Olbermann Slams Bush's 'Radio Yackers' Meeting, Confuses Boortz and Cleland Again

On Tuesday's Countdown show, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann fretted about an Oval Office meeting of President Bush and several conservative talk radio hosts -- verbally tagged by Olbermann as "right-wing radio yackers" and labelled on-screen as the "Legion of Doom" -- as the Countdown host contended that Bush was devoting "90 minutes worth of your taxpayer dollars" to the meeting. And in an amusing faux pas, Olbermann's staff, for the second time in less than a year, accidentally displayed a photograph of former liberal Democratic Senator Max Cleland instead of conservative talk radio host Neal Boortz.

During the show's opening teaser, Olbermann proclaimed: "The born again and the born talkers: The President takes 90 minutes worth of your taxpayer dollars to entertain right-wing radio yackers in the Oval Office, and will set up a radio row for them on the White House grounds next week." wow, NYT can't get the story straight on detainee bill signing

I found two articles @NYT today by the same author on the detainee bill signing.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/18/washington/18detain.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/17/washington/18detaincnd.html

They're *nearly* identical. Neither mentions that evidence obtained by torture is not allowed in the tribunals. The only really substantial difference is the first article lacks this paragraph:

With the midterm elections three weeks away, Mr. Bush hoped to use the bill signing to turn the political debate back to the war on terrorism, a winning issue for Republicans, and away from scandals like the Mark Foley case, which have dominated the news in recent weeks. The president said he was signing the measure “in memory of the victims of September the 11th.”

ABC Most Hostile to Military Commissions, Frame Story Around Left-Wing Concerns

Of the broadcast network evening newscasts on Tuesday, ABC aired coverage the most hostile to the “Military Commissions Act of 2006," which President Bush signed earlier in the day. World News anchor Charles Gibson noted how Republican objections had been addressed, but “civil liberties groups," a nice euphemism for liberals, "are calling the new law a violation of American values and have already gone to court to overturn it.” The story from Martha Raddatz concentrated on those concerns as she asserted that “the language is so vague, say some lawyers, you could drive a truck through it. Others say it's just wrong." A lawyer for Guantanamo detainees then bemoaned: "What this bill does is reverse 500 years of common law history and said the President, the king, the executive can throw somebody in jail without needing to justify it to a court. That violates the rule of law and it violates our Constitution."

After not airing any pro-bill soundbites, other than a clip of Bush, Raddatz concluded by relaying how Senator Russell Feingold contended: “We will look back on this day as a stain on our nation's history." Gibson asked why so few Democrats voiced opposition. Raddatz pointed out how “this has not been a winning issue for the Democrats. In fact, in recent polls, 53 percent of Americans said it was okay to have secret prisons where U.S. laws did not apply. Basically, Charlie,” she fretted, “Americans do not want torture, but they fear terrorist attacks even more."

David Kuo: Contract Said My Book Was To Be Released In 2007

Did publisher Simon & Schuster adjust its release schedule and rush into print a new book unflattering to the Bush administration to make an impact on the forthcoming mid-term elections? If the words of its author, David Kuo, are any indication, it's certainly a possibility.

In an interview today (Tuesday, October 17, 2006) on the Laura Ingraham radio show, Kuo was a guest in addition to prominent evangelical Chuck Colson. The suspicious timing of the release of Kuo's book was discussed. Here's the relevant exchange:

KUO: Maybe if I'm Laura Ingraham or Chuck Colson, I get to choose when my book comes out. As you guys know, someone else decides when that happens.

INGRAHAM: So you had no control over that. None.

KUO: If you look at my contract, when the book is released (sic), it's not when the book was released. All that being said (long 3-second pause) No, what I'm saying is, look - the contract that I signed was for the book to be released in early 2007.

$100 reward for anyone who can find....

evidence of a positive story reported about the US Army in the Mainstream Media.

Just kidding about the reward, lets make this a gentlemens bet.

But on a serious note, when was the last time you heard/read a positive article about what our Armed Forces have accomplished in Iraq or Afghanistan?

The biggest irony follows: the most positive article I have read about the campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq came out of PRAVDA.com written by a former Red Army COL who fought in Afghanistan. He admired how quickly and decisively the US acted, and how professional the military is. Funny how an old adversary can see the truth, but our own partisan media refuses to give credit where credit is due.

CBS Finally Gives 'freeSpeech' Time to Anti-Illegal Alien View

After twice turning over its “freeSpeech” segment to sympathetic pleadings on behalf of illegal aliens, Tuesday's CBS Evening News provided time to a small city mayor who is working to curb the illegal influx into his community. In the October 17 segment (CBSNews.com's transcript), Lou Barletta, the Mayor of Hazleton, Pennsylvania explained how his city was “gripped by fear” and “because of violent acts committed by illegal aliens, my residents were afraid to shop -- or even drive -- on certain streets.” So, because of the federal government's “failure”to address the problem, “we created ordinances designed to deter landlords and businesses from renting to and hiring illegals. Those who knowingly break our laws will face financial penalties. These laws will make Hazleton one of the toughest cities in the nation for illegals.”

Back on September 21, CBS aired the plea of an illegal alien to stay in the U.S. and on September 6, the second night of the “freeSpeech” segment which launched the night before with Katie Couric's assumption of the anchor chair, viewers heard a plug for an upcoming pro-illegal alien rally before a sympathetic take on the plight of illegal mothers separated from their kids they left behind.

Washington Post Continues Blackout On Lancet Death-Count Critics

On Oct. 11, the Washington Post's David Brown filed Study Claims Iraq's 'Excess' Death Toll Has Reached 655,000, reporting this year's Lancet pre-election broadside against the war. While Brown noted the earlier study claiming 100,000 deaths was "controversial" and said this one would be too, he failed to cite a single critic attacking it. He did quote outside experts who support the study, and of course one of its co-authors, Gilbert Burnham. Since then the paper's only mention of the study has been in passing, again without any mention of its critics.

This blinkered view of the world was exposed today in a live chat with Post congressional reporter Jonathan Weisman:

Bush Critic Kuo Goes Up in Flames: Claims Matthews 'Conflagrating' Issues

There's nothing the MSM loves more than a renegade Republican. The GOP maverick-of-the-MSM-week is David Kuo. He is the former #2 man in the Bush administration's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, and has written a book, Tempting Faith, claiming that the operation was a cynical attempt to woo faith-based voters whom top aides including Karl Rove looked at contemptuously.

Chris Matthews predictably had Kuo on this afternoon's Hardball. At one point, Matthews asked whether President Bush has "used faith to get votes" and then "how about the issues like stem cell - do you think he's using them politically?"

Replied Kuo:

"I think you're conflagrating a couple of different things here."

Bozell Column: Harry Reid Can't Bleed

Democrats across America are measuring the drapes for the majority in the House and the Senate, preparing to swear in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. One of their major talking points this year has been the Republican majority’s “culture of corruption.”

In January on PBS, Jim Lehrer asked Sen. Reid why lobbying reform was moving so slowly. Reid replied, “Jim, it's taken a while for this culture of corruption the Republicans have developed to come into the fore.”Aspiring “Speaker Pelosi” just gave a speech at Georgetown University pledging to “drain the swamp” of GOP corruption on Capitol Hill. The Democratic National Committee even had a page on their website devoted to the “Republican Culture of Corruption.”

‘American Morning’ Anchor on Christian Boycott of Elections: Start Them Now!

For the second time in less then 24 hours, CNN featured David Kuo, a vocal Bush critic and the former deputy director of the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives. Kuo, who appeared on Tuesday’s "American Morning," has written a book that accuses the White House of using Christian conservatives for political gain and ignoring the issues they care about. Co-Anchor Soledad O’Brien interviewed the author and seemed perturbed that Kuo wouldn’t call for conservatives to boycott the midterm elections:

Soledad O’Brien: "Here's what you write -- you say, 'Christians vote our money, our energy. Every politician needs evangelicals. 'You go on to say, 'It's like a teenaged boy out on a date with a beautiful girl; they'll say anything and everything to get what they want. Let's not give it to them. Let's tell them we are fasting from politics for a season.' Are you saying, stay away from the polls? Three weeks, when we go to the midterm elections, don't vote?"

David Kuo: "Absolutely not."

O’Brien: "What's fasting mean?"

Kuo: "When I'm talking about the fast, I'm talking after the election."

O’Brien: "What kind of a fast is it if you stuff yourself silly and then you go on a fast?"

With Air America On Ropes, Original Founders Start New Liberal Network, 'Nova M'

Check out the email below I just received from the Zogby polling group.  Anita Drobny and Sheldon Drobny, co-founders of the Air America Radio Network, along with a couple others, are starting a new liberal talk radio network to pick up where Air America is presumably about to leave off.  What does it say about the objectivity of Zogby's polling that John Zogby will be a regular contributor?

Air America Co-Founders Start New Liberal Talk Network: Mike Malloy, Joe Trippi and John Zogby join Nova M Radio

Nova M Radio, Inc. based in Phoenix, Arizona officially announced the formation of its new progressive talk radio network. Debuting on the network will be the long awaited return to the airwaves of America’s original “truth-seeker” Mike Malloy. The Mike Malloy Show will initially broadcast live, from 9PM -12 Midnight (EST) beginning October 30,2006 on Nova M Radio affiliate 1480-AM KPHX Phoenix. The Mike Malloy Show will be made available to affiliates across the nation and will also stream live on www.novamradio.com. Malloy on his return to the radio quipped “Yikes! That was close. To not be on the air during perhaps the most critical election in modern U-S history would have been a real bummer. But, we're back and here it is: The Nova M Radio network. Another crack in the wall of right-wing drivel that saturates the airwaves. Join me nightly, truth-seekers and goodbye Air America - hello Nova M!”

MSNBC's Matthews-Goebbels strikes again

Goebbels would have been very proud of MSNBC's Chris Matthew's Georgetown University show on Sunday evening, Oct. 15. NBC really needs to provide equal time to offset the outright lies, omissions and deceit presented during Matthews' propaganda hour.

His guest was Robin Williams who seemed to confirm that his half-psycho persona is not an act. Williams said (to an adoring college-age audience) that when elections do not reflect opinion polls, the only explanation is that Republicans cheated. Never mind that most polling organizations are owned by media elite who regularly and deliberately slant polls toward Democrats and media views.

In short, it was very disgusting to see a major network allow such blatant partisanship. Matthews and NBC are guilty of a betrayal of trust and abuse of authority in "brown shirting" the youth of America. The U.S. Justice Dept. should charge Matthews with making illegal in-kind campaign contributions to Democrats, and during the trial we might also learn of Matthews' past as a member of the Carter administration and working in Congress for Tip O'Neil.

Bill O’Reilly and Michelle Malkin Take on Oprah Winfrey

As reported by NewsBusters last Friday, famed television talk show host Oprah Winfrey recently had the New York Times’ Frank Rich on her program to hawk his new Bush-bashing book. On Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor,” the host and one of his guests, conservative writer and blogger Michelle Malkin, took Oprah to task for the amount of time Rich was given to spew his vitriol, and for the fact that Oprah rarely has conservatives on to push their books (hat tip to Hot Air). O’Reilly began (video link and full transcript to follow):

Her daytime talk program is a launch pad for books, movies, TV shows, and records. Most who appear on Ms. Winfrey's show benefit from the experience greatly. But an analysis of the programs shows that liberal guests far outnumber conservatives and traditionalists in the arena. We can only find four traditional guests in the past four years. Four. President Bush, Rudy Giuliani, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mel Gibson.

On the other side, there are literally dozens of liberal people who have been given a forum on Oprah's program. Just last week, Bush hater Frank Rich was given an hour to pontificate, one hour. I had no idea Mr. Rich was so popular among daytime viewers. Also on Oprah's show, Michael Moore, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Al Gore, Barbara Streisand, Sean Penn, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Jon Stewart, George Clooney, Jim McGreevey, on and on and on. You got three weeks? I can keep listing them.

O’Reilly continued, and then brought Malkin into the discussion:

NY Times: 'People Like These' Love Dick Cheney

Something about Vice President Dick Cheney really riles reporters at the New York Times, who delight in making fun of both the veep's alleged lack of charisma and the deluded red-state folk who can't see what a dullard he is.

Mark Leibovich does it on the front page of Tuesday's Times, "Cheney Hits Heartland, and He Can Feel the Love."

"Mr. Cheney’s favorability ratings might be in an underground bunker, somewhere beneath the president’s (at 20 percent in the most recent New York Times poll). Critics deride him as a Prince of Darkness whose occasional odd episodes -- swearing at a United States senator, shooting a friend in a hunting accident and then barely acknowledging it publicly -- suggest a striking indifference to how he is perceived. Even admirers who laud his intellect and steadiness rarely mention anything about his electrifying rooms or people.

The West promotes Islamic Terrorism and the Extermination of Oriental Christians

The West promotes Islamic Terrorism and the Extermination of Oriental Christians

The US failed to grasp that a main pillar of the colonial plan carried out by France and England in the Middle East is the extermination of the Oriental Christians. Only an Aramaean state built upon the ashes of Iraq and Syria can allow them survive in Peace.

By Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis

The atrocious act of beheading in Mosul an Aramean priest, father Paulus Iskandar, kidnapped  in the district Al- Sina’a on Monday 9 October 2006 by a unknown Islamic group in Mosul, illuminates very well the reality of a hidden war: that waged by the Atheist, pseudo-Christian, West against the Eastern Christians.

Moyers Claims He's Conservative, a 'Thomas Paine Radical,' Free of Ideological Blinders

In an interview with Harvey Blume for the Boston Globe, PBS omnipresence Bill Moyers denied he's become radical unless it's "Thomas Paine radical," and "In many other ways, I'm a conservative," since he's been married a long time and goes to church. He said he's still driven to produce passionate documentaries for PBS because he's vowed to never again "let ideology blind us to the facts on the ground."

Globe: Have you become more radical over the years?

Moyers: Radical in the sense of returning to the roots of the American experience, maybe, as in Thomas Paine radical. What I find is that money has become the common denominator of politics. Both parties have become its servants. And I’ve seen it get worse; I’ve seen our democracy become paralyzed by the influence of big money. I did "Capitol Crimes" because I want people to know the magnitude it has reached.

Media More Interested in Foley Story than Public

It should surprise no one that the media are more interested in the Foley scandal than the American public is. Even the "coverup," the media fallback point if the actual scandal isn't salacious enough, does not outrage Americans as much as it outrages media figures who denounce the Republican leadership. Reports CNN:

Only about a quarter of Americans say the scandal over former Rep. Mark Foley will be "extremely important" in how they vote in November's congressional elections, according to a CNN poll released Tuesday.

That figure falls far below issues such as Iraq, terrorism and the economy.

The Foley scandal ranked fifth on a list of five topics in a poll conducted Friday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corp. (Read the complete poll results -- PDF)

Media Captivated by Bush-Threatening Teen

The Sacramento Bee reports that the media can't get enough of Julia Wilson, the California teenager who was investigated by the Secret Service for her "kill Bush" MySpace page.

Once upon a time Julia Wilson dreamed of becoming the next Christina Aguilera, a pop star famous for glamour but not politics. Instead, she's become the next Cindy Sheehan, receiving global attention for displaying her anger at President Bush.

The story of the Sacramento teenager questioned last week by federal agents about her anti-Bush Web page has spread around the world, with newspapers in Egypt, China, Australia and Europe publishing articles about her and national television stations clamoring for interviews.

Clinton's IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE

Why isn't this BIG COMPARATIVE NEWS ON THE MSM NOW ?!!?!!! ALL NUKES SOLD TO CHINA BY CLINTON MACHINE. CHINA BEGINS TESTING NEW USA DESIGN NUKES UNDERGROUND AFTER SIGNING NPA RENEWAL...

APPARENTLY THIS IS MEMORY HOLE CRAP NOW- REPUBLICANS CAN'T SEEM TO RECALL IT ON THE PUNDIT DEBATES AT ALL.

Clinton's campaign finance scandal that sold all US nuclear warhead designs to China.

CLINTON'S HAZEL O LEARY[ During her term as Secretary of Energy, she was often accused of travelling too frequently and spending lavishly on her accommodations. She apologized to Congressional committees in 1996 for spending which exceeded limits on the funds appropriated for travel and resigned in January 1997. Some also made the accusation that these trips, which according to a GAO report sometimes paid expenses for businessmen, were used to pay back Democratic Party contributors.

What Benedict XVI should say, admonishing Muslim ambassadors

What Benedict XVI should say, admonishing Muslim ambassadors

(first published in: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/pope-benedict-xvi-admonishing-muslim-ambassadors.html)

The recent tirades of ignorant and uneducated Muslim politicians, intellectuals and sheikhs against Pope Benedictus XVI give an excellent opportunity to the Pontiff to go one step further and put an end to irrelevant tactics of compromise that, as already proven in 1938 – 1940, do not calm down anyone.

According to news agencies, in a further effort to calm the waters after his remarks on Islam, Pope Benedictus XVI is expected to meet with ambassadors of countries with a Muslim majority and Italy's Muslim leaders. In a Sept. 22 statement, the Vatican press office said the meeting would take place Sept. 25 at the papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. The head of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Cardinal Paul Poupard, was anticipated to attend the meeting along with key members of Italy's Muslim communities (http://www.catholic....).

The explosion of irrational anger from easily manipulated uneducated Muslim masses reveals to unprecedented extent the serious problems the world f Islam is currently facing. These problems are at the origin of extreme and even paranoid violence, unmanaged hysteria, and poisonous hatred addressed against anyone, people, nation, person or ideology that happens to appear superior, civilized, productive, wealthy, and in self-discipline.

Islamic Terror threatening Europe

What the papal eloquence was exposed to is just one emanation of Islamic Terror. The phenomenon is due to internal developments of Islam that go back to Hanbal, Ibn Taimiya, and Abdel Wahhab, as well as to external developments, namely the multi-faceted phenomenon of Colonialism that over the span of two centuries took political, ideological, philosophical, socio-behavioural, economic, educational, and ideological dimensions.

Colonial powers deeply involved into deliberately and successfully worsening the negative developments are at the brink of abyss; thinking they can "calm down" and "contain", France and England calculate that after the story is forgotten, the entire colonial relationship will be preserved (as it has for over 200 years) and they will keep exploiting the colonized countries, and manipulating (through remote control diplomatic moves) political developments. They opt for permanently lacing the former colonial realms with underdevelopment, social misery, and cultural blindness, as this is viewed as the only way to ensure European supremacy. This mode of thought is obsolete; next time, events will take place in Paris and London where hundreds of thousand of Muslims will think their prophet and ideals have been insulted, and will burn these cities to ashes, acting as Palestinian suicide bombers. It would be idiotic to assume that dozens of thousands of suicide bombers have not yet been produced in the Islamic Terror laboratories of Europe.

Terrorism as reaction to undesired developments cannot be tolerated

To avoid forthcoming nightmares (that are anticipated as far worse than Hitler and Stalin together), the demented tactics of appeasement must take a dead end. Truth must be said at all costs. Responsibilities must be asked from those who pretend to be the rulers of barbaric and uncivilized masses. Solutions must be suggested about how to limit fanaticism, ignorance and barbarism in several countries; they must be imposed if necessary, and the legitimacy of any non democratically elected government, president, "king", dictator or charlatan must be linked with continuous monitoring of the implementation of aforementioned suggestions.

The international community must be prepared to live on healthier basis, and we cannot afford to hear to silly statements that this or that problem, because it is not solved, generates feelings and reactions that cannot be contained. Feelings and reactions are due mainly to culture and education, and in the negative case due to lack of them. Serbs did not like to lose control over Yugoslavia, but because they lost it, they did not decide to become suicide bombers and spread terrorism in the name of undesired developments.

In front of such an escalation, Benedictus XVI has an excellent opportunity to speak to ‘representatives’ of Muslim countries, closing the appeasement tactics chapter, and expressing attitudes and thoughts of Christians allover the world, but also positions and feelings of followers of various other religions who are equally concerned, plus the aspirations of civilized Muslims, who reject the unacceptable reactions against the Pope but are terrorized in their own countries, they are not allowed to express their ideas, and they consequently cannot be ‘represented’ by the Pope’s hardly legitimate interlocutors.

Muslim ambassadors who represent nothing must shut up and listen!

What the Pope should say to these supposed ‘representatives’ can be systematized around following points:

1. You do not represent your peoples, and you are here only thanks to a coincidence. Automatically, your possibility to convey messages is conditioned.

2. You represent undemocratic countries in which there is no respect for sizeable parts of the population that consists of ethnic, linguistic, and/or religious minorities. Automatically, your capability to speak on behalf of ‘countries’ is conditioned.

3. You represent the highest disrespect for Freedom of Thought, Speech, and Expression, let alone practice. In these days of Ramadhan, millions of your compatriots are tyrannized since they are obliged to fast because of a terrible social oppression that
