ArchivesReuters Again Claims Gorbachev 'Ended Cold War'Contrary to what these so-called news reporters lead their readers to believe, ex-Soviet dictator Mikhail Gorbechev did NOT help us "end the cold war" in any other way but to LOSE it! He was not on the same level with Ronald Reagan who is really the one responsible for ending the Cold War. I have seen this many, many times, but it is always a good idea to continue pointing out this bias to keep people aware of just what Gorbachev's role was in the Cold War. "News" services like Reuters continue to uplift Gorby to the level of benevolent leader and kindly grandfather for helping us "end the cold war". But it just isn't true at all. Should Gorby have had his way, Russia would STILL be under the crushing thumb of the U.S.S.R. and its oppressive system. Only 16% believe "official" gov't story of 9/11!!53% Believe the gov't is hiding something. As all truthers have said from the get go, it is only a matter of time. Brooks Sees Bush As Another Link In Axis of Evil
After arguing that it's been a good week for "Dear Leader Kim Jong Il," Saddam Hussein and the leaders of Iran and Al-Qaeda, Brooks claims "this week's news was a humiliating setback for the United States' homegrown authoritarians — a.k.a. the Bush administration." What a Difference a Party MakesFrom MSNBC (Studds' party affiliation is mentioned only in reference to Mark Foley in this story):
Down below, MSNBC acknowledges the sex scandal that caused Congress to censure Studds: Art Imitates Real Life: Liberals Attack Zucker's Spoof, but Here's Albright in North Korea
Zucker’s video begins with a shot of an actress playing Secretary of State Madeleine Albright meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il. The announcer gravely intoned: “In the year 2000, in an effort to stop the North Koreans from building nuclear weapons, President Clinton's Secretary of State Madeleine Albright gave North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il a basketball signed by Michael Jordan.” After “Albright” hands “Kim” a basketball, the two share a champagne toast. An on-screen graphic informs: "We're Not Making This Up." The LA Times Says It Wants Your HelpHere's a familiar scenario: new management comes in to a media company and decides it needs to find ways to "re-engage" the audience. How serious are they? Unless they take my advice (after the cut), probably not too much.
Globe's Kuttner: United States On 'Precipice of Despotism'
But all I was getting were Kuttner's "on the one hand, but on the other hand" arguments as to whether it is in Democratic interests to retake one or both houses of Congress come November. His thesis is that America is such a mess thanks to years of Republican misrule that fixing it could be a thankless task for Dems, who might be better off waiting for the deluge of the 2008 presidential elections. For the record, Kuttner does come down on the side of taking power now. Boston Globe: Gerry Studds Has DiedToday's Boston Globe reports: "Former U.S. Rep. Gerry Studds, the first openly gay person elected to Congress, died early Saturday, days after he was admitted to the hospital after collapsing while walking his dog, his husband said." The reference to a "husband" may take some of us aback, and the timing of Mr. Studds' passing is certainly coincidental in light of the Mark Foley scandal. May he rest in peace. Communitarian Fools & Their Money Soon PartedIn a classic Simpsons’ moment, at their show’s equivalent of Disney World dedicated to the parodies of Tom and Jerry known as Itchy and Scratchy, a giddy Homer is duped into trading his money for the amusement park’s imitation play currency which can’t be spent on anything at the park. The scene is humorous in that only Homer would be among those stupid enough to fall for such a scheme. At one time, it use to be a sign of discernment if the prudent citizen was not taken in by such snake oil. However, if a bunch of grubby beatniks have their way, one’s willingness to fall for such nonsense will serve as a measure of one’s devotion to and support of the COMMUNITY. According to the June 2006 Hyattsville Life And Times, the cities of Hyattsville, Mount Rainier, and Brentwood will be acquiring a local currency to be called the “Anacostia Hour”. Those hoodwinked into accepting this tender can use it to purchase goods from businesses part of the program and even pay employees “willing” to accept this glorified monopoly money. Hillary Aide Mocks McCain POW Past [Update: Hillary Apologizes]
The topic of Maureen Dowd's subscription-required column of this morning, Is Chivalry Shivved?, is the war of words between Hillary and John McCain, as the two top presidential contenders recently fired some early shots over the other's bow on the topic of responsibility for the N. Korean nuclear mess. Rapper's Delight: Democrat Claire 'Kanye' McCaskill's Bush-Hates-Blacks MantraForgive the slowness of getting to this amazing exchange on Meet the Press, but with all the fuss that Chris Matthews and other national pundits have made over George Allen's "Macaca" salutation, it's amazing (and a testament to media Bush-loathing) that Missouri Democrat Senate challenger Claire McCaskill could completely copy rapper Kanye West and insist President Bush let people die in New Orleans because they were black, and nobody blinked. (Coverage on ABC, CBS, NBC? Zero.) At least Tim Russert brought it up last Sunday, late in the Missouri Senate debate on Meet the Press. But McCaskill wouldn't retract it. She was "acknowledging the feelings" of professional race-baiters and certain rappers who wear pink:
NBC Insists North Korean Nuke-Test A Political Wash, Or More Bad News for BushMany pundits suspect that any event that makes the world look like a dangerous place might help the hawkish Bush team at election time. NBC was not going to allow that impression to sink in, if you were watching Thursday morning's edition of Today. David Gregory insisted that despite "partisan finger-pointing," it would be a Republican liability, another growing question mark:
Here is a suggestion for those that bash and attack others on this site….Here is a suggestion to those posters that continue to bash, insult, attack, make false allegations and false assertions against other posters……. Educate yourself (you bashers) to the facts first. Before, you continue to spout off to other posters while you try to put then down and call them names. Because, contrary to your desired intent, you simply come across much less intelligent yourself then you can ever imagine possible. There should be an ability to post relevant information without the necessity to “bash” others who just are supplying information to those bashers that they are not yet aware of. The bottom line is that those “bashers” prove over and over the sense of the bashers inadequacies those bashers actually have of themselves. Their only defense is a quick and severe offensive-strike against those that are simply providing information, comments, and opinions to those that are uninformed to the real facts. On Tonight Show, Gregory Impersonates Bush's Rejoinder to Him for Speaking French
Video clip (2:20): Real (3.9 MB) or Windows Media (4.5 MB), plus MP3 audio (800 KB) Washington Post: Democrats Are, Like, Way CuterSaturday's Washington Post includes the article "Democratic Faces That Could Launch Thousands of Votes." Authored by staff writer Shailagh Murray, the story states: "By a combination of luck and design, Democrats seem to be fielding an uncommonly high number of uncommonly good-looking candidates. "The beauty gap between the parties, some on Capitol Hill muse, could even be a factor in who controls Congress after Election Day. "Democratic operatives do not publicly say that they went out of their way this year to recruit candidates with a high hotness quotient. Privately, however, they acknowledge that, as they focused on finding the most dynamic politicians to challenge vulnerable Republicans, it did not escape their notice that some of the most attractive prospects were indeed often quite attractive." Now it's not my desire to be mean. And certainly I'm not known for my own good looks. But it seems to me that a party boasting such attractive folks as Barbara Mikulski, Rosa DeLauro, Janet Reno, Madeleine Albright, Michael Moore and John Kerry hasn't practiced "the politics of beauty" all that much. |
