hour of CNN's The Situation Room, 'anchor' Jack Cafferty made the audience aware of Republicans attempting to reform lobbying procedures. Specifically, House Republicans are introducing a bill that would increase the reporting requirements for lobbyists who take members out to dinner or buy them expensive gifts. Before reading a description of the bill, Cafferty asked CNN watchers if they wanted to "laugh out loud", implying that you can not take this call for reform serious. Cafferty lamented his opinion by calling those who believe that Republicans are committed to lobbying reform, "retards". Video link follows.
Civil War...In The Anti-War Movement?Marc Morano at our CNSNews.com chronicles how the hard-left "peace" groups are fighting each other and feuding so much that they cannot unify for a big rally on the third anniversary of the beginning of the Allied liberation of Iraq:
Democrats never lost their voicesRemember when people got fired for wearing
anti-Bush t-shirts or having a John Kerry bumper sticker?
In one town a guy was kicked out of a mall for wearing an anti-war shirt. The climate of fear that Republicans have created is slowing disappearing in this country. I'm not talking about fear of terrorism; I'm talking about fear of being labeled "anti-American," because you're anti-Bush. NY Times Baghdad Bureau Chief Says Iraqis Would be Better off with Saddam
At the University of California Berkeley, Iraq correspondents discussed the controversy over whether or not journalists can provide an accurate picture of the situation in Iraq.
Those in attendance: Anna Badkhen of the San Francisco Chronicle, Jackie Spinner of the Washington Post, John Burns of the New York Times and Mark Danner, a Berkeley journalism professor and contributor to The New York Review of Books. UC Berkeley News reported on the event. Jackie Spinner, Washington Post staff writer and author of "Tell Them I Didn't Cry," an account of a year spent in Baghdad starting in May 2004, disagreed that reporters in Iraq are prevented from telling both sides. "I think we're getting 90 percent of the story," she said. When disbelieving guffaws rang out from the audience, she retorted, "Excuse me, have you been there?" She went on to explain how when Washington Post reporters can't go out, "we rely on this whole cadre of Iraqi stringers and translators, who in the case of the Washington Post are Post-trained journalists." ABC's The View: "Radical" Limbaugh, Religion "Feeds Off Bigotry"
Jay Leno Apologizes to Viewer Offended by Cheney Joke When Jay Leno compared Cheney's hunting incident to the shooting in 2003 of Gerald Curry outside an LA courthouse, he received a letter of complaint from a friend of Curry.
Wendy Brogin wrote that Leno's joke was offensive and that he should "do the right thing relative to this matter." Leno called her up, something that impressed her. According to the LA Daily News, Brogin says Leno told her: "He said 'Hello, Wendy, this is Jay Leno,"' the Sherman Oaks resident remembered. "`I'm calling about the letter you wrote and I want to apologize. I just want to let you know we make mistakes sometimes and we don't mean to hurt people."' "Independence"http://www.reason.com/sullum/031506.shtml "The good news is Republican members of Congress finally stood up to President Bush. The bad news is they picked an issue where he was right and they were wrong." Spike Lee Again Suggests New Orleans’ Levees Were Intentionally Exploded
What's beautiful about this reasoning is that Lee has created a marvelous self-fulfilling prophecy that seems to have eluded him: high profile folks like him continue to float this idea, and then say that since people believe it is possible, it is significant. Amazingly, he continued to try and justify this premise: Suddenly Savage: Moussaoui Mess-up Turns 'Today' Crew into Death Penalty Fans
So you might have thought that the Today show would be celebrating the federal lawyer whose goof might very well lead to Zacarias Moussaoui dodging death and instead becoming a lifelong resident of a federal facility. But, no! The Today show was distraught at the prospect that "the 20th hijacker" might have slipped the noose [or the needle]. They went so far as to play a clip from a family member of one of the 9/11 victims saying that "I felt like my husband had been killed again." Shades of that NAACP anti-Bush ad from 2000. See item #2 here of this MRC report. Wash. Post Laments How the End of an Illegal Tax Will "Cost" D.C. MillionsThe D.C. Superior Court recently ruled that thousands of non-District residents had been illegally compelled to pay a business tax. But rather than portray the tens of millions lost by local businessmen to the city government, the Post portrayed the ruling as harmful to the city's bottom line. Staff Writer Albert Crenshaw focused on the concerns of city officials and a sympathetic liberal think tank:
I Can’t Believe We’re on the Eve of DestructionBut ABC sure can. The “news” network last night highlighted a doctor who is predicting an apocalypse as part of a weeklong series “Bird Flu: Fears, Facts and Fiction; What Americans Need to Know.” Reporter Jim Avila interviewed Dr. Robert Webster “the father of bird flu.” Webster came right out and predicted that the virus, which so far has killed barely 100 people in roughly eight years, will mutate into a virus and that “that 50% of the population could die.” Webster, who is storing three months of food and water in his home like some Y2K survivalist, estimated the chance of such an event as “about even odds,” though he says it will happen. Amidst rampant speculation that Katie Couric might be leaving the Today show to anchor the CBS Evening News, Couric narrated a segment on this morning's Today on the occasion of Mike Wallace's announcement this week that he will be retiring from '60 Minutes'. If you think it's impossible to sustain a gush for five minutes, you obviously weren't watching Katie this morning. Excerpts from Katie's paen to Wallace:
Back in the studio, when Matt Lauer observed that "at 88, he is astounding," Katie offered up the ultimate accolade: Feingold, A "Darling Of Progressives" -- And the News MediaSen. Russ Feingold's motion to censure President Bush for warrantless eavesdropping on suspected terrorists is drawing major attention -- even if its political chances are roughly zero. The front page of the Washington Post blows the hot air of publicity on Feingold's leftist crusade, but the headline is "A Senate Maverick Acts to Force an Issue." Why are the "mavericks" always to the left of the party mainstream? R | |
